In all honesty I spent the first 40% or so, struggling to keep my eyes open. The day in and day out of the Delgado family dynamics and Adri's need to 'fix' everyone she comes in contact with, sadly left me bored.

With their mobster father behind bars, and enemies making advances, the Delgado children land in witness protection. Relocating from their Chicago home, to a small Florida town. The plan is to lay low, but oldest son, Robert, has plans to try to take over for his father when the time is

”Everything in balance.”

It has taken me what feels like forever to read this book. This is what I felt like once I finally finished.

The writing is good, the characters are good and the storyline is good. So what the hell was my problem with this book?

I felt like the story dragged and I had to push myself through. I think a good portion of day to day could have been condensed. Other than condensing, the teacher falling for the witness protection mob heir storyline was good but still

From the second I read the blurb to Outside The Lines I was hooked. I knew I had to read. You see, I have this obsession to mafia romances. As in, I can't ever pass one up. And having loved Lisa's A Little Too Far series, adding this one was a no brainer.

The premise of the book is fantastic. Robert "Rob" Delgado is the oldest son of a Chicago crime lord. When a rivalry with another mafia family finally
I attempted twice to get the ball rolling on this book. I am sad to say that I had to DNF at 45%. The slow pace along with too much mundane details had me pulling my hair out.

I must say while the intrigue to find out the story is somewhat niggling. Especially because of the entire mob aspect, somehow, I can't get pass the dullness.

ARC Review
This is my first book by this author. I was intrigued by the premise of a young man from a mobster-royalty family on the run after an assassination attempt on his family and now in witness protection. Robert Delgado is one of the princes of the Chicago Delgado crime family. His mother has been murdered and his father is in prison and targeted for turning state's evidence on other gangsters. In a power move, an unknown person sends an assassin to kill the Delgado children. In response,

I was a huge fan of Lisa Desrochers’ A Little Too Far series, so when I heard she was writing a new series, I couldn’t wait to read it! Outside the Lines is the first book in the On the Run series, and even though I didn’t fully love it, it’s an entertaining read with lots of potential for the series to get better. After the slow beginning, I found myself liking the book much better once the story picked up and I became invested in Rob and Adri’s

Robert Delgado is son to a powerful man that is now in jail and whose empire is up for grabs. He goes into witness protection with his family to protect them from a bounty placed on their heads. His relationship with Sherm, his little 9 yo brother seems to have suffered the most as the little boy witnessed Robert's protection and all that entails. Sherm's new teacher Adri helps coax Sherm out of his shell and he begins to open up. Adri and Robert are attracted to one another and Adri is a very o ...more

“You are the key to my soul. Electricity to my bulb. I was made for you, and you were made for me. I can’t think of anything more meant to be than that.”

One of the first things that drew me into this story was the synopsis. I mean, family on the run with a sort of forbidden romance quality to it. How could I say no?

Well, now that I've had some time to mull over my thoughts about this book, I can say this: I didn't hate it, but I was hoping to love it more than I did, too. Which is too bad, because really, it has all the right ingredients for a unique and enjoyable New Adult read.

As it says in the synopsis, Rob has moved with his family from Chicago to small town Florida under witness protection. I enjoyed this

I'm afraid I kept having to take a break from this, and then returning because I felt I must.

It may have been a timing thing, and my mind obviously wanted something less complicated, but I felt this contained a lot of detail, which had to be absorbed before the story could move on.

There was no issue with the writing, in that the words flowed, but they became a tad monotone and almost lulled me to sleep.

My Thoughts:

After reading Lisa Desrochers, A Little too Far Series, I have become a huge fan of hers. When I heard that Ms. Desrochers had written a new book, the start of a whole new series, I was beyond giddy. The On the Run Series focuses on the Delgado Family. Their father, Felix Delgado, is the head of the biggest old Sicilian Mafia crime family in Chicago. When he goes to prison, he negotiates to get his family into the witness protection program and secures a lighter sentencing; as part o

Here we go.... I'm going to sound a bit like every other review out there for a few moments but hang in there with me....

I really enjoyed Ms. Desrochers' A Little Too Far series, even going as far as giving the last book in the series five stars.  Soooo good.  When I saw she had a new series, of course I had to check it out.  I read the synopsis and thought, "Mafia family on the run from a hitman, sounds intriguing," ∗strokes imaginary beard∗.

I first fell in love with Lisa Desrochers’ A Little Too Far series. It was steamy, sexy, and a lot of fun. So when I saw she was coming out with a new series I jumped on it. Thinking of her steamy reads mixed with a mafia/crime family seemed like a perfect book for me!

The story did not live up to the blurb. It had the potential to be a really good story and I was excited to read it but my interest waned pretty fast. There were some parts I don't remember. This is not to say that others will not enjoy the story. the writing was good, maybe a little too descriptive on the everyday stuff. The inner dynamics of he family may hold some appeal. I found some of story unbelievable. The story ends in the main couple being together but there are

Josie's Review

I had to take a second and collect my thoughts before writing this review. I read the blurb and thought oh wow bad boy meets and falls in love with the small town girl, so naturally I jumped. I have to say the first part of this book was not what I expected. I thought it was a brilliant move on the author’s part to give readers more action, suspense and danger. The main characters in the story have a lot to tell. They all live with a guilt, remorse and a huge sense of responsibilit

Lisa Desrochers has been a favourite of mine for quite some time and I have to say here stories just keep getting better and dare I say hotter.

Outside the Lines while told in dual, first person narrative focuses most of the attention on Rob. The oldest of 5, he takes his role as big brother and protector very seriously. Unfortunately, the major snag in his ability to protect his siblings is that they are the heirs to one of the main mafia families in Chicago. An attempted hit on his family has r

Mafia books are my kryptonite. If there is even an undertone of racketeering, money laundering, down and dirty antics—or anything related to quintessential mafia businesses—I’m in. ALL IN! So, when I read the blurb for Outside the Lines, I was intrigued.

Outside the Lines is about a family who enters the witness protection program to save themselves… but it’s not a mother-father family, it’s a family of siblings. Rob is the oldest, and Sherman is the baby. Such a squirt that he’s in grade school

This book I felt was definitely more of a suspense then a romance since the romance doesn't really come alive until about half way. With that being said I think this series has some great potential.

Rob entered his four younger siblings in witness protection after someone broke into there family home to kill them. Now with his father in prison it's up to him to find out who has the hit on his family and figure out how to keep distance between him and a sexy school teacher.

Adri knows Rob isn't t

This is the first book in a new On the Run series by Lisa Desrochers. The book is romantic suspense but there is also some mystery mixed in. The series will follow a group of siblings who are in witness protection after someone took out a hit on the five of them. Their mobster father is in jail on racketeering charges. Book one sets up the story for the rest of the series and follows Rob, the oldest child, as he tries to get them settled with their new identities.

In a small backwater town, Rob

When I read the synopsis for Outside The Lines by Lisa Desrochers I knew I had to read this book. Once I began to read this book I became immersed in the characters world. Their story came to life and I couldn't predict which direction the next page was going to take. Outside The Lines stands on it's own merit in the romance genre, the romantic suspense genre, the new adult genre, and the organized crime romance sub-genre. This book will attract readers of all ages. But what stood out the mo

As an avid mafia romance reader, I was very excited to see a book in this genre listed on NetGalley. At 40% into, I must admit I started to be concerned there was going to be more talk than action. Yes, this book definitely sets the stage for a potentially great series, so I understand the author's intent was likely the need for character/plot development.

Another factor was I didn’t particularly care for some of the main couple’s behavior. The heroine’s barrage of questions every time she saw t

I was a big fan of Lisa's first new adult series – A Little Too Far – so I couldn't wait to see what she would give us next. Having never read anything by Lisa Desrochers, I took a shot in the dark shot in the dark with Outside the Lines based on the cover, which really is eye catching, and the synopsis of the book. The mafia/organized crime has always peaked my interest so it makes perfect sense that I’d be drawn to it and overall I enjoyed it though it took awhile for things to really get going.

I find myself in a catch 22 situation with the beginning 40% or so of the story because as much as I enjoyed

A few years ago, I read the A Little Too Far series by Lisa Desrochers and loved it! I loved it so much I devoured the rest of her books. I have patiently been waiting for her to release something new. Outside the Lines is a good start to the On the Run Series. At times the story dragged especially the first 40% of the book. There was quite a bit of description of the Delgado family dynamics and shuttling Sherman to and from school.
