What do you mean he’s been obsessed for 5 years?


“You’re mine, and everything I have and all I am are yours. My home, my heart, my family.”

If you can’t already tell, I’m a sucker for this very specific trope: “he has been obsessed with her for ..... years.” Just know that I’m gonna devour this book if it has it.

When I read The Blackwells of Montana series, I didn’t expect to be excited about reading Tucker and Darby’s story, and when their book was announced, I RAN TO SIGN UP.

“You’re incredible. You are changing my life for the better, Duchess. So don’t you ever think for a second that I don’t love the hell out of you. And you can say it back whenever you’re ready to meet me there. I’m in no rush.”

And the story didn’t disappoint. It was really bittersweet, with a lot of hurt/comfort and Tucker being the sweetest gentleman to ever exist.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series. It’s safe to say I’m definitely hooked. 🤭

Looking there is anyone that deserves a happy ever after it’s Darby Lexington. I was so happy to see her find a man that saw every inch of her (literally) and loved her through all of her past pain and trauma.

I was gone for Tucker Hendrix from the moment he called her Duchess and honestly I never recovered. This man was everything. (Also hearing Sebastian York say duchess in that voice, yeah that’s lethal 🫠🫠)

Lexington stories are always brutal but beautiful for me (iykyk) and Darby's was no different. What she went through broke me but her story was so beautifully written. Tucker's love for her, the way they both folded into each other's families, everything was so sweet. I love being back in this world with a whole cast of characters and stories to explore. Kristen truly fed us with all the easter eggs of past and potential couples. I'm so down for book 2. Thank you to Kristen and team for the arc

Tucker. Where to even start? Book boyfriend of the year?? He visits a diner he doesn't particularly like at the same time every week just so he can see and flirt with "D," the very pretty waitress that works there. Until, one day, he shows up and is ready to FINALLY ask her out, and... it isn't "D." It's someone else. And Tucker knows, he's missed his chance.

Flash forward a few years, and Darby is working on her vet school internship. She's lucky to have a placement near her family that comes with housing, but she's cautious. Her upbringing was... horrendous isn't a harsh enough word to describe it. And when she steps out of her car to see whose farm she'll be working on for a year? Relief like you wouldn't believe, but also nerves, because it's the handsome guy from the diner.

As these two navigate their present and their pasts, Tucker proves to be exactly the right man that Darby needs. I had NO IDEA what I was getting into with this story, but it was beautiful captured and written.

THE AUDIOBOOK: With multicast narration by Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor with Christian Fox, Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke and Connor Crais - and featuring Avery Caris and Savannah Thomas, this book via audio was EVERYTHING. I *highly* recommend reading this one via audio! I think I listened in one sitting. With the heavy topics and the lovely relationship that formed between the two main characters, I was absolutely consumed by this story!

What a treat Pretty Little Scars was! This small-town, forbidden, forced-proximity romance takes us back to Montana and introduces Tucker Hendrix and Darby Lexington—and I loved every minute of their story.

Darby is beginning a year-long veterinary internship on Tucker’s ranch, only to discover that her new boss is the mysterious man she used to flirt with at the diner years ago. Their attraction was already there, but now that they are living and working in such close proximity, the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore.

Darby carries both physical and emotional scars from a painful past, and my heart hurt for everything she had experienced. Tucker never looks at her like she is broken or someone who needs to be fixed. He is patient, gentle, protective, and completely accepting of every part of her. Watching Darby slowly realize that her scars do not make her less deserving of love was one of my favorite parts of the story.

Just when Darby begins imagining a future with Tucker on his beautiful Montana ranch, someone becomes determined to take that happiness away from her. The added suspense kept me invested and made me even more protective of Darby and Tucker’s relationship.

I also loved getting glimpses of the previous Blackwell characters and seeing them in action alongside Darby and Tucker. I finally know who everyone is in this universe! Kristen Proby has created a world where the characters truly feel like one big family. We have gotten to know them book by book, and they all fit together so naturally. The family dynamics are phenomenal, and I loved seeing how quickly Tucker’s family welcomed Darby into their lives.

I’m a dual reader, meaning I love reading the ebook while listening to the audiobook, and this audio was done so well. Sebastian York was perfect as Tucker, while Samantha Brentmoor brought so much emotion and vulnerability to Darby. They are both phenomenal narrators and made the story even more enjoyable.

Each Lexington sibling had it bad. There childhood was filled with anger, tears and pain. Their strengths were each other and their support was the Blackwell's.

Darby's backstory had me in tears but her strength and resilience was so just perfect. Her decision to take the much needed time away from the town that had bad memories and fulfil her passion to succeed in her career 🤌🏻

And her interactions with her HotShot!
Tucker, he is the owner of the Hendrix Ranch I. SilverSprings. Has the eldest sibling, he always is determined to make sure that every member in his family is safe and painfree. And will do everything he can to ensure they stay that way.

He is patient, quiet and very protective.

His patience led him to lose out on so many years with his Duchess.

The first book and most definitely one of my most anticipated books of 2026 and Kristen freaking delivered.

Firstly Darby's story and the emotions just kept on coming. Tuckers unshakeable love/friendship so beautiful. They just saw each other and that made this book a 100 times more beautiful.
I loved how they already knew each other but well, Tucker just had to be a man who liked to wait things out 😂🙈

The Wilds, Blackwell's and 90% of the Lexington's(😂♥️) have their HEA's and I'm so here for it. It's time for the Hendrix clan and it's off to an amazing start.

In order to get her veterinary license, Darby had to have one full year as an intern under her belt. She never expected to see a familiar face when she went to the ranch where Darby had to do this practice. Tucker Hendrix was the owner of that place, but he was also the man who was flirting with her a couple of years ago, when she worked at a dinner place. Darby had some deep scars to hide, physical and mental, but somehow Tucker was the one who gave her that sense of security and he wasn't afraid of her dark past or of everything that marked her deeply. Being around him only increased that pull between them and Darby felt for once safe and understood. But there was still someone hunting Darby and all that new found happiness and peace won't last forever and will be put in danger. Will Darby be able to come out safe from this threatening situation?

This book had such an emotional story and such a beautiful way of feeling loved and accepted. It was heartbreaking to find out all the horrors Darby had to endure and I appreciated her so much for her strength and determination. I liked that happy vibes that came with those little moments between Darby and Tucker, these two having a constant banter. You could feel how strong their connection was, even after all those years they've first met. It was so funny to see how Tucker fell so hard for Darby and how much he wanted to be close to her and to keep her safe. I need to point out that there were some sensitive subjects touched in this book, which might affect some of you. There were also a couple of sad moments which included animals and that was because of Darby's occupation as a veterinarian.

I was one again mesmerized by one of Kristen's books, this one being super emotional, but also inspiring. It was something from which you could learn a lot, that no matter how broken you think you are, there is someone out there who sees the beauty behind the damaged exterior. I really liked this story, getting so attached to these characters and being constantly curious about finding out more about them.

Samantha Brentmoor, Sebastian York and the whole entire cast of this book have made me feel so emotional while listening to this story. They did such an amazing job in giving these characters a voice and in making me love them so much. I was truly immersed in this story, not wanting to stop from listening to it, constantly being something that caught my attention. I loved so much this cast and how easy it was for me to fall in love with this story with their help.

Pretty Little Scars by Kristen Proby is the first book in her new Silver Springs series but has links to her other series, The Blackwells of Montana and The Wilds of Montana. This is a small town, forbidden, forced Proximity romance between Tucker Hendrix and Darby Lexington. She has been through a lot so the story does contain some dark and sensitive themes. A delightful tale about
finding the right person who is understanding and supportive, who helps you heal and provides a safe place so you can move forward and put the past behind you.

It is also a second chance because every Tuesday for the past year Tucker has driven over to Bitterroot Valley from his home in Silver Springs for lunch at Kay’s Diner just to see the waitress he has fallen for. He always takes his time and thinks things through so hasn’t picked up the courage to ask her out yet. He has also made one of his best friends Brooks Blackwell go with him while out on their Harleys. The day he goes to ask her out he’s told she’s quit and he has no idea where’s she gone or what her name was. To him she was ‘Duchess’ and she called him ‘Hotshot’.
We catch up with him five years later and he’s happily running the family’s ranch. We meet his best friend Zack, who is a famous actor and has come home as tired and needs a break. Tucker tells him that he has a vet intern arriving to stay in the guest cabin for a year and when she arrives he can’t believe his luck.

Darby is a trainee veterinarian with a horrific and traumatic past. She grew up in Bitterroot Valley
with her four siblings but their father was extremely abusive and terrorised them. She has to do one year of practical work then she’ll be licensed. She choose the Hendrix Ranch as no one will know her or who her father was so a fresh start but still near to family. She is looking forward to starting work for the local large animal vet and helping out on the ranch. On arrival she’s excited to see Hotshot who is even more handsome than she remembers. She’d love seeing him at the diner as he was so funny and kind, but then she finds out he’s the owner and her boss !!

Tucker agrees to keep their relationship professional but finds it hard not to flirt with her. He respects her not wanting them to cross the line when he’s her boss. He notices that she doesn’t like being touched and is skittish around him. Their friendship builds as they work together and slowly she lets her walls down. He is so sweet and instinctively knows how to help her.

Darby is surprised how comfortable she is around him and finds him easy to talk to. She has never ever had any feelings for a man before. We learn about her childhood, how her brother Holden raised the siblings and is now very protective of them. The Blackwells helped them and it turns out she is friends with Tuckers sisters. They both have issues they are dealing with and scars which no-one has ever seen.

When she has some problems at work and an incident triggers a panic attack, she feels she’s too broken for Tucker. This makes him determined to protect and care for her as she is the best thing to ever happen to him. He works hard at making her believe how much he loves her. Tucker is the oldest sibling and takes care of everyone, when there is some family drama he feels helpless and is very worried about his brother Xander and sister Harper. Absolutely loved how shocked Darby is when she realises Zack is his best friend.

If you have read the other series then you will enjoy catching up with the couples and there are some great teasers about future couples because Noah only seems to have eyes for Charlie and
Zack flirts with Indie even though there is a big age gap between them. Ivy fancies Xander which will be interesting as in the next book What About Us, she is assigned to personally help him recover from his NFL injury. When everything calms down, we get a very romantic ending and it was lovely how the two families join together. A good start to a new series.

★★★☆☆ — A Strong Couple, Great Chemistry, but Missing Some Emotional Logic

I always enjoy Kristen Proby romances, and this new series opener had so many elements I love about her writing. I’ve been looking forward to this series for a while, and I’m happy to see it centered around this family — exactly what I hoped for after her last series felt disconnected from her usual interconnected worlds.

I wasn’t sure who the first book would follow, but I’m glad it ended up being Tucker and Darby. I’ve been curious about Darby since her introduction, and Tucker has popped up enough in other books that I was excited to finally get his story too.

What Worked Beautifully:

• Their chemistry is instant and mutual, and once they reconnect, they don’t waste time.
• Respectful boundaries — Tucker is technically her boss, but Darby is an intern vet, working with another vet in town and only at the ranch for hands‑on experience. It felt mature and grounded.
• Honesty and communication — they’re refreshingly open with each other.
• Tucker’s steadiness — he’s vocal, reassuring, and emotionally present.
• Darby’s strength — choosing to become a vet despite her traumatic upbringing was powerful.
• The greenhouse — Tucker building her a whole greenhouse based on one passing comment was peak romance.
• No third‑act breakup — thank you. Truly.
• Series setup — the teasers for Xander & Ivy, Zack & Indie, and the mystery of who Easton ends up with were fun.


What Didn’t Work (and Pulled the Rating Down):

• The five‑years‑ago flashback — I wish the book had started there instead of skipping over the period when their feelings were fresh.
• Darby’s family being almost entirely absent — this was the biggest issue. We’ve been told repeatedly how close she is to her siblings and to Holden (her older brother/pseudo‑father), yet they barely appear. It contradicts everything we know about them.
• The Peter storyline — this felt unnecessary and emotionally inconsistent.• Darby never tells her family, which makes no sense given their closeness.
• Tucker not telling Holden — the man who basically raised her — felt wildly out of character for someone as protective as Tucker.
• The Kincaid farm injury — Darby doesn’t tell her siblings about how badly she was hurt, even though it’s clear Charlie knows something happened. We’re told they talk about it, but we never see that conversation. It’s a huge emotional gap.
• Unresolved moments — especially the scene where Darby first meets Tucker’s entire family, there’s a moment where he gets a strange look on his face like something is weighing on his mind that Darby clocks, and then… nothing. It’s never revisited. Why include it if it leads nowhere?
• Ava and Chad — absolutely not. Based on how Ava has been described in previous books, her saying yes to that proposal made no sense.
• Career follow‑through — we never find out what happens after Darby’s internship. Does she join Dr. Fisher? Open her own practice? It felt like a missing piece of her arc.

Final Thoughts:

Tucker and Darby together were wonderful — hot, sweet, emotionally aligned, and believable. Their relationship progression made sense, and their chemistry was strong. But the lack of Darby’s family presence, the emotional inconsistencies around her confiding in her family, and the unnecessary Peter storyline pulled the book down for me.

A solid, enjoyable read, but not without frustrations.

There was so much chemistry between Tucker and Darby since the moment they met in a diner five years ago. Tucker kept coming back once a week to flirt with Darby but she refused to give him her name, so he called her Duchess. When Tucker finally got up the courage to ask her out, Darby had quit and left without a word.

Five years later, Darby shows up at Tucker’s Ranch as a vet student. All their chemistry flared back to life and as much as Darby wants Tucker, being his employee makes him off limits, even when all she wants to do is strip herself bare and throw herself at him. Tucker has spent the last five year wondering where his Duchess disappeared to and is pleasantly shocked when she shows up on his ranch. He can tell Darby has secrets but he wants to be there for her, keep her safe and protected.

From the moment Tucker met Darby, he was gone for her. Their instant connection and the way Darby feels at home and safe with Tucker is emotional and you can feel the depth of Tucker’s connection with Darby. We got a glimpse of Darby and her family’s traumatic past in previous books series and the way she was able to heal from the trauma and how the storyline was written was perfect. There is a lot of emotional depth, growth and connection in the story and with each of the characters. Tucker’s family brings Darby into the fold and gives her the family she needed.

The audiobook is narrated by Sebatian York and Samantha Brentmoor and as always, their voices bring depth, emotion and vulnerability to the characters. Samantha is phenomenal at making us feel Darby’s experiences and feelings and Sebatian conveys Tucker’s calmness and the connection he feels to Darby.

If you are looking for a new series to start that will have you hooked from the get-go, with lots of banter, emotional moments and twists and turns that will keep you guessing, this is the perfect book for you! I received an advanced copy of this book and am leaving an honest review as a show of my appreciation.

GAH, I’ve said it a million times before but Kristen can do no wrong!!! I’ve been DYING for Darby’s story since the very first book of the Blackwells series, and we finally got her in the first book of a brand new series!!!

Darby, and her siblings, had been through so much trauma as children, and each of them were left with physical and/or mental scars because of their father but finally getting to know the full extent of Darby’s torture was honestly heartbreaking. She’s so freaking strong though, despite everything, she kicks ass (quite literally at one point 🥹) and deserved all the love in the world.

Tucker, I literally couldn’t see anyone else for Darby, he was the biggest green flag of a man, he was protective and possessive of her but never wanted to make her feel like she was trapped, he loved her, cherished her, and just wanted the best for her. There was NOTHING that man wouldn’t have done for her and I just love him so much.

This was for sure a hard read, so many emotions and feelings were felt, and many tears were cried but it was perfect. We also got to see a lot of the Blackwells too, which was just perfect honestly. What a beautiful start to the new Silver Springs series.

I absolutely cannot wait to see what Kristen is bringing us for book 2, but that epilogue and sneak peak had me SAT and waiting impatiently for September🤭

Darby & Tucker met at a diner where she worked. But as soon as he got the courage to ask her out, she was gone. Darby had a very terrible childhood and she still carries so much of it with her. It definitely affects her relationships.

When she gets a veterinarian internship on Tucker's ranch, he knows this is his chance. It most definitely wasn't easy. Darby's walls are up high. But Tucker is nothing if not understanding, supportive, and protective. He never tries to fix her and always makes her feel safe. Those professional boundaries don't last long. This most definitely was a healing journey for Darby. Tucker gives her the safe space to be able to do that. I'm telling you.. this man is a walking green flag.

This was a duet narration by Sebastian York & Samantha Brentmoor. We also have a full cast of Christian Fox, Stella Hunter, Connor Crais, Avery Caris, Savannah Thomas and Jason Clarke. Sebastian and Samantha ... I mean, do I even have to say anything?! This book is deeply emotional in parts and these two made me made me feel every bit of it. They were absolutely fantastic.

Kristen Proby has taken us back to Montana with the first book in her new Silver Springs series.
This story got me in all the feels, the small town, the forbidden, the obsession (for him), suspense, all of it!

Tucker missed his first chance with “D” but made the most of his second chance. As luck would have it, she is the new vet intern on Tuckers ranch. These two both had the chemistry, add in forced proximity, the attraction is hard to miss.

Darby’s past is not pretty. I love how Tucker sees her, and the version of her she is now, but her past is part of her, and he is patient. Just when things are moving forward, seems someone does not want them together. The suspense brings yet another layer to the story.

This story also gives us cameos of previous friends from the Blackwell series. I love this large found family and how they feel like our family. I recommend this new series, and I cannot wait for more.

This was such a strong start to a new series and honestly one of those audiobooks I couldn’t stop listening to. The romance was sweet, spicy, tender, and incredibly healing, and I absolutely adored Tucker and Darby together. Tucker’s patience, devotion, and years of quiet pining made him impossible not to love, and I appreciated how Darby’s past trauma was handled while still allowing her to be strong, capable, and surprisingly well adjusted. Add in a dash of suspense and a Montana ranch setting, and this had everything I wanted.

The audiobook experience is next level thanks to Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York, plus appearances from Christian Fox, Connor Crais, Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke, Avery Caris, and Savannah Thomas. The full cast brings so much life to the story and makes it feel immersive from start to finish. I flew through this in a day and immediately wanted the rest of the series.

I absolutely love Kristen Proby’s books. She’s quickly become a one-click author of mine and Pretty Little Scars did not disappoint!

This might be book one in a new series, but it is set in a very familiar Proby “world” where you get a glimpse of favorite characters from other series set in her Montana-based series.

The way Proby touches on some tough subjects, but does so in a way that has your heartstrings pulling and then exploding with happiness when the character gets their happily ever after! The glimpse at other characters in this series has me excited for the books that are yet to come!

An absolute epically cast narration! Once I started listening, there was no stopping. I was finding every spare minute I could to listen. They brought every emotion to life and I was totally hooked.

I am already so invested in this new series and world by this author, and the glimpses of characters from other series made it even better. The protective MMC paired with “he falls first” was everything in this story. While there are some tough subjects covered in Darby and Tucker’s story, it was handled beautifully and I couldn’t help but cheer for their happily ever after.

What a dilemma… I finished this book this afternoon and I’m already drawing a blank.

I can say it was nice to be back in. I think it’s the Lexington family. I think the FMC was the missing Lexington girl the last single sibling in that family with the abusive father.

I will say this since we are on the topic of the FMC while I loved the vet stuff. I just couldn’t get past the lack of mental health weapon representation in this book. I don’t know what age she was supposed to be at, but she read no older than 20 and there was no growth nor any little inkling of her, trying to work past her still very broken state which makes her just completely inept to be in any sort of stable adult relationship. Which is par with the one thing I have to say about the MMC the parts where he was worried about her as a father would worry about a daughter being out all night and not eating.

However, I would say I loved being back in this universe, and I am looking forward to his family getting books. I loved them as secondary characters both his brother, the cop, his brother, the hockey player and his best friend the actor. And I loved how she tied the Blackwells, the Lexington‘s and the first family whose name I cannot remember.

First of all, thank you, Kristen Proby, for an arc of this amazing book! I was completely engrossed from the very first page. This book has everything. Protective MMC, found family, he fell first, “who did this to you”… I’m obsessed. I’d give this one ten stars if I could.

I loved Tucker and Darby together - they have this connection that was impossible to ignore. Tucker was protective and supportive and I loved him so much as the MMC. And maybe someone was pining for 5 years…. 👀

The audio was so good - I mean look at the cast!

The emotional moments really shine in the audio - Samantha and Sebastian really brought Darby and Tucker to life. We really get Darby’s strength and resilience - she had been through so much, but still has a heart of gold. Tucker also had a past and we see them both start to break down walls.

No. Just, no. When a character is written to have severe trauma, instant love is very tough to make work. And this just didn't work. The fmc went very quickly from being a no touch person and refusing a handshake to allowing the mmc to touch her anywhere and everywhere. The mmc and fmc lacked chemistry and halfway through the book I just wanted it to end. I found myself much more interested in the side characters.
