Falling for You #2

Falling for my Ex's Twin

Rate this book
I thought my ex-husband’s twin hated me. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

After my marriage breaks down, I move to a new town to start fresh and follow my dream of being a farmer. I know my ex’s twin, Jimmy, is at uni here, but I never expected our paths to cross—especially not like this.

I’d always assumed Jimmy hated me for coming between him and his brother. But a drunken one-night stand leaves me reeling, confused about his feelings—and my own.

Jimmy isn’t the judgmental shadow of his brother. He’s caring, protective, and sees me in a way no one else has. Reconnecting with him is wonderful, but a heavy question can I truly give him my heart without hurting the man I used to love?

Falling for my Ex’s Twin is a 50,000-word contemporary M/M romance between a farmer healing from a toxic relationship and his childhood friend, who shows him he deserves to be put first.

mentions of a past coercive/controlling relationship.

Falling for my Ex's Twin was a sweet and forbidden romance!

Reconnecting with your childhood best friend, who also happens to be your twin brother's ex-husband, through a drunken hookup might not seem like the best idea, but it worked surprisingly well for Jimmy and Flynn. Writing it off as a one-night thing, they tried to be friends again at first. It didn’t take long for the connection from their childhood to make a reappearance, and neither of them could really hide their interest for more.

I liked the history between them, and the long time crushing and pining from Jimmy's PoV made my heart ache a little. Jimmy was great with Flynn, and very gently tried to make him see how the relationship with his brother had been toxic and abusive. They were really sweet together, and Flynn finally being taken care of and ‘spoiled’ the way he deserved was lovely to see.

It was overall a sweet read with pretty low angst, despite the themes and the 'forbidden' nature of Jimmy and Flynn's relationship. Flynn was such a sweetheart, and he and Jimmy ending up together felt inevitable from early on. I really enjoyed their relationship and how Flynn started to thrive under Jimmy’s TLC and praise.

Colette is a wonderful author and is great at writing a romance with heart. The MC's here, Jimmy and Flynn, have reasons for not getting together, namely Jimmy's twin brother/Flynn's ex husband, but that doesn't stop the connection that they shared as kids battling through to bring gem back together. Along with a healthy dose of chemistry!
Flynn break-up with his ex was never his fault and Jimmy is pretty sure he knows that but it's not the story that has been fed through from his mother. It still hurts that Flynn went with his brother when Jimmy loved him, but loved him in secret so Flynn never knew.
Now they have the chance to rekindle their friendship and, apparently, start something fresh between them. The twins couldn't be more different and Flynn knows that, even if it does take his head a second to get round. Jimmy is kind, thoughtful, encouraging and loving, whereas the ex was selfish, manipulative and definitely the evil twin.
It's a wonderful romance to read as Flynn is shown how he should have been loved and Jimmy gets the chance to love on the guy that was always for him.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Falling for You series. I have not read book 1, Falling for the Professor. As far as I can tell, that book sort of runs alongside this one and so I don't think it matters if you read that one or not. I want to now go back and read that book, because Angus plays a part here and you can pick things up as you go along.

Flynn moves to Leeds to get away from his ex, after their marriage ends. He knows that Jimmy, the ex's twin brother is at uni in Leeds but he never expected to reconnect. Because Jimmy hates Flynn, right?? One drunken night later, and Flynn is questioning everything he thought he knew about Jimmy and the ex' Billy.

I loved this!!

It's wonderful, it really is. A different take on the "my ex's brother" theme and I loved how it was delivered.

Jimmy is VERY different from his brother, Billy. And Flynn realises that quickly. But Flynn loved Billy and still does, and his feelings for Jimmy are confusing him greatly. I loved that Jimmy is patient, he has been waiting for Flynn for years. He knows that Flynn needs time to work through his feelings and emotions about everything and he will wait.

I loved that Jimmy gave Flynn that time. Flynn is trying to come to terms with the end of his marriage, but when others point out how Billy treated him, it makes Flynn think. When you are in that sort of relationship, you really do not see what's happening but after? The red flags are all there. And Flynn needs to come to terms with what Billy did to him.

But when Billy finds out?? The man takes it to the next level and Flynn's blinkers are left in the dust and he can see things much more clearly.

I loved that Jimmy's parents were happy for Flynn and Jimmy. They saw them together years ago, before Billy, so they were really pleased by it all.

AND!!

First person, present tense and multi POV! And I loved it! Maybe I'm getting over my dislike of books written this way, I didn't even notice til I was writing this review and filing it. SO, very well played!

Jimmy has been enjoying his time away at uni until he's introduced to a guy that's just started working for his bestie's dad as a farm hand. What his bestie doesn't realize is that Jimmy is very familiar with Flynn and is not very happy to see him. He just so happens to be Jimmy's brother's ex-husband. The history between Flynn and Jimmy started out as an incredible friendship shared with Jimmy's twin brother, Billy. As the boys grew up, Jimmy developed a bit of a crush on Flynn that unfortunately wasn't acted upon. Billy, however, didn't have that problem and ended up marrying Flynn. A couple years go by and Flynn ends up divorced and in the same place as Jimmy. The tension between Jimmy and Flynn is wrought with anger and frustration that comes to a head after a night of drinking. While this was definitely an unplanned mistake, it did break the ice and give them the opportunity to be civil with each other. As more situations put them in each other's paths, Jimmy and Flynn begin to rekindle their old friendship and realize that what they knew about the past, wasn't necessarily what they thought. Flynn is such a sweetheart and I love how Jimmy truly sees him and wants to show him how things could be if they both have the strength to ignore what seems proper and just love each other.

Flynn’s fresh start as a farmer takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Jimmy, his ex‑husband’s twin — the man he always assumed despised him. After a drunken one‑night stand leaves them both shaken, Flynn realises Jimmy isn’t the cold shadow of his brother but someone caring, protective, and genuinely attuned to him. As they reconnect, Flynn is torn between the possibility of real love and the fear of hurting the man he once married. Their story follows a farmer healing from a toxic past and the childhood friend who shows him he deserves to come first.

I loved that Flynn’s journey was incredibly moving, especially as he slowly recognises that his marriage wasn’t just unhappy — it was coercive and damaging. Watching him unlearn that harm with Jimmy’s steady support was at the heart of the story. Jimmy shows him, gently and consistently, that he deserves love, care, and to be put first for once in his life. Their emotions are written with such clarity that it’s easy to feel every moment of doubt, hope, and growing affection. The shift from pain to genuine connection is beautifully handled, making their love story both healing and deeply satisfying. This was an MM story with mature content.

Jimmy and Billy are twins and growing up Flynn was their best friend. (No spoilers) During their teens Billy and Flynn became boyfriends then married early and divorced. This book picks up years after that when Jimmy and Flynn now live in the same area and meet in the bar, and then on an app. Yes one of THOSE apps. Their hookup is epic because, yes, they were supposed to be together from the beginning. While Jimmy in particular isn’t really looking for a relationship he’s got a sweet spot for Flynn who is still dealing with losing his marriage and his adopted family. These two do get their HEA and no the three do not become best friends again because sometimes you can’t go backwards and that’s okay. But Flynn does get his family and ends up with the brother he’s supposed to end up with - and that’s not a spoiler because we already know it was an HEA. It is the second in series and there are some hints at book one but definitely can read as a standalone!

I enjoyed reading Falling for My Ex’s Twin. It’s a great second chance story. Jimmy had a thing for Flynn before his brother ever married him but Flynn didn’t know that. Now Flynn is divorced and he runs into Jimmy and they reconnect. As Jimmy and Flynn become friends again Flynn develops feelings that he thinks he shouldn’t have. Jimmy’s twin is a jerk but Jimmy doesn’t want to say that to Flynn and influence his feelings.

This story is very hot! 🌶🔥🌶🔥🌶 I love second chance stories and this one has two epilogues! When I finished reading the first one, the second one came as a surprise and I loved that. Epilogues are often my favorite part of a book and getting two of them was a real treat!

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Falling for my Ex's Twin

This story came up on my recommendations list. I took one look and swooped it up. I had seen Colette Davison's name so many times but had never read her books. I am so glad I did. In fact, I binged this one it was so deliciously good!
The title gives nothing away of the actual story. Yes, there is a deeper story here but there is also some good old-fashioned sex. This book was actually a very refreshing m/m read. I really enjoyed it! I really don't want to give anything away from this great story. I found it very uplifting! Going back now to read Book 1 - Angus' story. Then I cannot wait to read more!

OVERALL: 10/10 ++

CHARACTERS: 10/10 ++

STORYLINE: 10/10 ++

EROTICISM/PASSION: 10/10 +

I was looking forward to reading Flynn and Jimmy's story after meeting them in the previous book and it didn't disappoint. It's a friends to lovers, pinning/hurt story. Flynn and Jimmy used to be friends and Jimmy had feelings for Flynn but when he got together with Jimmy's twin brother, Jimmy decided to pull away which makes Flynn think it was because he thought Jimmy hated him for getting between the twins. Now it's some years later and they meet in a club and there's still some resentment between them but they get very drunk and end up sleeping together. That's the start of them trying to become friends again but there is a lot to unpack before they can commit to each other. I thought it was a sweet and emotional story and I enjoyed reading it.

This one is so sweet! Flynn is so vulnerable and really needs Jimmy’s TLC. I love that they fit so well together despite their differences.
Jimmy has quite the frat boy mentality in the beginning. He finally realizes the gift he’s being giving in Flynn’s trust, and those days are over. Flynn carries such a burden of guilt even though he did nothing to earn it. Billy is a piece of work that doesn’t deserve any of them!
It was good to see it all come together. They had to work for it, but they got their happy ever after!

Falling for my Ex's Twin is another sweet and steamy story from Colette Davison. I was hooked right from the start! Jimmy's old crush and his twin brothers ex, Flynn comes back into the picture and I needed to know what happened between them. I couldn't put this book down. The more the story unfolded, the more I just fell in love with them. I really enjoyed this and was left feeling heart happy, definitely recommend!

This was a journey for Jimmy and Flynn and I love how Colette Davison takes us with them. The book begins with misunderstandings and misgivings and each step that brings the characters closer involves communication and reflection for both men.

I love how healing the journey is and how we see the complexity of their relationship as it grows deeper. I also love that they choose each other, despite their shared toxic past.

This was a cute way to spend the day. It started out a little too much for me, it was a drunk scene which can be my favorite, but the humor fell flat for me so I was very worried. Luckily, past that point I was able to enjoy this one. Ultimately, I'm not sure it will stand out for me and some of the dialogue felt a little corny. But I didn't put it down either.

Two adorable MCs with a bit of a complicated past, written in a great way!
I enjoyed Jimmy's and Flynn's story a lot, with all the emotions captured in a very enjoyable way. The author did a great job navigating their dynamic and making it beliveable.

Enjoyed

I liked this one better than the last one. Both men are good characters. I had to read past the first chapter because it was awkward but getting to know them both made this story good in the end.

Being away at university, Jimmy is enjoying his life. When he meets the new farm hand at his best friend’s home, he is hit with a face from his past.
Flynn stirs up old feelings in Jimmy and him being his twin brother’s ex, makes their relationship more complicated.
But, not that they are in the same town, they get to spend more time together and they rekindle the friendship they once had which slowly leads to more.

A story of starting over, finding love with the right person and learning it to value oneself. The characters are well written and the story is engaging.
