Enter the Realm of Camelot, home of famous legends: King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, and Merlin—but this isn’t their story. Meet Pig, a humble gong farmer who dreams of the glories of Camelot. Her dreams become reality–or so she thinks–when she becomes Sir Kay’s page. What starts off as a joke soon becomes the adventure of Pig’s life when Merlin sends the knights on a quest for ...more

Let me start by saying that I am not a fan of fantasy or have ever been interested in Arthurian legend.
After reading this book, I am no more a fan of King Arthur and His Knights but that is not to say that this is not a cleverly and well written spoof on King Arthur and the round table – or should I say the pineapple table.
Although far from being a scholar in the original legend, I found Kylie Betzner’s debut novel to be hyperbolic funny and witty. Here’s an example: Merlin says to Arthur: Ther

In full disclosure, I know the author personally and count her as one of my very few friends. As such, it was practically impossible to not hear her voice for several characters since she sometimes goes all silly and talks like she's a knight or peasant.

The Quest for the Holy Something or Other is a Monty Python-esque story with hilarious characters. I really wish Pig was a little more likable but it all worked as a whole. The scenes are very descriptive and I have no problem imagining the Wiza

A humorous read, The Quest for the Holy Something or Other follows the antics of the ever-innocent/rose-tinted-glasses-wearing Pig and her reluctant knight, Sir Kay, as they hunt for the Holy Bread Box. If you enjoy "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," you will love this comedic parody of King Arthur's court as they fight themselves and the inevitable march of ... change.

Perhaps one of the most endearing aspects of this novel for me is the characters, which are all memorable and one-of-a-kind, a t

Imagine Camelot — the shining castle with its majestic king and bold, chivalrous knights gathered at the hallowed Round Table... wrong! In The Search for the Holy Something or Other, Kylie Betzner turns the legend of Camelot on its head and shows what life among the knights is really like.

Twelve-year-old Pig is a gong farmer — a shoveler of excrement, the lowest of the low. She believes in the glory of Camelot and idolizes the "legendary" knights. When she is appointed page to the aging Sir Kay,

Though comedic fiction is not a genre I'd normally read, I'm glad I gave this one a go. Pig, a young gong farmer (someone who clears away excrement...) gets assigned to be Sir Kay's page. The knight, a minimally respected and frequently mocked knight around King Arthur's table, is less than thrilled to have her. But together they set out on a crazy quest dreamed up by the wizard Merlin, where, rather than excitement and danger, they encounter mischief and mayhem, making for an entertain

I was so excited to read this comedic debut novel by Kylie Betzner! I have a special spot in my book heart for all things King Arthur/Merlin lore. I also adore Monty Python humour! Needless to say, this book has that and more.

Pig lives a simple life in the village and one day none other than Sir Kay invites her on a quest. Thus begins the adventure of a lifetime for Pig. Wrought with mishaps and side-splitting antics, this parody is a must-read! Even if you aren't familiar with King Arthur and t

I had no idea what to expect from this book. I read it was supposed to be comedy poking fun at King Arthur times. Not being a fan of Arthurian legends, I was a bit nervous to read this.

But my nerves were immediately calmed when I met Pig. What a charming child. A child who always viewed the world through rose-colored glasses. Then Pig becomes Sir Kay's page and they embark on a quest. A quest filled with more problems than you can imagine.

The humor in this book was just the right amount. Plus

A whole breadbox full of fun

This is a great first book from a new author. The story is a tongue in cheek tale about chivalry and questing, but it still manages to have a point. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I had a great time. Take a chance on this one, you might enjoy it too.
