This book made me want to run out and buy some polka dot pants STAT. Sister nut wants to sing and dance, but the entire nut family is busy running around until....enter stage left Grandma Nut, who has plenty of time to disco with sister nut. I loved this book because not only did it allow me to use a disco ball AND a bubble machine in storytime, but, it has an amazing dance to do with kids and even a handy dandy instruction book in the back. This felt... lazy. It was essentially Pete the Cat, but with dancing walnuts. It was cute, but forgettable.
We hit the jackpot, and hosted Eric Litwin for this "book birthday." His performance was engaging and interactive and the kids (grades JK-1) absolutely loved this book.

This is a fun book. Eric Litwin sure knows how to incorporate singing and dancing in his books! As with the original Pete the Cat books, this book is better with the accompanying mp3, which features Eric reading the story and the super-fun, polka dot pants song.

I thought the rhythm of this book sounded familiar, and then I came to Goodreads and put Litwin together with Pete the Cat. THAT'S why I felt I already knew this book! (Maybe if I'd listened to the song, I would have enjoyed it more...)
Anyway, it's a really dumb but infectious song about dancing in your polka-dot pants. It's still stuck in my head, and I read the book over an hour ago.

Admittedly, I felt a little bummed when Hazel's family completely ignored her attempts at gaining their attention. I know families are often busy, but I would've rather the family joined Hazel from the start to show their support. Everything ends well, and I love the incorporation of song and dance into the book with a free song download for kids. It's a great way to have them interact with the book.

We LOVE Pete the Cat and are obsessed with The Nuts: Bedtime at the Nut House so when I saw there was a new one out in the beloved Nuts Series, I ordered it right away. Definitely did not disappoint. Another fun one to dance the wiggles out with at bedtime! Especially love the story here with Grandma Nut saving the day. ;-)

If you love the lyrical interactive text of Pete the Cat, you will enjoy The Nuts: Sing and Dance in your polka dot pants by Eric Litwin! Hazel nut just wants to sing and dance, does her family make time, not a chance! This book had my goof nuts joining in with rhymes, dancing, and giggling away.

The crazy thing about this book (and I am not talking about anthropomorphic nuts) is that the text gets stuck in your head: "Polka dot pants! Polka dot pants! Sing and dance in your polka dot pants!"

Hazel Nut just wants to sing and dance in her polka dot pants, but her family is ignoring her, until Grandma comes and saves the day. While the acorn thing threw me off at first, the rhythm and song was super catchy and there are so many things you could do with this book in a storytime.
Super cute. Has a fun song to go with it (free download!) about a little nut girl and her nut family and how everyone is too busy to dance with her except for one special person. Who couldn't enjoy a book about dancing in polka dot pants?!

Eric Litwin is the king of writing great books that have a chorus that will hook the kids in the story time audience. In this book, Hazel Nut is just looking for a family member who will sing and dance with her in her polka dot pants. Grandma Nut comes to the rescue.
Oh my word! This is the BEST kid's book. First off, we love Eric Litwin at our house. His ability to put words together with a fun rhythm is amazing! This book, however, is just awesome! My almost 4 year old goes around singing about polka dot pants...and so does Momma! :) We love this book!

This book will have you going nuts about polka-dot pants! While I enjoyed the idea of this book, and the rhythmic flow to the words, I feel like at certain parts it dragged on a little too long. It was a fun read, but I don't have any plans to read it again soon.

As with the first Nut Family book, I enjoy the story that much more when you play the music along with the story. It begs to have some rhythm as you rock the dance moves :)

Kids will like the rhythmic nature of it...even though it feels like Pete the Cat...without Pete.
I'm so happy that Litwin is still doing his thing, even though he and Pete have parted ways. This one will be a favorite with the pre-schoolers.
