Stalker romance Secret society MF Touch her 💀 vibes
Soon you’ll understand. You were always meant to be mine.
First book in the Dark Serpent Brotherhood series.
Gabriel Ambrose catches the eye of Poppy Rivers a florist who decorates his Dark Masquerade gala at his estate. She sees something that she wasn’t supposed to see. Gabriel has her in his hands and wants to play.
They both have secrets. Can they survive each other.
Loved Gabriel’s brothers - Josiah & Benedict. Loved the connection with Gabriel & Poppy.
The Good: The story kept me engaged enough that I genuinely wanted to finish it. The spicy scenes were well‑executed, and the central twist felt original and added a fresh layer to the plot.
What Could Be Improved: The dialogue between the brothers pulled me out of the story at times. Their conversations often repeated the same beats, and the constant use of “brother” felt unnatural — most siblings don’t address each other that way once the relationship is already established. Josiah repeatedly warns Gabriel about his attention, delegation, or workload, but we don’t actually see those issues play out on the page; they’re implied rather than shown, which makes the repetition feel unnecessary.
A larger plot point that didn’t quite land for me was the mother’s behavior. If she spent 25 years looking over her shoulder, it seems unlikely she never once checked headlines or the internet to confirm the father’s status. Given that she left because of @buse and understood the danger of the Ambrose family, it felt like she would have been more proactive — or at least more forthcoming with Poppy — much earlier. That gap pulled me out of the story.
I’m not trying to slam the book — I clearly read it and wanted to see how it ended. But I did take off two stars for dialogue that could have been tighter, for introducing the contract element more than 100 pages in instead of planting it earlier, and for a few plot gaps that weakened the overall impact. One small continuity note: there’s a scene where he tells her to go upstairs, but then he carries her — the sequence could use a quick polish for clarity.

This review ended up longer than I intended, but unfortunately that mirrors the reading experience itself. The biggest issue for me was the overwhelming amount of repetition. I lost count of how many times the drawing of the serpent and the dahlia was mentioned, despite it having little to no real impact on the story. The same goes for repeated phrases like “the lie comes easily” or “the words come out harder than intended,” and Gabriel having essentially the same conversation with his brothers four separate times.
There’s also an excessive amount of inner dialogue where very little of substance is actually said. So much is written, yet nothing meaningful seems to happen. The internal monologues follow the same structure over and over starting with “it shouldn’t feel like this” and inevitably ending with “yet…” to the point where it feels like you’re rereading the same paragraph on a loop.
Overall, I genuinely think at least 100 pages could have been cut. Trimming the repeated references, recycled conversations, and redundant internal dialogue would have significantly improved the pacing and overall reading experience.
That said, around the 250-page mark, the story finally starts to come together. A plot twist I didn’t see coming added some much-needed momentum, and I actually began to enjoy the second half of the book. Gabriel’s character development, in particular, was a highlight.
Would I recommend this book? Maybe but it’s unlikely I’ll be picking up the next book in the series.
Dark Billionaire Stalker by Lara Hart is book one in the Dark Serpents Brotherhood series. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC. This book is also the first book by this author that I have read and I will be looking at some of her other books. The title literally tells us what to expect. There is a good balance of plot, mystery, suspense, damage, love, and spice. By the end of this book I was invested! I never thought a serpent could be considered sexy, but here we are.
The Dark Serpent Brotherhood series started off with a bang. Gabriel showed his dark possessive side immediately after seeing Poppy for the first time. It felt like two magnets drawn towards one another. This story put me through the wringer of almost every emotion. Lara Hart gave the readers everything we love in a stalker romance. However, there were a few moments that my inner independent woman wanted to scream at the kindle.
Two dark and damaged people that found each other and finally feel seen. They both have secrets that they are keeping from one another. Elements that I loved in this series debut - a secret society, a past with a body count, and a woman whose mother was running from danger her entire life. I have no idea where this series is going to take us, but I can’t wait to read the next book. The Ambrose brothers are worth the read!
I couldn't put it down, it has everything i like the honest in the relationship. Well worth reading. I really hope the story continues with the other 2 brothers and her family. It has such a good story plot I would love to hear more about. So many things that can carry on.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy given by the author of "DARK BILLIONAIRE STALKER" This is an interesting, emotional intense drama, theres secrets, obsession, keeping you on edge. Gabriel watches & stalks Poppy's every move she's a flourist who he manipulates into his bed neither can control their attraction to one another. What will Poppy do when she finds out who Gabriel really is he has secrets about who her family really is she should run but doesn't & ends up pregnant, he'll kill anyone who trys to take her from him, a must read page turner you don't want to miss getting.
Poppy wasn’t supposed to see what she saw. But Gabriel doesn’t mind because now he’ll play with her. Like a cat with a mouse! And when she finally realizes she’s his, it’ll be too late!
