Enjoyable continuation to the family's stories

I really enjoyed the whole Maxwell Brothers Series & love that they are available in a couple box sets & currently available with Kindle Unlimited & Audible memberships! I enjoyed the voice actors work as well as the author's writing. There's some spicy parts, but they work well with the stories & aren't just right in your face at every turn as some authors include - every reader's spice tolerance varies. I don't usually love sitting down to read because there's always something to do other than sit down to read. I decided to try Audible & utilize the Kindle/Audible syncing feature so I could read along with the narration if I was sitting down or listen only whole cooking, washing dishes, laundry, etc. I have open ear buds, so I can listen all day without ear fatigue & that way, nobody else has to listen to whatever book I am listening to (very helpful when the spicy parts pop up!). The syncing works great!

I love that all of the core Maxwell family members are in every book & that the books follow along in chronological order, so each book is a continuation of the overall timeline as a whole. The final book even closes out a storyline from the first book & gives a glimpse of the family's future in the final scenes so the reader gets some closure after falling in love with the whole family & wanting to know some of their future stories.

I grew up next door to my grandparents & have a lot of cousins on that side with quite a few aunts & uncles, so family has always been very important to me my whole life. I love that the Maxwell family tells the story of a close-knit family who all live near each other in the same city. My large family spread out as all of the cousins got married & moved to the larger metro area in our state, so we only all get together for bigger life events nowadays. I miss having about 30 people jammed into my grandparents house at holidays, so I loved the Maxwell family's get-togethers in the series.

I read this series because it was suggested to me & I'm glad that I gave it a try! I hadn't read Layla Hagen's writing before this & will start another of her Series right now!

Hold Me Forever is book two in the series by Layla Hagen. Tyler a well known and the best Hockey Goalie got in a bit of trouble defending his cousin Reese against her ex-fiancé. The guy came to a family function and had someone with him filming the altercation. So basically it was a set up for maybe blackmail. Any how the video went viral and caused issues for Tyler. On top of injuring his shoulder the Team owner benched him indefinitely. To clean up his image he volunteered with with a group of boys and worked with them to sharpen their hockey skills. His first meet with the kids is where he met the coordinator of the program Kendra and his life was forever changed. You have to understand Tyler lived for hockey. Nothing was more important to him then hockey, except of course his family. So when I say she changed his life forever that's a big deal. He realized having Kendra in his life, someone to love and take care of hockey played second fiddle. This was such a sweet read. I was kind of hoping Kendra's sister Emme would have hit it off with one of the Maxwell's but nope not in this book. I highly recommend this book.

Not as cute and wholesome as the first three books, and honestly I'm more invested in Gran's romance and life than the rest of the characters. I wanted to see more of Paisley and Gran. Despite that, I really enjoyed these, though I gotta say I enjoyed the final book the least out of all of them, it had too much pointless drama that could've been resolved way too easily. Kinda disappointed the series didn't finish with a bang, but these books were still cute and fun and I enjoyed them.
