An amazing glimpse of Chicago and parts of Illinois from the late 1930’s to the mid 1940’s. Mostly portraits of people on the street and in their homes. This book was assembled in 1989 to go along with an exhibition of photographs from the National Archives. As a Chicagoan I found this an incredible work. Even more so as my grandmother and great grandparents were living in Chicago on the Soutb Side during most of the years depicted in this work. While I don’t think any of my relatives are in this work I’m sure my relatives passed by some of the streets and buildings.
