They're turning up the heat…on love

Haunted by a life he couldn't save, Omar Ewing walked away from his successful family business to become a firefighter—risking his own life every day. Now he's sworn to track down an arsonist who's already struck twice. Working with beautiful local journalist Gabrielle Leonard definitely has its perks…until the man who finds it safer to play the field is in danger of losing his heart.

Gabrielle has her own reasons for teaming up with Omar to investigate the suspicious blazes. But the seductive San Francisco firefighter is bringing her dangerously close to a flame that has burned her before. With each scorching kiss, Omar is branding her his woman. But when Gabrielle becomes a target, will she be able to trust her future to the man who has vowed to protect her at all costs?

I was initially drawn to the book because of the cover. It is simple yet beautiful with the smoke in the background. The cover and synopsis made me think I was in store for one HOT read, but it ended up being lukewarm. Omar has all of the makings to be the type of book hero we all dream of and Gabrielle is the strong-willed heroine that will be "tamed" by Omar. Perrin writes an entertaining and fast-paced story but it was just a tad bit too predictable for my taste which is why I rate it a 3.5 instead of 4.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

In the end, after 4 books (or parts I should say) our lovers finally get it together and be together. That is not a spoiler because it is the point of the book basically. The spoiler part would be to tell what happened!

I like Thorn and Lexie as a couple, they're good together. They had a closure to their storyline, as in HEA, but other issues in the book did not so there must be more coming in relation to the good versus evil.

I may read on if it is a complete book, not serialized. Donna Grant is an incredible writer but I don't think this was one of her better, not so much the telling of the story but the incompleteness.

A love story about when you are your own worst enemy. Omar Ewing, fire fighter, is attracted to Gabrielle Leonard, journalist. No matter how hard he tries - she shoots him down. He's trying to find an arsonist snd Gabrielle airs information on the air without informing the police. While she's protecting her heart, Omar may have to protect her from her own stubbornness.

I ended up LOVING this book. Well done, Kayla Perrin! Gabrielle is a reporter whose life has been touched by an arsonist, so she is dedicated to solving this case. Omar is a firefighter with a playboy past. Omar is immediately attracted to Gabrielle but Gabrielle has things to do and being toyed with is not one of those things. I love Gabrielle shooting Omar down. I love how she comes to open up and both of their emotional journeys. Omar has a few crazy ex girlfriends, which I didn't love, but I did love Gabrielle's best friend, Pauline. The romance and suspense are pretty even and well balanced. I highly recommend this book!

I really enjoyed reading Omar Ewing, Ocean City's firefighter and journalist, Gabrielle Leonard's love story. From the beginning to the end, Omar had a tough fight on his hands to gain the love and trust from a scorned woman that's been hurt too many times to trust someone as fine and handsome as Omar! While trying to catch the city's arsonist, they both embark on a journey to find true love even though they both have their own demons to deal with and overcome in order to live happily-ever-after! Awesome read.

WOW talk about control freak....this heroine takes it to a new level. I felt bad for Omar but at least she realized the error of her ways at the end with the help of Pauline. But man was she stupid...how you gonna test your boyfriend/ fiance by sending your cousin to come on to him. Really?! Who does that? I have trust issues but there is no way in hell I would send in a temptation like that that's like putting honey in front of a bear and saying to the bear don't eat that.

Very good read

I am truly enjoying this series. It's always nice when characters are brought forward into each book. This was a easy read l, however, I liked how both characters were strong and not a push over for each other. It was a nice love story. I hope there are more in this series.

Omar and Gabrielle are fire and water together - can they stand a love affair.

Omar (all Alpha man) firefighter get's involved with the journalist Gabrielle hell bent on finding the arsonist that set her families business and treasure a fire. Watching this love affair come true was pleasant, riveting, a page turner around every corner.

Great read.

Omar and Gabriella are two people lost in their own fear of life past. Well written story with lessons learned and taught on trust, friendship, and understanding. At times Gabby was a pain, my favorite character was her no nonsense best friend Pauline. I hope she gets her own story.

I'm sorry but I stopped reading book at chapter 6. This book wasn't igniting nothing in me. it was slow & boring. I didn't feel the chemistry or fire in this one like I felt in BURNING DESIRE or FLAMES OF PASSION.
