Firstly I'd like to appreciate the cover, the art and the title of this book because look how beautiful they are💚
This book has a lot of tropes ..rival clans, prophecy, the last surviving heir and much more but somehow it wasn't complicated. Hannah escaping captivity and then choosing to walk straight into enemy territory immediately sets the tone, and I was hooked by how high the stakes felt . I did struggle in the beginning to get into the world but once I started getting the feel of it,it was definitely something (good).
Political tension, buried truths, gods being mentioned in passing, characters clearly hiding things,it all made the world feel bigger than just the main plot. The castle scenes, secret conversations, and the constant fear around prophecy really kept things moving. Apart from this it's a multi pov book so that added to the mystery and layering of secrets.
Hannah and Noa’s dynamic was EVERYTHING! She’s constantly trying to stay away from him and somehow that just makes things worse (for her). Their interactions added that slow, simmering tension I enjoy.
That said, I did get pulled out of the story a few times. It was kinda hard to keep up with the timelines and newspapers.
One thing I loved a lot is there's description about all the Gods and their history at the end which explains A TON. And you can even determine your own TRIAD!! how cool is that??
This book was originally published in Portuguese and it has been translated to English but I didn't feel that at all. There were no words or meanings that were lost in translation.
Overall, a solid fantasy read with interesting lore and enough tension to keep me hooked.
Definitely curious about what comes next

The characters, each driven by their own motivations, kept me turning the pages. Everyone has a role to play, some lay low, while others simply trying to protect what matters most to them. Set in mythology, fantasy, prophecy, and a subtle touch of magic, the story explores belief systems that divide the people, with loyalties split between supporting or betraying the ruling clan.

With so many truths buried and motives carefully concealed, the MMC’s determination to uncover the past leads him closer to the FMC who is the sole surviving heir of a legendary clan branded as the enemy of his own ruling clan. This connection adds tension and emotional depth, especially as alliances blur and loyalties are tested.

I did struggle at times to fully grasp the role of the deities in the upheaval and the fall of the reigning clan, but that may be intentional designed to keep readers intrigued until the next installment. For now, the story remains wrapped in unanswered questions, layering mystery over action and leaving a lingering sense of anticipation for what’s to come. I think the author delivers good "translation" of the story although its not the author's primary language to begin with.

I have good time reading this book, and thankful to be given the opportunity to read this in advance.

The Portal: Wrath of Anandi is a dark portal romantasy with a really intriguing core idea, and it landed at 3 stars for me. The story throws a modern heroine into a brutal, magic‑ruled world where gods, monsters, and mortals collide, and leans hard into tropes like enemies to lovers, fated mates, and “touch him and die,” all wrapped in a lush, myth‑inspired setting. The vibes are strong—atmospheric, angsty, and sensual—and there are some powerful emotional moments and striking visuals that will absolutely work for readers who love their fantasy intense and dramatic.
At the same time, I often found myself confused, especially around the magic system, the rules of the world, and some character motivations. It sometimes felt like I was missing pieces of the puzzle, which pulled me out of the story and made it harder to stay fully immersed, even though the premise itself really interested me. I wanted just a bit more clarity and grounding to match the ambition of the worldbuilding and the emotional stakes.
Overall, The Portal: Wrath of Anandi is an interesting, high‑vibe portal romantasy with lots of appeal for fans of dark, trope‑heavy fantasy romance, but for me, the confusion around the world and plot kept it at 3 stars rather than higher. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A story of two people intertwined by fate, told through multiple voices.

Plot: The plot seemed to really thrive off the tropes that are referenced in the description and the advertisement of the book. Almost from the beginning you know which character is related to which archetype, and they follow those roles quite faithfully, not giving the reader much room for wondering. Where the plot shined to me was the complexity and amount of events, making the story quite rich in action.

Characters: This book boasts a multitude of characters, all of whom interact, and have their own thoughts about the events of the story, told via an omniscient narrator. If the reader is looking for complete escapism-level fantasy, modern human names in this one might be hard to get over. Though it’s not a dig, just a note.

Setting: I really liked the world-building and the lore-setting in this book. Deities are written quite characteristically and split into believable “areas of power” if I could call it that. Also, they are referenced by the narrator within the story which makes all of it feel like part of a bigger picture; it helps the reader to see the world through the inhabitants' eyes. Also works well with the depictions of the castles / halls that heroes are in, and, really, just gives some depth to this universe. However I really struggled to understand what year / era the story is supposed to be based in. I expected to see only fantasy castles, endless sunsets, shimmering magic, wondrous masked balls, starry skies and ship-ridden seas and then BAM! Newspapers. I searched it up and apparently newspapers are a thing since 1700s, but somehow it broke my immersion, and I really struggled to get back in. But I’m guessing for the review purposes, I think clarity is what I’d have wanted to see more - more descriptions of the imagery, of views, or the daily life of the characters; think the morning town song in Beauty and the Beast, where people go about their day and Belle just follows them through. I think that would have really helped.

Writing: The translation I believe was made by the author, which is an immense feat in itself. Most descriptions are quite straight to the point; there is no detailed “painting” with words to describe the picture, taste, or feeling, which sometimes leaves things almost lingering in the air, and makes the reader wonder if there was supposed to be more? Not everyone cares about it though, so it’s just a personal preference. I can surely say that the book starts slow, but then picks up both plot- and writing-wise, encouraging the reader to continue.

In conclusion,, this book’s tone was light, easy to digest, and somewhat straightforward. The plot, supported by a colourful bunch of main and secondary characters, moved quickly, and the amount of events was expanding the universe, making it buzzy and busy, capturing the reader’s attention and wanting you to read more. The multi-POV definitely helped to keep it entertaining. This book was not my usual style therefore some things I didn’t like, but I tried to leave the review impartially, commenting only on the things that stood out to me.

I am very grateful for a chance to read this book and wanted to say thank you to the author for this.

This book blew me away! The first few chapters were a little confusing because there was so much information presented, but it was so interesting I couldn’t stop reading and I was hooked. As I kept reading, pieces of the puzzle started to come together, which was so satisfying. Yes, this book has magic, prophecies, and some other popular tropes, but this book showcased those in a way that felt fresh and unique.

The world building was incredible and so immersive. This book was heavy on the plot and also featured multiple romances. The romance between Hannah and Noa was full of angst and tension, which I absolutely loved. This is multiple POV and every single character adds to the plot and storyline.

The end of the book has a full rundown of all the Gods, which was immensely helpful because that’s a huge part of the story but I had a hard time keeping it all straight. This is one of those books you could read multiple times and pick up something new each time.

This book ends on a cliffhanger and I am dying for book 2! Please do yourself a favor and check out The Portal. This book deserves more attention.

The Portal – Wrath of Anandi

This book pulled me into its world faster than I expected. Wrath of Anandi blends mythology, fantasy, and emotional tension in a way that feels both epic and personal. The story has a strong sense of destiny running through it, but it’s the characters — their fear, anger, loyalty, and love — that really make it work.

Anandi herself is a fascinating presence. There’s power behind her, but also pain, and that combination makes her feel dangerous in the best way. The portal mythology adds a layer of mystery that kept me turning pages, especially as secrets slowly start to unravel and the stakes keep rising.

What I enjoyed most is how the book balances action with emotion. There are moments of magic and conflict, but also quieter scenes that give the characters room to breathe and grow. You can feel the weight of the past and the consequences of every choice, which makes the story feel more meaningful than just another fantasy adventure.

If you enjoy portal fantasy, mythology-inspired worlds, and stories where destiny and heartbreak collide, this one is definitely worth checking out.

This story reads like a fantasy soap opera. It follows multiple characters through out the book and they all have an agenda. Some are looking to marry, some to hide their identity, some believe in a prophecy, and some believe those people are heretics. There is a side of magic thrown in as well. If you enjoy character driven fantasy stories like For whom the Belle tolls or Ash and Ink, I definitely think you should try this one. I believe this novel was very popular in its original language and rightfully so. It is very well written.
