Another playful and winning story by the author of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes!

Hazel Nut wants her family to sing and dance along with her, but they are just too busy! Who can she call? Why... her super-hip, disco-dancing Grandma Nut! In the second book of the Nuts series, Eric Litwin's playful call-and-response rhymes and Scott Magoon's hilarious illustrations in

This book made me want to run out and buy some polka dot pants STAT. Sister nut wants to sing and dance, but the entire nut family is busy running around until....enter stage left Grandma Nut, who has plenty of time to disco with sister nut. I loved this book because not only did it allow me to use a disco ball AND a bubble machine in storytime, but, it has an amazing dance to do with kids and even a handy dandy instruction book in the back. Is it weird to have a story about acorns? Sure, but, i ...more

This felt... lazy. It was essentially Pete the Cat, but with dancing walnuts. It was cute, but forgettable.

The Nuts: Sing and Dance in Your Polka-Dot Pants:
-Hazel loves to dance, especially in her Polka-Dot pants. She tries to get her whole family to sing and dance along with her but nobody would. When its time for the school dance everyone has changed their mind once they see how much fun it is to dance with friends and family. Soon everyone is dancing away and having a ball! The Nuts: Sing and Dance in Your Polka-Dot Pants is perfect for children who need help getting out of their shell but also th

Hazel Nut wants to sing and dance with her family. As her family is not involved in her moves, she calls her grandmother, and every family member join dancing and singing.
Children would love to put on polka dot pants, singing and dancing, as the protagonist character does in this picture book children can relate. The song could be downloaded via website, and the music video is also available via YouTube one good quality is the access for children/families. If the music was singing by a girl, i

This is a fun book. Eric Litwin sure knows how to incorporate singing and dancing in his books! As with the original Pete the Cat books, this book is better with the accompanying mp3, which features Eric reading the story and the super-fun, polka dot pants song.
I give this book 3- 3 1/2 stars. The Nut family is too preoccupied to notice sister nut singing her polka dot pants song. Dad's head is in a book, mom's doing laundry, etc. Finally, the sister calls grandma Nut and she can't be ignored a

I thought the rhythm of this book sounded familiar, and then I came to Goodreads and put Litwin together with Pete the Cat. THAT'S why I felt I already knew this book! (Maybe if I'd listened to the song, I would have enjoyed it more...)

Anyway, it's a really dumb but infectious song about dancing in your polka-dot pants. It's still stuck in my head, and I read the book over an hour ago.

Also, it got an extra star for the overuse of terrible, nut-related puns. (Oppan Gangnut Style? NUTELLAPHONE?! T

Admittedly, I felt a little bummed when Hazel's family completely ignored her attempts at gaining their attention. I know families are often busy, but I would've rather the family joined Hazel from the start to show their support. Everything ends well, and I love the incorporation of song and dance into the book with a free song download for kids. It's a great way to have them interact with the book. ...more

If you love the lyrical interactive text of Pete the Cat, you will enjoy The Nuts: Sing and Dance in your polka dot pants by Eric Litwin! Hazel nut just wants to sing and dance, does her family make time, not a chance! This book had my goof nuts joining in with rhymes, dancing, and giggling away.
Spoiler alert: everybody dances in the end!

The crazy thing about this book (and I am not talking about anthropomorphic nuts) is that the text gets stuck in your head: "Polka dot pants! Polka dot pants! Sing and dance in your polka dot pants!"

yikes.

Hazel Nut just wants to sing and dance in her polka dot pants, but her family is ignoring her, until Grandma comes and saves the day. While the acorn thing threw me off at first, the rhythm and song was super catchy and there are so many things you could do with this book in a storytime.

Super cute. Has a fun song to go with it (free download!) about a little nut girl and her nut family and how everyone is too busy to dance with her except for one special person. Who couldn't enjoy a book about dancing in polka dot pants?!

Move over Pete the Cat, Hazel the Nut is taking center stage. Hazel wants to dance and sing, but can't get her family to join in ... until she calls Grandma. And Grandma is READY TO ROCK!

Eric Litwin is the king of writing great books that have a chorus that will hook the kids in the story time audience. In this book, Hazel Nut is just looking for a family member who will sing and dance with her in her polka dot pants. Grandma Nut comes to the rescue.

A great story time read. Our library purchased this as a VOX book (audio, much like playaway) and the reader is great. This is by the author of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, and it is just as awesome.

This book will have you going nuts about polka-dot pants! While I enjoyed the idea of this book, and the rhythmic flow to the words, I feel like at certain parts it dragged on a little too long. It was a fun read, but I don't have any plans to read it again soon. ...more

As with the first Nut Family book, I enjoy the story that much more when you play the music along with the story. It begs to have some rhythm as you rock the dance moves :)
