Ever since a drunken one-night stand gone wrong, single mother Meredith Banks can't seem to shake Christian Morgan, the hypnotically attractive and dangerously obsessive intern from her office. It started with the late night phone calls, the hang-ups, the unwanted visits to her row home in Detroit. Now her son Troy, all that matters in her world, has gone missing after sch ...more

While I am not an avid reader of thrillers, the premise of this one appealed to me so I gave it a try, and what I got was not at all what I expected - it was much better!

What starts out as a mixture between stalker and kidnapping crime story soon turns into a much darker nightmare. While I did not agree with all decisions the main character Meredith made, I could easily understand her motivation and thus sympathize with her. I appreciated that she was not solely likeable, but had her flaws.

This is one of those books that you can't really find much at fault with it, but for some reason you just can't get into it like you want. Was the book written well? It was ok, the plot was interesting, but the characters just fell flat for me. I couldn't find a connection to any of them even Meredith. I'm a mother as well, but her reaction to her son being kidnapped just felt forced. Was that the authors fault. I can't really say. Maybe I'm the only reviewer that feels that way. Everyone else j ...more

If you are looking for a gritty, dark kidnapping thriller set in Detroit's seediest underbelly and can take some rough violence, then this book will keep you enthralled. The writing is tight and the case is compelling. The action and tension ramp up quick and the stakes stay high. I was disappointed to find that Meredith's search for her missing son is not solved by the end of the book but I enjoyed her motherly, strong determination to find him no matter what the personal cost. Meredith doesn't ...more

I don't have children of my own yet but it's easy to feel a slight anxiety build up as I struggled alongside Meredith.
There's a bit of tension while waiting for the next book, however, and I may need to do some rereading before the next book.
In the story itself, you witness the degrading of a beautiful women (both mentally and physically) to a ragged accidental criminal. She questions every day what's possibly being done to her son! It's a stressful story so buckle up. This story presents some p

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I was excited to get this book, and read it within 2 days! Now I want the rest of the story! I really understood the mother, Meredith. Troy means the world to her. But to give in to Christian...I don't think so. I think Meredith is going to finish what she started and get her son back. But to read how it happens; I want the rest of the story now! I don't like the element of her possibly going to prison for what she did, but the thought ...more

Wow! This book gave me more than I bargained for. I was intrigued by the premise of a crime related thriller, but this book delivered that and then dug deeper to deliver a mystery that would challenge beliefs and expectations. Having children myself I can understand why Meredith chose to do the things she did, but the outcomes of the choices provide argument against them. I do think some of this will be too much for a more squeamish reader but it is definitely worth a read.

I read this book in one sitting. If you're a fan of the suspense/thriller genre, it will get your attention very quickly. If you're not a fan of series books, I don't recommend reading So Damn Beautiful, because you will definitely be left wondering what happens. But....if you're like me and enjoy a story spread out over several books, I highly recommend reading this one. And you can bet I WILL be finding out what happens!

Wow,what a book!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. As much as I enjoyed it, I was also deeply unsettled by the story line. At several points I was in tears. It is definitely a must read thriller.

Finally a book that has some realism, deep thought, and I mean that it's definitely thought provoking. I am surprised by some of the events and actually disturbed by others. I am very glad I received this book, it was a sleeper surprise for me. I recommend it for anybody that likes a disturbing story.

I am ready to start the second book and I have a copy.

Definitely a thrilling short read to pick up if you have or need to kill a few hours. Showing courage and doing whatever it takes to get your child back, it makes you realize the extent of being a parent and how our children come before even our own happiness. The thrill of the actual chase and the ending places the reader in desperate need to follow through with the story.
