This light vs. dark adventure will speak to young adults and adults alike. Four teens (& their parents) deal with real life struggles on top of trying to become who they are meant to be-Adima, the light weavers. Saving the world as we know it while figuring out what your spirit animal is can get you into some sticky situations! Many thought provoking conversations and situations accompany this saga.

A quote that really showcases the ageless wisdom of this debut novel is “If you close yoursel

One of the prime difficulties in writing this type of book is putting equal amounts of adventure with the emotions of an every day existence. Luckily, this is what Schatz does so effectively. In the changing points of view, each teen gets his or her moment to talk not just about what they're doing on their adventures, but the real-life moments of pain and joy that characterize everyone's life.
The only reason this book got 4 stars instead of five is that sometimes those moments of every day life

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

Some kids in the American Southwest are chosen to save the world from an endless legion of energy vampires. They are helped by a shaman that talks like Wolfman Jack.

A meandering novel without a lot of structure. Confusing at times, the way books that strive to mystical tend to be. At least the glossary of Native American terms helped somewhat.

Some might like it, but in the end, I just found it a mish mash.

I’ve been a writer, clown, tour guide, university professor, cook and more. Other people’s lives…how they see the world is endlessly fascinating - particularly the odd and interesting. Growing up in the Southwest, Native American views of the world and our connection with nature are ingrained. I like books with diverse characters and real situations that are not romances or slaughter-fests and mak ...more

“In the physical world,
for every action there is an opposite reaction.
Throw a ball against a wall and the wall pushes back.
The ball bounces.
In the world of the web of light, it is different.
For every action, there is a result,
but it rarely is the opposite.
Throw love at something. The result is more love.
Throw understanding.
The result is more understanding.
Even if you throw love at hate, the result is more love.
What do YOU throw?
It is your choice.
Your responsibility
There is always a result.
Not an opposite reaction.”
