-----SECOND BITE is a scorching rejected mate romance featuring a possessive alpha hero desperate for redemption, a fierce heroine who's done being anyone's prey, and a fated bond that refused to break. This full-length novel contains mature themes, spicy scenes, and a guaranteed HEA.
This was a compelling storyline despite the couple having no chemisty. Our fmc and mmc have clearly been through something traumatic on both sides, but there’s not nearly enough groveling or working through it. The entire plot feels rushed to the point where we’re missing out on what really feels important between the two of them. There’s no developing romance at all, just flip a page and suddenly they’re a couple again. Our fmc is very much not interested in anything with the mmc and then just decided to kiss him randomly and suddenly everything’s pretty much fixed between them. The story was setting up to have a nice gradual believable romance and decided to just throw it out the window and rush the plot so completely. If this was marketed as a novella it would be more understandable, but the potential was thoroughly wasted despite how interesting and invested in the story you get.
