Having earned his share of unwanted attention in the past, Jax Sheppard has learned some hard lessons: 1. Playing dodgeball with “Normals” is a surefire way to land you in detention. 2. Don’t drop a clown on your best friend if you want to keep him as your best friend. Now Jax prefers to blend in and go unnoticed—not an easy task for a scrawny thirteen-year-old with a chew ...more

This was an amazing fantasy/sci-fi book! One the reader begins reading, it is almost impossible to put down! There is steady humor and action/adventure. The reader is held in suspense until the very end!
The plot is easily understood and followed. There is a perfect balance of description and dialogue. Many of the characters are very endearing, yet others are fiercely annoying. There are easily visualized background scenes. This is a continuing saga of Good vs. evil. On each side of the spectrum

Mehreen Ahmed's review

This very adventurous and energetic book is riddled with eye-popping expressions. Rules are meant to be broken, the sun had no stinking business rising up so early, white gunk oozing out of puffed pastry are somewhat unconventional but bold thoughts I found exhilarating and original.

As a an engaging read, this youthful book is for readers of all ages, which would hold readers breathless attention until the very end. Almost a memoir, strong focus has been assigned to extend

When I agreed to read this book, I scheduled myself to read it about ten days after I received it. I downloaded it and decided to take a quick peek at it -- and ended up reading it straight through! That's how Jax Sheppard and the Seven Mirrors rolls. In it, author Sharon Warchol gives readers just enough background and introduction to get a feel for our protagonist and his life, but then she immerses readers right into the story. Jax Sheppard and the Seven Mirrors Book One by Sharon Warchol is an excellent mid-grade/pre-teens story that will entertain all the kids that like magic and low-key kids who become heroes.
It is a fast paced and age appropriate story that will resonate with kids between eight and fourteen. The characters are real with real flaws and strength. It is a clean read that talks about trust, family, friends and the right to choose to be better. A good paced plot is to be found between the pages of this

Fantasy stories featuring a group of plucky teens, especially a boy with parent issues and unusual abilities, abound. Add this to the pot. Jax feels responsible for the death of his little brother. He also has some unique physical abilities. Suddenly Jax finds himself, and his best "normal" friend, caught up in fantasy intrigue as they become involved in a mission to find the parts of a magical mirror in order to defeat an evil magic-wielder. This is a thick book--321 pages long, but it holds to ...more

Jax is a teenage boy who has always known he was different from other kids, but he didn't realize just how different he really was. Jax has a very loyal friend who has helped him through many difficult times and Andie joins Jax on a journey without realizing what she has done. On the journey they face challenges and Jax discovers some new and exciting abilities are developing.

This story is well written, and flows well from one scene to the next. The characters are well developed and are easy to

2/18/15 My 12 year old son is half way finished with this wonderful book. Tonight he stated "the author has a very active imagination" and talked about how great the book is likening the author to one of his favorite authors Rick Riordan! He advised that if I could send a note to the author, he would want you to know that he will be anxiously awaiting your next book!!

More review when the book has been completed by my son and likely myself.

just got this book from a first reads giveaway. wasn't too sure about it, just because the title was a little odd. the cover however is gorgeous.
The writing starts off a little odd. I don't know how to describe it...choppy? Disjointed? could just be a style of writing that im not used to. Will see how it progresses! Great story so far though very imaginative.

The book is fantastic! As a school librarian, I highly recommend this book for boys and girls who enjoy fantasy. It is an amazing story that keeps the reader on the edge of his/her seat, holding on through every plot twist and unexpected turn, and laughing and gasping all the way to the unbelievable ending. Book two...please!!!
