A Brief History of Pakistan

Rate this book
Pakistan has assumed strategic importance on the world stage, acting as both a linchpin in the global war on terrorism and a swing state in the conflict between democracy and dictatorship, and between Islamic and secular rule. How did it come to occupy such a position, and what are the historical precedents for its present course?

A decent and concise account of Pakistan's history with brief insight into the history of the subcontinent. I usually prefer a foreign commentator on national politics/events because of their neutrality and unbiased perspective. Book states historical events in country's past in a text book manner and remains brief in details as is evident by the title of the book.
All in all, A Brief History of Pakistan is a good book on country's history and can serve as a guide for anyone interested in the subject.

One of the best book on Pakistan's history along with the brief history of subcontinent covering almost every important event happened in the history of subcontinent during different dynasties and other rulers who ruled the subcontinent, starting from very ancient time.
How and from where different cultures and ideas came into subcontinent and how they shaped the destiny of today's Pakistan.
Best one to read for those who are interested in the history of subcontinent and particularly of Pakistan.

A Brief History of Pakistan by James Wynbrandt. This book offers a brief overview of major historical events in the region that is now Pakistan, presented in chronological order, from almost 400 BCE to the 1st decade of 21st century.

I'd rate it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ cuz It's useful for those who want a simple and quick summary for exam preparation, but it lacks deep insight into key events and historical figures.

I had an amazing experience with this book. One of my seniors, Usama Jamil, suggested this for this the pre-partition history of Pakistan.

It's an alright book if you're looking for a brief and basic chronological recollection of past events up till 09. If you're looking for anything more than that; there are better history books out there.
