This was a quick read that I really enjoyed. It had a good hook and the ending was a zinger.

Won't win any awards but gets the job done. Not happy the heroine ends up agreeing with the hero's accusation she 'should have tried harder' to track him down (you return multiple unopened letters from someone, your ignorance was your choice, you ask me), but he wasn't a serious jerk about it, and there were a couple of other times he touched on jerkiness and then reeled himself back to reality. The kid is a little too perfect, but at least she isn't annoying. And the mystery/this is part of a series thing was about at the right level for a romance novel, and well integrated in the main conflict.
This author could teach Diane Palmer a lot about how to hook someone into a series. If the first Palmer I ever read had been one of the later ones in the Long Tall Texans series, that would have been the last Palmer I ever read. This is the first Christine Rimmer I've read and I'm tempted to go track down the rest of the series, which I NEVER do with a category series unless I heard about it from a friend in the first place (i.e., the series theme is particularly compelling to me, like midwives or something).

I found this novel long winded and kind of boring. It wasn't the worst that I've read but it most certainly wasn't the best. I think the novel could of been written a lot better, to entertain the reader more. This novel was way too straight forward, for the plot.
