Baking Bad Great Recipes No Meth-In Arou

Rate this book
You're hooked on BREAKING BAD. You've got high on the escapades of Walt and Jessie. Now it's come to an end and you're missing your latest fix. Well we have just the drug for you: BAKING BAD.

98% pure but 100% edible and delicious, BAKING BAD is a spoof recipe book created in homage to the TV series that we STILL can't stop talking about. A cookbook for fans of the greatest cult show ever produced (and no gasmask is required).

From 'Ricin Crispie Treats' to Walt's patented 'Meth Muffins' (complete with blue sugar crystals), 'Apple & Banana Hank-cakes' to 'Chocolate Gustavo Fingers' and 'Heisen-batten-Burg Cake' (topped with a licorice hat), this book comes with so many in-jokes that you'll need a fake carwash just to process them.

So, get your protective gear on and your tool kit ready. Because, as Jessie would say, 'Let's Cook. B*tch'.

"The real aim of this book is to use baking as a medium through which to review the show."

Despicable, cult, and often outrageously silly, Breaking Bad was as addictive for me as the product Walt and Jesse produced. This book, a gift from my dad and sister, has done something fun with the parody book genre: in addition to funny comments, it gives back some creativity of its own. The recipe structures with occasional reference insert as if a harmless instruction made each recipe a fun read.
In the Season 2 section, there a recipe for "Recurring Pink Bear Bites" which includes the brilliant instruction: "Pay close attention, or, just invent a theory using words like 'foreshadowing' and 'pathos' and post it online.". Then there's the Gus-based recipe which includes the step: "8. Slowly slide a chair across the floor producing an inhuman, bloodcurdling growl.". And whoever came up with Heisen(Batten)berg cake, I doff my black fedora to you, sir.
The book is really well-produced, each recipe amazingly reminiscent of some cartel crime-scene. And simple enough that it might encourage a novice baker like myself to get my hands wet. My personal favourites were the Tuco's grills jelly, a pie based on the exploding El Paso tortoise, and the easy-looking blue mint meth crystals. It was fun to relive those crazy moments. All the characters are there, and when everyone has forgotten about Breaking Bad, there's no reason not to use these as splatter-punk Halloween treat ideas.
"So, either embrace the gore or go bake a fairy cake or something."

A hilarious collection of mostly cake and cookie recipes inspired by the Breaking Bad TV show. Some are just basic recipes decorated like the characters and others are more creative like “blue meth” rock candy.

Funny little asides in the instructions include:

-Brutally murder anyone who interrupts you before disposing of their body in a car compactor.
-Shave your head to achieve maximum intimidation.
-Produce a deadly looking syringe from an elegant box case.
-Slowly slide a chair across the floor, producing an inhuman, bloodcurdling growl.
-Enjoy at home, basking in the warm glow of your family's love or, alternatively, alone at a roadside diner, safe in the knowledge that you are a fucking boss.

After a difficult day at work this gem was awesome to read for the first time. Wherein I found a few recipes I wanna try. LOVE the dosage telling how many people a recipe serves & rated the difficulty = purity. When I bought this book awhile ago it had been a miserable day, I was exhausted & just wanted in & out of a grocery store before going directly home. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200... Up until I seen a sale bin, with this very book that made me giggle long after I'd left the store. This book tickled me more than once now lol

Hahaha, my 100th review and I'm using it on this book of all books. XD The fact this book exists kind of brightens my world to be honest. Best recipe is the bath with the half-dissolved body floating in it, though the Huell cake also looks deadly. OK, I'm done reviewing Breaking Bad books, I think I've got all the ones that are in Eason's.
