A big favorite with my 5 yr old son. A solid level 2 reader with a fun and engaging story even a mother can relate to. While the son works on becoming a better soccer player, he struggles with being embarrassed by his mom. Mom's everywhere can relate this struggle to show love for your kids as they get older. My son loved everything about the story, including how Ryan had to struggle to get better at soccer. My son doesn't like to struggle and prefers sometime's to do things that are only easy for him. Overall a great addition to any children's library.

For a formulaic story, this book does quite well. Explores the issue of dealing with an enthusiastic and loving, yet embarrassing mom.
