Denying Thanatos

This novel made me think of the prepper videos my husband watches on youtube. Alot of knowledge went into this book. You really get a look at the day to day life of someone trying to live off the land in a harsh way. Frank is slowly starving to death because he is out of food and game in sparse. If it weren`t for his wilderness skills, he would have been dead long ago. When a medical need arises, Frank realizes that he doesn`t have any other option than return to the city where dangers lie.
This book is a little slow paced, but the story was great. The jumps between the present and the past were very smoothly transitioned. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes post-apocalyptic or survival fiction.

Iain McKinnon creates a totally hostile, and unforgiving world in Denying Thanatos. Frank the protagonist of the story, survives on the edge, as ill health and starvation threaten to end his tormented existence. The book is so well written, and every scene beautifully constructed, that you could almost be walking with Frank.

WOW!!!! An author recommended this to me some time back and let me know I needed time to savor the tale slowly. The story is slow-paced and meant to be read that way. It’s obvious the “everything” McKinnon gave to these pages .... The kind of book that makes the reader stop and put it down to really think. Very well-written and developed and worth every moment of the read. I believe every human can relate to this character and feel an immediate kinship the the amazing author. I’m sorry it took me so long to read it but glad I waited until I had the time to enjoy it the way I did ... as I’m certain it was intended. McKinnon is a master!
