I didn't like this one as much as the first. We first met Sebastian in A Kiss of Lies and I really loved him. He was kind, compassionate, charming and I was really looking forward to reading about his story with Beatrice. However, he was kind of a disappointment in this book. He has a hardcore belief that love in a marriage is the end to any marriage as his parents said they loved each other but did horrible things to each other out of "love". Sebastian takes a LONG time to learn that his parent ...more

Bronwen Evans does it again!!!
I would like to begin by saying that author Bronwen Evans is one of my favorite authors. I recently discovered her books and I am so happy that I did. Ms. Evans' writing is music to my ears, she is cutting edge, innovative. The first book in The Disgraced Lords Series, A KISS OF LIES is the very first book I read by Bronwen Evans, and I loved it so, that I read her entire back list in a few days and now crave more.

In the second installment of The Disgraced Lords S

This is the second volume in The Disgraced Lords series, of which I’ve quite liked the first, A Kiss of Lies. For several reasons I was less grabbed by this opus than by the previous one.

Beatrice Hennessey only found one solution to save her mother and her sisters from ruin, and avoid marriage to a monster: force the man who killed her brother in a duel to marry her. Sebastian Hawkstone realizes quite fast

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, A Kiss of Lies, so I had high hopes for this book. And, it definitely met them! A Promise of More was a romantic, thrilling, absolutely fantastic read. I loved this book. It was wonderful.

Beatrice was a strong heroine. She refused to be backed into a corner or forced to do someone else's bidding. And, she was clever enough to always find a way out. I really liked her. She was tough, loyal to her loved ones, and very likable.

Sebastian was also gre

I discovered another regency series truly intriguing! It's called The Disgraced Lords written by Bronwen Evans.
I read the second book in this series APromise of More and I really liked a lot, although sometimes I felt the impulse to want to strangle the male protagonist, the irresistible Lord Coldhurst.

When Beatrice Hennessey sets out to confront Lord Coldhurst, the notorious rogue who killed her brother in a duel, her intent is to save her family from destitution. She’s determined to blackmail

Life is lonely enough without having to live with a stranger for the rest of your natural life.

The Disgraced Lords series features the five notorious rakes who call themselves the Libertine Scholars. Because, yea, life is unfair; our 'Disgraced' Lords are handsome, honourable, wealthy, virile, and of course smart (as with all heroes in bodice-rippers). The first book, A Kiss of Lies features

*The Disgraced Lords Series by Bronwen Evans, follows the story of 6 good friends who are called collectively the Libertine Scholars. Set during the regency periods, these men are of the ton, blue blooded, attractive intelligent and wealthy, they are sought after and desired by women and are the envy of men. They, however, are being targeted by an unknown enemy, a woman, their fathers might have wronged in some way in the past. While trying to solve who she might be, each of them come into dange ...more

A PROMISE OF MORE by Bronwen Evans is another exciting Historical Romance set in 1815-1816 London, England. #2 in the "Disgraced Lords" series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, "A Kiss of Lies".

Meet, Beatrice Hennessey, whose brother, Lord Coldhurst is accused of killing in a duel and Sebastian Hawkestone, Lord Coldhurst, the man who dueled with her brother earlier and one of the famous Disgraced Lords.

Fast paced with passion, secrets, and finding love. I adore this series and this author.

This series of "Disgraced Lords" keeps getting better and better, the second pair, that of Beatrice and Sebastian, I liked it even more than the previous (Christian and Serena) and this is saying much. A marriage of convenience that slowly turns into something different, while in the background the new and old enemies try to kill our heroes. In addition, the cliffhanger that introduces the next book - which I have to keep waiting a year :(((( - opens the door to a plot that looks really fascinat ...more

‘A Promise of More’ is the follow up to the wonderful Regency romance, ’A Kiss Of Lies’ the first in The Disgraced Lords series by Bronwen Evans. Good news - Ms. Evans isn’t losing any momentum with this second book. Sebastian, Lord Coldhurst, is a notorious rake who avoids any type of commitment from marriage to keeping a mistress. That doesn’t mean he likes to sleep alone either but anything close to monogamy sends him into a cold sweat. Naturally, as any self respecting romant

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second is a series of novels revolving around sex men. Members of the Libertine Scholars. Six hunky heroes as they fall in love.
Lord Coldhurst, Sebastian Hawkeston is a rake. He is a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy and prides himself on never wanting to settle down. He finds himself in a little bit of a pickle as he is propositioned by Clarice Hudson. Her current beau Lord Doogie Lar

I received an advance copy of the book to read and review from NetGalley. Overall I enjoyed the story. Sebastian, Lord Coldhurst, accidently kills the brother of Beatrice Hennessey in a duel and flees the country. Upon the approval of the Prince Regent he is pardoned and allowed back, just in time to rescue Beatrice, who is pushed off the dock near his ship. She has been waiting for him with a proposal – marry her and support her impoverished family in return for alleviating his guilt over his r ...more

So I read the first book in this series already and loved it. Let me just tell you not 5 minutes in and I was like OMG....so steamy. I LOVED IT!

I thought this book was so good. I love Sebastian. He was you true Rake with a heart of gold. I just loved how bad he was even when he tried to be good. I thought Beatrice was the perfect h for the H.

Wow, where to begin! I loved this and I love The Disgraced Lords Series. This book offers everything, from love, romance, heat, mystery, it just simply has it all. The detail of the historical facts that the author provides is amazing. You can tell through reading that Bronwen Evans really takes the time to get not only the romance portion of the story correct but also the historical portion. I think I actually like this installment better, the characters were even more unlikely than in the firs ...more

Sebastian he is really the ladies man, "white teeth flashed in his tanned face. "You could always change your mind and do something else with me while you're naked." He's cocky, "with a seductive brogue he said, "I doubt you'd find our marriage bed intolerable." He likes to be possessive, "now I'll make you mine. From tonight you'll belong to me. There will be no other man for you. I insist on it. I will know any child you bear is mine!" He knows how to soothe Beatrice's mind, "I am your husband ...more

This is a story about a emotionally wounded hero and spunky heroine. I fell in love with the heroine, Beatrice. She is an independent, no nonsense kind of gal with a witty retort. In my opinion, the hero Sebastian certainly doesn't deserved her, but for some reason does compliment her personality. This is the concept the author always portray, but still made readers comeback from more. The story is filled with a rollercoaster emotion and growing maturity that strengthen the relationship btw the ...more

I love this series! I really do! These guys are pure walking sex! I really like that we still get to see Serena and Christian involved, as well as learn about another of the LS in each story! I'm anxiously awaiting the next one! Sebastian has an enormous well of honor inside of him. Beatrice growing over time, gaining her self worth, self confidence, was interesting. I don't want to ruin the story. But this is good! Even if you haven't read the first in the series, you could pick this up and fee ...more

i liked this one better then the first one. i like how the author keeps all the characters from previous books involved in storyline. i like the H and h together. at times the h was annoying. i got tired of her wanting sebastion to fall in love with her without her being honest with him about her past. This was the first book I have read in the series and I must say that I really enjoyed it. The characters were fun and the premise is interesting. I will definitely be looking to read the other novels in this series.

Unfortunately there is one flaw in this novel, namely that though Beatrice trusts her husband and thinks that his honor is above reproach, she's scared to tell him about her friend Liz's baby. This came up before she even spoke to Dunmire. And even if she had, if he's really that hon

I didn't want this book to end. Beatrice is a head strong, loving woman who is struggling to help take care of the family after the loss of her brother. She confronts Sebastian, the man who killed him and proposes a marriage of convenience. The story is filled with emotion and has you guessing who, what and why as it progresses. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I received a copy from NeGalley in exchange for an honest review.

FINAL DECISION: My favorite of the series. I loved the couple and how the story played out. It was a good combination of the personal drama between the Beatrice and Sebastian and the overarching storyline.

The second in the series and the second I have read by this author, and this series is just getting better! What’s not to love from a group of men, nicknamed the Libertine Scholars: each of the men has a difficult family history and other issues to overcome, although most have struggled for years to prove themselves different from their fathers. The women in this series are all, bar one, the exact woman each man needs at this time in his life. None of their women are typical missish romance hero ...more

Ahh where do I start? Much with any of Miss Evans’ books that I have read, her stories are filled with well-written characters and intriguing plots that do not fail to captivate its audience. A Libertine's descent_________3 1/2 stars

So, Lord Sebastian Hawkstone, Marquis of Coldhurst, is a member of the Libertine Scholars' clique/ club. Libertine is right! The Oxford dictionary assigns further synonyms. A libertine in the sense used here (yes, there are other meanings!) is 'a person who is morally or sexually unrestrained, especially a dissolute man; a profligate; a rake.'Likewise descriptions were lecherous, licentious, lewd, really the list goes on...
