Everyone warned me away from Ghost, but I saw something in him that they didn't. Or so I thought. When I surprise him at the Serpents of Chaos Clubhouse, the fairy tale I'd created in my head disappears in front of my eyes. I learn the hard way that the club always comes first. But when his past collides with his present, I'm the one caught in the crossfire.
Ghost is the most feared, unhinged man in the MC.
And I'm the one that has him on his knees.
GHOST is book five in my sexy new biker romance series, Serpents of Chaos. It can be read as a standalone. Intended for 18+ audiences only.
Didn’t make it further than the sample. Gross H coupled with a virgin h who inexplicably is attracted to him after knowing he offered to sleep with her friend, then proceeded to publicly fuck her friend’s neighbor AND then while h was at his clubhouse, watching, he felt up a club girls naked tits and received a bj from another. I’d say this is the bottom of the barrel as far as romance goes.
Darkness meets light in this book. No matter how much Ghost tried to fight his attraction to Xanthe, he just couldn’t get her out of his head. She had been around the club since she was friends with a couple of the old ladies to other members for the Serpents of Chaos MC. Once Ghost finally gives in, their relationship evolves into many steamy soul stealing moments.
This book has earned every one of the five stars that I gave it. It drew me in from the start and didn’t let go until the very last page was turned. I highly recommend this awesome MC romance and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
I was really excited for Ghost's story and was a bit disappointed it was only 4⭐s for me. I know these books are shorter, quick reads. But it still felt really rushed in the beginning. The relationship development was just not fleshed out like I was hoping. Still a good read. I'm loving this series overall and can't wait for the next 1
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC REVIEW Ghost absolutely stole my heart. From the very beginning, we're shown a painful memory from Ghost's past that clearly shaped the man he became and the path he chose in life. Knowing that history made it impossible not to understand why he keeps everyone at arm's length, even when he desperately wants more. I've been waiting for Ghost's story since meeting Xanthe in an earlier book, and it did not disappoint. Watching him struggle with his feelings for her was both heartbreaking and frustrating. He feels something for her almost immediately, but instead of embracing it, he retreats into himself and makes choices that hurt both Xanthe and himself. Xanthe was an amazing heroine. She's sweet, caring, and works as a teacher, but she's far from a pushover. She has her own secrets, plenty of fire, and refuses to tolerate Ghost's nonsense. I loved that she could stand toe-to-toe with a man everyone else fears. And Ghost? Completely obsessed. The man is gone for her. The way he adores, protects, worships, and falls for Xanthe had me swooning the entire book. Beneath all the darkness, he's fiercely loyal and surprisingly tender when it comes to his Sunshine. The book had everything I love in a dark romance: emotional angst, humour, club drama, suspense, possessive biker energy, strong chemistry, and plenty of steamy moments. I also loved seeing the club family dynamic and how the members reacted to watching Ghost fall in love. It's not every day a ruthless man finds his person. The ending left me smiling, and that epilogue? Now I'm desperate for Bones' book. I need it immediately. If you love dark motorcycle club romance with a tortured hero, a strong heroine, found family, suspense, and a love story that softens even the hardest man, I highly recommend Ghost's story
I am utterly obsessed with Ghost and Xanthe. From chapter one, Ghost’s tragic backstory explains exactly why he keeps his walls so high. His emotional tug-of-war with Xanthe is beautifully frustrating—he falls hard but instantly pushes her away out of fear.
Xanthe is Ghost’s perfect counterpart: a sweet teacher with a fiery spine who refuses to tolerate his self-sabotage. Watching a man feared by everyone become completely brought to his knees by his "Sunshine" was pure perfection.
I love this MC series and cannot wait for more from Chantal!
If you love: 🏍️ found family 🏍️ touch her and d!e 🏍️ great banter 🏍️ grumpy vs sunshine 🏍️ biker club
I've been wanting more of Ghost since getting glimpses of him in the other books. He's mysterious, a bit of a loner but that doesn't stop one from wanting more. Especially if that someone is Xanthe. She definitely becomes the sugar to his spice.
Xanthe is attracted to Ghost but doesn't know how to approach him, the problem is that Ghost has noticed her- and he wants her for himself. But he's afraid to let her know the real him at first because his tastes are a little on the darker side and he doesn't want to be the one to corrupt her- but he doesn't want her to have anyone else but him. We get the backstory of why Ghost is the way he is but that doesn't mean that his sunshine can't come in and shine some light in his darker world.
I could not get enough of these two and I absolutely devoured the book. I also loved the fact that we got more of the other men in the Serpents of Chaos MC and all of their shenanigans. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this world!
I'm disappointed at the same time. For a tortured killer with touch issues Ghost is just too normal. He changes for her suddenly just knowing how? The explanation for leaving his kinks behind is too weak. The whole thing felt rushed, too short, lacked depth and din't explore characters enough. Reading it felt like skimming through the story.
🖤✨ There’s something captivating about the contrast between darkness and hope in Ghost and Xanthe’s story. From the moment Ghost started noticing her, it was obvious she had gotten under his skin in a way no one else ever had. No matter how hard he tried to ignore it, Xanthe was constantly on his mind, and watching him battle those emotions made this book impossible to put down.
Ghost completely won me over. Early on, we get a glimpse into a heartbreaking chapter of his past, and it sheds so much light on why he became the guarded, distant man everyone knows. Understanding what he endured made his fears, walls, and self-destructive choices feel incredibly real.
Ever since meeting Xanthe in a previous book, I couldn't wait to see her story unfold, and it exceeded my expectations. She's kind-hearted and devoted to her students, but don't mistake that for weakness. Beneath her gentle nature is a strong, determined woman who refuses to let Ghost push her around. She challenges him, calls him out when needed, and proves she can handle even the most intimidating biker in the club. 🔥
And Ghost? This man never stood a chance. 😍 Watching him slowly unravel because of his feelings for Xanthe was both frustrating and addictive. The deeper he fell, the more protective, devoted, and completely consumed he became. Seeing this feared, hardened man transform whenever she was involved was one of my favorite parts of the entire book.
The story delivers everything I want from a motorcycle club romance: emotional tension, laugh-out-loud moments, family bonds, danger, drama, intense chemistry, and plenty of heat. 🏍️❤️ I especially loved the interactions within the Serpents of Chaos MC and how entertaining it was watching the club witness Ghost's downfall into love.
What really stood out was the balance between the darker elements and the heartfelt romance. The suspense kept me hooked, the emotions hit hard, and the connection between Ghost and Xanthe felt genuine every step of the way.
By the time I reached the final pages, I had a huge smile on my face. 😊 And that epilogue? Now I'm counting down the days until Bones gets his turn because I need that story immediately!
If you're a fan of dark MC romances featuring a wounded hero, a fearless heroine, found-family vibes, suspense, passion, and a romance powerful enough to melt even the coldest heart, Ghost and Xanthe's journey is one you won't want to miss. 🖤🏍️✨
Ghost really went from background chaos to main character damage and I loved every second of it.😍🔥
In the last four books of the Serpents of Chaos series, Ghost has always been the shadowy side character I only somewhat paid attention to (and mildly side-eyed to be honest 😂)… until this book. I loved his character, his backstory and getting insight into the trauma and chaos that is Ghost. (Somewhere between “oh wow” and “poor baby,” I became fully invested and 100% defending his 'stalker tendencies' 👀😂).
I fell head over heels for his story and his romance with Xanthe, officially making this my favorite book in the series so far.
Their good girl, bad boy dynamic was fun, often really funny, but still layered with tender moments.
Xanthe is such a lovable character and I really enjoyed seeing her fiery spirit peek through her good girl persona.
As usual, the Serpents of Chaos bring their signature chaos and I live for the banter between the club brothers. It’s snarky, sharp, and consistently laugh-out-loud funny. The found family vibes are strong, and one of my favorite things about this series is watching these bikers fall for love like dominoes.
In true Chantal Fernando style, the story is packed with drama, chaos, steam, and an all-around swoon-worthy romance. I devoured it in a few hours.
Well, we finally get to learn the whole story, and it’s an explosive one. In book four, we got glimpses of Ghost and Xanthe’s story and knew that it was going to be a rollercoaster, but I didn’t think I would enjoy it quite this much. Chantal Fernando is one of those authors I stumbled across years ago and I have loved her MC stories and really everything I’ve read by her ever since, but this new series is certainly heading in interesting directions. Between one-night stands, childhood reunions, babies and long-lost loves, this MC just keeps getting more and more interesting. I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy Ghost’s story because honestly, he seems so dark and intense in previous novels, but the more we learned about the past that created that darkness the more I came to understand and love him—even when he was way overboard with his protectiveness of Xanthe. Watching him find the courage to bear his heart and allow her to see that darkness was kind of painful, but once he began to understand that she wouldn’t run for the hills at every little spook, he started to trust her enough to offer his love. Xanthe was a wonderful dichotomy of sweet and spicy, hiding her own mysterious side from her friends and only letting down her hair (so to speak) in the arms of the man she trusted with her secrets. The moments when they both made mistakes, causing miscommunications and separations, were hard to take, but I was ever hopeful their love and passion would allow them to overcome their own stupidity. I was thrilled they found a way to build their bridges and come together to build their lives. I am looking forward to seeing them in future stories as more of Ghost’s brothers fall to cupid and lose their hearts and souls, probably most unexpectedly, to women that will challenge and question them at every turn to make them earn their way into their hearts.
It’s always a pleasure to reunite with Chantal Fernando’s bikers, and I wouldn’t have missed this volume dedicated to Ghost, the most reserved—and perhaps one of the most dangerous—bikers in this MC... Make no mistake, it’s another great read—a classic romance set in this brutal, raw world where Xanthe, the sweet schoolteacher, seems like an anomaly, yet she finds her place alongside the brooding Ghost, from whom she manages to bring out the best... It’s effective and addictive, with no major surprises, but you’ll shiver, feel the thrill, and smile all the way through—and that’s all I ask for ;)
I've been waiting for Ghost to get his book as his character has always intrigued me along with Angel, but to be honest I love all the Brothers.
As the most feared member of The Serpents Of Chaos, Ghost has always been the most psychotic brother with the least morals. He will do anything for the club and give zero fxxks doing it.
I knew Ghost had a secret thing for Xanthe from previous books but he never made a move. I was curious how long he could hold out and exactly what he would do to claim her.
Ghost has always been in the background now it's his time to shine and show how crazy he is for the teacher and lets just say his stalker tendencies are in full swing. I loved the chemistry, the banter, the danger and the honesty between them.
Ghost has a lot of history and baggage that explains the way he is, he broke my heart at times. He's deeply flawed and broken on the inside but Xanthe accepts him for who he is and I loved her for that.
Wow! I loved it - absolutely loved reading Ghost and Xanthe story. Ghost is unapologetically dark, fierce, a silent loner—a mystery to his own brothers. They believe him to be unstable and unpredictable. Therefore, he is feared.
If you are obsessed with the Serpents of Chaos MC series, Ghost's story will completely wreck you in the best way possible. Chantal Fernando gives us the ultimate unyielding brotherhood dynamic, fierce territory defense, and a deeply possessive alpha hero who is an absolute wild card to everyone—except his woman. Watching the club's most feared and unpredictable loner get brought completely to his knees by his girl is unmatched. The intense chemistry between Xanthe and Ghost—along with the danger from his past—kept me turning pages. Xanthe accepts Ghost for exactly who he is, dark pieces and all, and I loved her for that.
An absolute must-read for anyone who loves high-stakes MC romance and unhinged protectors!
Thank you to the author for the review copy. This is my honest review.
Oh my gosh, Ghost has always been such an anomaly, I wasn’t expecting to actually like him, yet here I am rooting for him to get his happy ever after. He was always the silent deadly one in the MC, until Xanthe, and now I think he might be my favourite Serpent. I loved that Zanthe wrote romance (some MC too), she is a strong character who knows what she wants, she’s also realistic, which I liked, she did try her best to avoid him following a few unfortunate incidents. Blooming Daisy strikes again!! A lovely story, of course there’s plenty of violence in and amongst the sexy time, but I’ve got to say, the romance was a surprise, there was lots of it. It’s always great catching up with all the Serpents of Chaos, but know that this book can also be read as a standalone. That said I can’t wait for the next instalment, I’m thinking (and hoping), Bones gets centre stage. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Not gonna lie, I was a little bit disappointed with this book. I had hoped for something with more emotional depth. This was good, but it lacked that special something to make it great. I think it also had something to do with the heroine, Xanthe, because other than happy and jealous, she had no other emotions. Still, the book was entertaining, and Ghost had a lot of past baggage and serious emotions. Heat is explicit. Virgin heroine. Knife play (mild) Bechdel test- failed Safety? YMMV. He got his lollipop licked while he and Xanthe were in the flirty stage. Technically, they weren’t together, but it still made her jealous. He kept saying that since the lollipop never reached the center, it didn’t count. Sometimes, people are as logical as a fish in a top hat. Other triggers include safe stalking, kidnapping, violence, language. Tropes include safe stalking, grumpy x sunshine, Instalove, broken hero, hitman baby one more time.

Ghost is the perfect mesh of sweet and scary. Xanthe is sweet, smart, sassy, and full of heart, while Ghost may be intimidating, but he absolutely makes you swoon when his softer side breaks through.
His romance isn’t flashy or over the top—it’s the gentle care and quiet devotion he shows his woman that leaves everyone around him completely flabbergasted.
Their journey is filled with mistakes, tension, chasing, and grovelling until they finally meet at a place built on trust. Along the way, the club does exactly what the club does best—protect their loved ones and destroy anything that stands in their way.
The banter, loyalty, trust, and deep bonds within the club make this story even more addictive, while the danger never truly stands a chance once Ghost decides he’s playing for keeps.
A big thank you to Chantal for this Arc! Ghost was portrayed as this unhinged guy in the other books, noone could mess with, but we couldn’t get a proper picture of him to be honest! Badass alrigt! I need to say i loved this book the most! The story behind him and what he is been through! What people can endure through a life time is scary! But also the change in him and the reveal of the self he had been hiding all this time is amazing! What happiness and sunshine does to someone! People can really be beautiful when in love and happy! As for Sunshine, it turns out she was the perfect fit for him and she allowed him to be his true self with her! Accepted at last! She was a good match for him after all and not just the good girl that he thought! Chantal really did a good job on this book and i’m thankful! On my rereading list!!

I was really hesitant to read Ghost’s book because I honestly hadn’t liked him much in the previous books. I was convinced I wouldn’t enjoy his story at all, but gosh, was I wrong. I absolutely loved this book. Getting to learn about Ghost’s past and understand why he is the way he is completely changed my perspective on him. Seeing him grow into such an amazing man made this story even more emotional and rewarding. He turned out to be absolutely perfect for Xanthe, and together they were amazing. By the end of the book, Ghost became the kind of man we all wish we could have in our lives, loyal, protective, loving, and deeply understanding. This book completely surprised me in the best possible way, and it ended up becoming one of my favourites in the series. "Thank you to the author for the review copy. This is my honest review.'
This was one of my most anticipated MMC’s of this series! From introduction in book 1, I knew Ghost was going to be unhinged (in the best way), stalkerish and possessive… But i did not predict the level of Sass from Xanthe!
These two really were a match made in heaven. She balances the storm while still being an alpha in her own right.
This story did not disappoint and lived up to the hype in my mind!
Favorite moments had to be a sunshine tattoo, the jaw drop looks from the brothers when Ghost smiled, and Xanthe camera reveal.
I really love how Xanthe develops a special bond with all the brothers in her own special way.
GHOST is book five in my sexy new biker romance series, Serpents of Chaos. It can be read as a standalone. Intended for 18+ audiences only.
Book 1: War Book 2: Haze Book 3: Lore Book 4: Skull
Tropes:
Virgin FMC Grumpy/ Sunshine Instalove OW Drama OTT Hero Small Town Romance Biker Romance Found Family
This book was very insta lovey and I like insta lovey books when they’re done right. This one was.
Ghost has always been his namesake, hidden behind the others but more deadly and powerful than ever. I enjoyed getting to know more about Ghost but i felt like we could’ve had more backstory with him going to prison and his father.
Xanthe, Ghosts ray of sunshine in his dark world. I really liked her but again I felt like we could’ve had more backstory or more involvement with what she’s like in work or even her as an author?!?!
I liked how Ghost fell for Xanthe straight away because she was the light dimming his darkness. I liked their chemistry and I’m a sucker for a good girl x bad boy trope and that’s exactly what this is. I hope that they never change and I liked how Xanthe got on so well with the brothers.
This is book five in the series and it is so entertaining. There is humor amongst the violence. Yes, this story would be considered dark to some but Ghost, our lead male, was just so good as a character. He had not the best childhood and both his parents checked out on him. That part was devastating. Ghost’s father was the worst.
Once Ghost saw the woman for him walk into the clubhouse, he knew that he had to change and be worthy for her, Xanthe. The lead female character was awesome. Xanthe was strong and knew she deserved the best for herself. Lore was the breakout character for me in this book. Lore and another Mac brother provided the necessary light-heartedness to balance out the story. I enjoyed Xanthe and Ghost’s story. They get their happy ending. Read On!
Xanthe is a great character who has a few flaws. She’s looking for her happily ever after with someone who doesn’t appear to be fully available. That’s Ghost. The night she meets him he uses a different lady…. But she still pines over him so I wasn’t really sure I would be able to fully enjoy these two. BUT… Ghost redeems himself. Once you learn a little more about his background you begin to understand him more and why he is the way he is. He’s for sure a flawed character though - don’t be looking for Prince Charming with this one - just saying!
I feel these two are truly the definition of opposites attracting. Low drama with this one, but it was still a fun read and good addition to this series. I’m looking forward to the next story in this series now!
We have had a glimpse of Ghost in the previous stories in this series, and he also helped out Chance of the Royal Bastards MC in Wild Chance.
He has secretly lusted after Xanthe but is afraid to show his true colors. And Xanthe is very reserved and quiet. They dance around each other for a while, but unfortunately Xanthe sees Ghost in a compromising position, and he is unable to explain because it is "club business".
I felt this was more of a love story even though it had the MC elements throughout. I really enjoyed the push/pull of their burgeoning relationship and how they were able to work through the misunderstandings. And who would have thought that Ghost was such a softly after all -- all it took was meeting the right woman.
Thank you to the author for giving me a copy to read early.
Oh now we love a really dark personality in a jealous and possessive main male character paired with a sweet female lead who has hidden depths. Ghost thinks he's irrevocably dark and damaged. Xanthe sees something in him others don't. Both are really engaging characters to read especially as we see the different sides of each be revealed as the book goes on. The plot is really engaging and interesting. Loved every book in this series so far and it feels like we waited for the story of these characters from that very first book. It didn't disappoint and was very worth the wait. Really recommend the whole series and this book.
The book stars Ghost, an intimidating and enigmatic biker, and Xanthe, a kindhearted, intelligent, and innocent school teacher. The contrast between their personalities perfectly embodies the "opposites attract" trope, and Chantal skillfully brings their chemistry to life throughout the story. The novel is filled with just the right amount of witty banter, palpable tension, and heartfelt moments of redemption, keeping readers thoroughly engaged. With each installment, this series continues to surpass expectations, offering richer character development and even more compelling storytelling.
Thank you to the author for the review copy. This is my honest review.
This book definitely deserves a chef's kiss. Ghost was waiting for his story to be told, and Elizabeth Knox did not disappoint. Ghost is the most feared in the club and puts the club first, but he has a thing for Xanthe and never made a move. Xanthe is strong and she doesn't make it easy for Ghost to earn her love. He is flawed and he a troubling history. Xanthe sees all that and she has enough love to accept him the way he is. They had made chemistry and I enjoyed their banter with each other. I couldn't put this book down and I didn't want it to end. The story was entertaining, very well written, and Ghost and Xanthe have become one of my favorite couples.
This is probably the only one in the series where I actually believe the man loves the woman. The mess ups he made weren’t as bad as some of the others, and he did it at the direction of the club and then you did believe he would never mess up again. Unlike Laura and Hayes and some of the others, he wasn’t quite as prolific in his conquest so you actually believe it’s possible for him to be a one woman man. The others really just aren’t believable and aren’t likable at all but at least with ghost I think he’ll be loyal to her so for that reason alone, it’s a four star book
