A frequently engrossing and valuable reference work that I would have rated even higher had it refrained from repeatedly misinforming the reader about medical ethics in the Islamic world.

(The text could also have benefited from better proofing. The spelling of given names in this work is eccentric in some cases, incorrect in others.)
