Authors crave the spotlight, but in Seacastle they're dying for it.When Seacastle hosts a vintage fair and a prestigious writers’ conference under the same roof, Tanya Bowe expects nothing more dramatic than a strong haggle. She’s several months pregnant and is doing her best to stay out of trouble as everyone, including her partner Harry, is treating her as if she is made of crystal. But then her sister Helen admits to writing a book and asks her to be her wingman at the conference. Tanya can’t resist a foray into a different universe.
They enter a world where the lot of celebrity authors and their agents contrasts with that of the aspiring authors desperate for a shot. Egos clash and catty remarks abound. When an elderly author is found dead in her room, nobody turns a hair. But then another octogenarian writer expires, and Tanya is drawn into a web of secrets the literary world would much prefer to keep hidden. Ghostwritten books, stolen ideas, bitter grudges, and desperate ambition swirl through the conference, each thread pointing to someone with everything to gain… and nothing to lose.

With her sister Helen quietly pursuing her own writing dreams, Harry acting suspiciously, and the entire conference on edge, Tanya must navigate one last mystery before her world changes forever.Fans of Richard Osman’s humour and Agatha Christie’s twists will feel right at home in Seacastle, where coastal crime always comes with a side of cake.

Well, here we are at the end of our time with the Seacastle Mysteries and I was honestly quite emotional going into this final book in this brilliant series.

I really wasn't sure I was ready to say goodbye to all of the characters who have made a home in my heart over the last 11 books!

But this was such an amazing send off and the perfect storyline to end on.

If you haven't been following the series already - (why not!?) - you could still read this as a standalone, but you'll definitely miss out on the character intricacies, which really stood out in this final book.

I absolutely loved this storyline.

We get lots of bookish insight as Tanya and Helen bond over an author and writers' conference. But as ever, there's a death among the attendees and Tanya is once again drawn into the investigation.

Given the way we ended the last book, I felt that this was a really nice gentle investigation - not too much running around and little danger, which really suited both the circumstances and the winding down of the series.

The action mainly takes place at the Palace Hotel but don't worry, we still head to the Vintage for a few lattes and cake.

As ever, the case was a tricky one which keeps us guessing until the end - but woven in amongst this, we also see lots of updates from all our favourite characters and this was done so well, leaving us satisfied that all loose ends are tied up and we're leaving the gang happy and settled.

I'm giving no more spoilers out, you'll just have to read for yourselves - but I will say that you might need the tissues ready as I definitely shed a little tear at the end.

I love PJ's writing and humour throughout this series. Such a great set of characters and some brilliant cases to get stuck into.

I've loved every second!

I'm a little sad - but also hugely excited to see what's next - I can't wait to dive into a new series and meet the characters - I wonder what stories will unfold next ....

I’m so sad to see one of my favourite series come to an end. However, it was the perfect way to end, with the characters I’ve grown to love coming full circle. Tanya, now expecting twins with her partner Harry, can’t resist getting involved in one last mystery when a well-known author is found dead at a local writing convention. This time, she teamed up with her sister Helen to solve the crime, becoming the perfect duo. I really enjoyed seeing Helen come into the spotlight in this book. The relationship she and Tanya had was brilliant. I loved their sisterly bond. I found the author’s portrayal of Tanya‘s doubts, fears and uncertainty about becoming a mother so relatable and honest, which was perfect. Harry’s unwavering support was heartwarming as well. The way all of the characters I’ve grown to love rallied around as well, reinforcing the way the tight knit community has developed throughout the series was fantastic. Even Hades was embracing the impending arrivals. I can’t recommend this book and series enough. I would’ve loved to have known what happened to Herbert though.

I love The Seacastle Mysteries series and this final book is the perfect ending to the series. It felt so bittersweet but the ending was so satisfying.
I love Tanya and the gang, I love how they're all created realistically even when faced with so many murders. I just love them all and reading this series was like welcoming old friends back each time I opened a book.
I loved how Final Script was based on a book conference, I loved how everything played out and I felt like I was getting a sneaky peek behind the scenes with authors - it felt so realistic.
I love PJ Skinner's writing style and I love how you can just fall into these stories with ease. I'm sad to say goodbye to Seacastle but I'm looking forward to seeing what is next from PJ

Written up to the author's usual standard, this was a great murder mystery with a very fluid list of suspects! It also had a few surprises along the way and kept you guessing right up to the final reveal as to who the murderer was. As this is the final book in the Seacastle Mysteries series, I liked the way it ended in that there were no loose ends and you weren't left wondering "I wonder what happened to....".

I have been able to post a review so quickly after publication as I am part of a beta reader group that does some proofreading prior to publication.

Perfect End

What a brilliant end to a brilliant set of mysteries. Everyone gets a happy ending while keeping Seacastle's crime rate down

A Wondeful Ending to a Wonderful Series

It was a delight to follow Tanya and Harry's story through so many mysterious deaths. I will be sad to say goodbye, but Final Script was the perfect ending to the series.

As good as all the others

With its usual twists and turns, it is a fitting end to the series, as Tanya moves on to her new life.
