5 - Don't be sad that it's over, be glad that it happened. Stars!

Jill Mansell always manages to turn what you expect to initially be a heart breaking tragedy, into a story that as it develops offers hope, humor and new beginnings. Three Amazing Things About You certainly fulfills those parameters, and then some.

Three women; Tasha, Hallie and Flo, living three completely different lives, in three separate parts of the UK, their lives gradually entwine as the book progresses, sometimes in small un

Jill Mansell always manages to make me feel like I’m reading a book version of Love Actually where we’re following three different storylines and somehow they all intertwine at the end, wrapped up with a neat little ribbon and a satisfied smile on my face.

First of all, there’s Hallie, who suffers from cystic fibrosis and is on the waiting list for a new pair of lungs. It could be any day now, but she knows there’s not much time left. On top of that, she’s got feelings for her handsome doctor, wh

I think it makes a huge difference when the book is about a place you know. I love getting three different women stories and how they all came together. I know this is more womens fiction but I still felt the romance was slightly rushed on all three stories and also the heroes were all quite weak.

Women's fiction/chick lit
Books based in UK
Great bunch of characters
Not overly emotional
Some humour

I absolutely loved this read. It is three love stories in one, with each story taking place in different parts of the country and for quite a lot of the read, each couple is completely unknown to the others. Their paths do cross from time to time but they are really unaware of each other until their stories eventually merge in a tale that is quite bittersweet and emotional. I certainly needed those tissues at the end! I loved reading about each couple, Flo and Zander, Rory and Tasha and Hallie a ...more

At the start of the book we meet Hallie Kingsley and learn she is travelling to London for a lung transplant. She has advanced Cystic Fibrosis. We then step back in time to learn her back-story and to the point when she begins her romantic interest in her GP Dr Luke Hilton. Although somewhat house-bound, Hallie runs a successful on-line advice website and has a circle of supportive friends. Luke is attracted to her also, but the professional relationship between them prevents any closer connecti ...more

Well this is the first Mansell book I have loved. I think the reason why though is that we follow three separate couples/groups and then we get to see how in the world they all connect up with each other at the end. I maybe cried a bit too when I got to certain parts. I will say that I didn't buy the character of Flo getting along with her boyfriend's sister towards the end of the book. She (Lena) I found to be terrible. I don't know if I could have been so forgiving due to an accident that I st ...more

This is the third Jill Mansell book that I have included on my blog and I have made no secret of the fact that she is one of my favourite authors. I love whatever she writes and this, her 26th novel, is one of her best.

It is the story of three young women, all are strangers to each other but the way their lives connect and collide is one of the joys of the book. With the exception of one (and you will soon realise who that is!), all the characters are extremely engaging and likeable and the type

Romance, hope, love, sacrifice ........ Yep, it's a good one!

I am so glad I requested a book by this author and quickly discovered I have been totally missing out on what she has to offer all these years. Unusual plot lines, witty and humorous conversation, off the chart likeable characters were all accounted for.

I don't know how she did it, but I was laughing one moment, teary-eyed the next, then found myself smiling again.

‘Three Amazing Things About You’ was incredibly disappointing and lacked the charm and breeziness present in most of the author’s works. I have read and enjoyed many books by Jill Mansell, hence I can safely say that this book is one of her weakest.

Mansell’s formula tends to revolve around a few storylines which then intersect and connect perfectly. However, the three storylines here were completely boring and took forever to merge. There’s Hallie who’s in love with her doctor, Luke but she can’

I read quite a few of this authors books a few years ago. Have you ever read an author and then not read them for ages? When even the name of the author brings you back to a certain time in your life. Well that's what happened with this author. So when this book popped up on Net Galley I requested to read it. Jill certainly didn't disappoint me. I was transported back in time and I loved every minute of it.

This Jill Mansell book has all of her signature storytelling genius (humor, quirky characters, and fun dialogue) with a shot of sentimentality and seriousness. I loved it and shed many tears as well. When the book starts off, you know one of the characters will die which saves the life of Hallie, but you don't know who. As you read on, you hold your breath wondering who it will be and when it will hit. I loved all the characters, and hated to leave their world. When a book can make you smile, cr ...more

Some story just hit you right in the feel.

This is one of it.

The story started off pretty slow because you have these characters who seem to have no connection with each other. And truly, there was none.

Until one fateful incident that change the lives of so many people.

It's been years since my last Jill Mansell novel. I forgot how much I love her and how her simple story has a lot of meanings.

Three Amazing Things About You made me laugh but it also made me cried. That is a sign of a good stor

Hallie is living with Cystic Fibrosis. Living is not easy, she struggles to breathe, she needs a wheelchair and a constant supply of oxygen, she often has to bail out of socialising with friends and she knows that if she doesn't get a new pair of lungs soon that she probably won't be around for much longer.

Despite this, Hallie is an upbeat sort of girl. She dishes out advice via her website where she always asks people to let her know 'three amazing things about you'. The story opens as Hallie i

I absolutely love Jill Mansell. She has never written a book I don't like. Some have been 4 stars, some have been 5 and this is a 5. There is a more serious side to this novel, from a medical perspective, as well as a tugging at the heartstrings perspective, however there is plenty of frivolity for those who just like their chick lit to be chick lit. I did not see the ending coming and was delighted by it. I had wondered how all the characters fitted together and I confess to being confused now ...more

There are three engaging central characters in this story with a supporting cast who are equally as interesting, although not always likeable, grrrr to Zanders sister!

Hallie has Cystic Fybrosis and is madly in love with Luke, her doctor. Knowing he is off limits, she keeps her feelings to herself, dispensing advice instead as an agony aunt on her website 'Three things about you'.

Flo falls for Zander, but complications with his rather vile sister keep their relationship from running smoothly.

It's been almost over a month and my review was still showing RTC. Finally...

I like Jill Mansel's books. They are witty, funny and keeps you going. The three tales entwining together made me realise that the world is indeed small and miracles can happen albeit very rare.

I wasn't fully on terms on how Zander had it's end but I like how things were wrapped up in this book. There were some great one liners (I am going to use thrm in my daily life)

Favorite Quotes:

On the flight to Nice, Tasha found herself squashed between an overweight middle-aged Frenchman who appeared to have been gargling with garlic, and an underweight young one who reeked of stale cigarettes, fell asleep on her shoulder and snored like a backfiring moped. As far as fantasy Frenchmen sandwiches went, this one was singularly lacking in glamour.

Sometimes I completely forget how old I am, then get the most terrible shock when I catch sight of myself in the mirror.

This book! oh man. it is the second book of Jill Mansell I have read and it is amazing! Or like the back of the book says, just heavenly, just Jill.

This book has everything. Romance, friendship, family, heartbreak, humor. This book made me laugh and cry. It made me want to be friends with the main characters. They are all so well written.

We follow three main characters in the span of around two years. We see their stories and the stories of their friends and families. Like I said all the charact

What a wonderful book- it has everything. The characters are very engaging and have you wondering how their stories will combine eventually.

Hallie has cystic fibrosis and has reached the stage where she needs a lung transplant to survive. She secretly runs an online agony aunt blog and people regularly check in to read her no nonsense advice.

I loved all three female characters and the things they are dealing with. Found myself holding my breath in parts sure something awful was about to befall o

Thank you to whoever left this book on the shelf! I loved this. Perfect chick-lit. Totally sucked me in and made me sob my heart out.

I really liked that this touched upon organ donation. I made the decision to become an organ donor after reading Dean Koontz's Your Heart Belongs to Me. Odd choice I know considering it's a book where someone is trying to take the donated heart. I had reservations about it for years but when I read books like this, I feel I made the right choice. I hope this book

Absolutely loved this book from start to finish, it was so easy to be pulled into the characters lives. It was so full of emotions, happy, sad and heart breaking.

It follows the lives of:

Hallie, who is 28 and has Cystic Fibrosis (CF), which is a life limiting disability. Being stuck in a wheelchair and constantly hooked up to an oxygen tank limits what she can do. Hallie is on the lung transplant list, which can't come quick enough! To pass a prolonged stay in hospital Hallie set up a webpage cal

Ah I adored this book! So well written and easy to read - it deals with life limiting illness and organ donation so could have felt quite heavy going in places, but it didn't at all. There are three main stories running in parallel that all come together beautifully in the end - although I thought I had a couple of the twists and turns worked out but I was wrong! Fantastic characters - the kind that you really find yourself rooting for right from the beginning.
