The star: Joley Drake was born with a legacy of unexpected magical gifts, but it was the gift of singing that made her an overnight sensation, a rock and roll goddess trapped by fame, fortune, and ambition. Heated by the flush of success, Joley could have any man she wanted. But there's only man who can give her what she really needs.

I am in love Photobucket and I don't care that he's taken and a fictional character. He's just SO DAMN PERFECT!

I loved every domineering, over-protective, swoony thing he did or said <3
UNLIKE the heroine Photobucket

Example: Ilya wants to be with Joley, forever, not just as a one night stand.

YOWZA!! If dark, brooding, dominant Alphas trip your trigger, then you are in for a treat when you pick up "Turbulent Sea" by Christine Feehan! This is the sixth book in her series about 7 magical sisters and the special men each find to fulfill her destiny. Although the series is not erotica, it's definitely hot enough to keep us horny doggettes happy.

Joley is the sister with magic in her voice and she combined that voice with her love for music into a career as the lead singer for a rock band.

Turbulent Sea is the sixth book in the Drake Sisters series by Christine Feehan. I love everything that Feehan writes, and this was certainly no exception. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put this book down until I was finished.

Joley Drake has the gift of voice. She can compel people to feel and act a certain way, just by speaking or singing. She has made a very successful career for herself as a professional singer. Joley and her band have legions of fans that

I must admit that I loved the Ghostwalkers books much more than this one. I think it was because I am not enamored with fictional subjects about celebrity. The elements pertaining to Joley's world-wide stardom as a rock singer seemed to overshadow the narrative in this book. I wonder if Ms. Feehan has a favorite female singer who inspired her to write this story and to model Joley after. I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is yes.

It was a very good story. If I hadn't read and fell for the Gho

I feel like I waited forever for this book and man, it did not diappoint. I started out about half in love with Ilya and by the time the book was done, I am completely head over heals for this guy. He is simply awesome.

I can't tell you how much I really enjoyed this book. This book was a little like the Carpathian series, more so than the other Drake sisters. But there is nothing wrong with that.

I loved the twist with Ilya at the end. I found myself grinning like a fool. Kudos to Feehan for this
Joley Drake, rock star sensation, has been growing a little fed up with her life of late. Despite the carefree picture she paints of herself, she craves for normality and a life away from the limelight. She hides her true feelings from everyone, including her sisters, but she cannot hide them—or herself—from the one man she knows should keep her distance from.

Ilya Prakenskii is a man of many secrets and Joley is one of them. When he first heard her voice, she brought light into his barren world
3 Stars...I liked it.

Every time I pick up a Feehan book I'm reminded of why I don't read books by her very often. She does great with internal dialogue, plot and characters but her style of conversation between characters have always been a bit awkward for me to read.

This is book six in a seven book series. I read it as a stand alone, and I have to say it wasn't hard to get a "feel" of the large and close family. Of course I wasn't familiar with all the previous characters and their stories but

Ever since Ilya Prakenskii was introduced as a secondary character in this series and possible love interest for Joley that I have been convinced that their book would be one of my favourites. I love mysterious bad boys with a dangerous aura and Ilya, from the first, seemed exactly one of that kind.

I have realised that in my latest reviews of the series I have been somewhat remiss in mentioning the Drake sister’s powers and how that influences their stories. The truth is that sometimes I think F
Turbulent Sea is book 6 in Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters series. Unfortunately, it's the last book in the series until June! What am I going to do? Luckily, I have about a bajillion books on my tbr list just waiting for me to pick them up. But I digress, back to the review.

Turbulent Sea is the story of world famous musician Joley Drake, and secretive bodyguard Ilya Prakenskii. Joley is the sixth daughter of the enchanting Drake family. Joley is a charismatic performer, and shares a powerful m
Yet another disappointment I am starting to wonder why I put myself through this. After the let down with the Hannah and Jonas story line it has gone even further down hill for me. I missed the other sisters; I think the interactions between them are part of why the first few worked for me. Yet again the Russian Mob thing is so overdone and I am guessing it will have a huge part in the last book as well. I was also disappointed in the lack of magic in this one. There was so much of it in every b ...more

Okay. Proper review on the way.

He marks her as his mate permanently without her permission.

She doesn’t want children, but he deliberately impregnates her without her permission (how is this better than rape??).

He has a family legacy that he has to impregnate her SEVEN times – whether she wants it or not. She's a famous singer, so there goes her career! The author is from a massive family (over a dozen), and has a massive number of children (nearly a dozen) – this is NOT romantic for the
This is not a stand-alone book. I realized it in the first pages but it was too late, I was already hooked and couldn’t put it down. This story was my type of story, with my kind of hero and a great heroine, a very passionate and steamy love story, fast-moving action plot, with magic elements that intertwined perfectly, and the writing was superb. Now I’ll have to buy all of the previous books…

Another great Drake sister novel by Feehan, I had been looking forward to Joley and Ilya's story since they first met! (In Hannah and Jonas's book, I think). Their chemistry is awesome, Although it can be read alone, I would recommend reading the other books first, that way you have the full history of this great couple!

No spoilers but I LOVED the twist about Ilya's family and the resulting twist that has on he and Joley's future! :)
This is the sixth book in the Drake sister's series by Christine Feehan. The Drake sisters are a paranormal romance suspense. The paranormal comes from the fact that the sisters possess a type of magic that resembles a mild form of witches though that is never stated that is what they are. They aren't the "charmed ones", but they are definitely stronger together than apart and each specialize in a different area. In Turbulent Sea it is the next to the youngest, Joley, whose magic is expressed ma ...more

I started this book twice before, but the first chapter turned me off and i put it aside for something else. This was strange, because I loved the earlier books in the series, although I was disappointed in Hannah's story. This time I decided there had to be more, so I read past that first chapter, and I'm happy to say that there was more to like than dislike. In fact, there was a lot to like about Ilya, and I absolutely loved the twist about his heritage!

Things I liked:

Christine Feehan’s Turbulent Sea is book 6 in the Drake Sisters series. I have to admit, I have been looking forward to this story above all the others. Not for the heroine, Joley, but for Ilya Prakenskii, the mysterious Russian we met in Oceans of Fire and who saved Hannah’s life in Safe Harbor .

PLOT SPOILERS: Joley is a rock star out on tour. She’s been getting threats for ages from stalkers and over-zealous fans, but now she’s facing real danger. A teenage girl disappeared at an after-part

This took a while for me to read because the first few chapters kind of bored me and it made me mad, not as mad as Safe Harbor made me, but still, I did want to throw this book a time or two....maybe three....okay so it was more than three times.

Anyway, the things I really didn't like was the fact that it took a little longer for things to get started. So she goes for a run and she has a bad feeling, great, but that was the end of it at that point. There was also a lot of teasing in this book, a

The story of Ilya and Joley had a rocky start in the previous books. They really didn't appear to like each other that much, at least on Joley's side of it. On Ilya's side, well, he didn't give much of anything away ever, so the verdict on whether he liked her was anyone's guess. That changed during Hannah's book, for me at least. When he became livid with how she went on national T.V. to show the world that the Reverend was a pervert, and how she hated that he had seen how she acted in order to ...more
I really loved this one. It wasn't perfect but I have to say that there were some outstanding things about this book that let me overlook the negatives.

I have a funny relationship with this series because even though there are some slightly cringeworthy elements and cliché's, I still find this series incredibly compelling and I just can't put the thing down once I start reading. I did skim a little bit when the detail or dialogue was going too in depth without telling me anything new, but on the
Enjoyed the characters, Joley Drake and Ilya Prakenskii, and the plot was different in that it centered around protecting a rock star as well as Russian Mafia, but the writing style weighed down the momentum for me. Too much narration that went on for too long bogged the story down. Rambling.

Joley first met Ilya several books ago in this series. He has reappeared here and there since with the building up of this story. I was abit shocked by how the band members' lifestyle were portrayed. All th

Book 6 of the Drake sisters Joley and Ilya
Ive got to say I wasn't sure about this book. I'd had so many hopes I was worried CF wouldn't be able to deliver them. I'm really glad to say she did better and beyond what I was expecting.
Joley has alway know Ilya would win in the end. Joley is very stubborn and doesn't like been told what to do even if for her safety. Ilya unfortunately sounds like he's always giving orders. They seem the complete opposite but work beautifully together.

I feel like Christine Feehan is hyped all over goodreads. Her plot was creative but her writing was plodding. Her exciting plot line was dragged down by Feehan's refusal to just let characters show what they are thinking.

For example (pg. 193 - picked at random):
Brian returned within a few minutes, his steps heavy, his shoulders slumped. He looked as if the weight of the world was on him.

Either sentence would have been enough. But don't worry, Feehan goes on:

I didn't read the first five books in the series but didn't have any problem knowing who was what. Perhaps I would have gotten more from the book if I had been more invested in the characters before this point but oh well. I needed a challenge read with a musician as a lead character in a romance and this fit the bill perfectly.

Overall, I liked the book. I'm not generally a fan of the alpha male 'I'm going to be a complete asshole and you're going to love me anyway.' But in this case I understoo

Recommends it for: women who love the feeling of sisterhood
This is my favorite of the Drake sisters books and one that could be read without having to read the others in the series.

Joley is not only a rock star, but has magic and is one of the 7 magical Drake sisters.
Ilya works for the Russian mob. He is dark, mysterious, sexy and has magic to rival Joley's.

When someone tries to kill Joley during her tour, Ilya is sent to protect her. But he wants her for himself and is willing to do anything to have her.

So, so good. It is my new favourite of the series right next to Libby's book. I loved Ilya and Joley, they make such a wonderful couple/team. The romance was super fun with all the teasing between the two and very intense.. Joley wouldn't have it any other way! Let's see what the last book of the series has got. I am rather curious, I must admit.

Ilya Prakenskii might have left his mark on Joley Drake, but in the end, it took everYthing to finally win her over. Joley is from a magical family. She might have always been drawn to the bad boys in life, but Ilya is the baddest. Even though he terrifies her, she is soothed by his own magical voice.

Very nice.
