This is a nice book that follows four sleepy (or not so sleepy!) mice as they go to bed. The writing is often charming, for example:

Mum sighs once.
Dad sighs twice.
What happened to those sleepy mice?

The once/twice/mice pattern is used repeatedly and is very effective. However, the rhyming pattern and metre change abruptly several times throughout the book, making it hard to get into a rhythm when reading aloud.

I liked the way the story goes through the different parts of the bedtime routine, whi
Great little tale, whic rhymes, is cute, and is a lovely tale for bedtime reading. I read it to my son and we both enjoyed it, and he promptly fell asleep afterwards!!

A cute little bedtime book, for children being read to, suggested to me by Elizabeth of Australian Women Writer’s Challenge to tip me over the line for 2012.

My own daughter’s a bit young for a book this long, and she tends to like quite active books before bed, but I’ll be remembering this for when she’s a bit older

Great bedtime story. My little one was fascinated by the lovely illustrations. I struggled with the rhyme pattern at times. Lots of fun though.
