Not quite as sexy as the first book, but definitely worth reading if you loved Grace Colton and Jared Rankin as much as I did. This time around, major surprises abound and we uncover more about all of the characters. I wished that Grace hadn't been quite so scared in this book - I wanted to smack her so many times for not just doing what she knew was right. But the back third of the book was so full of suspense and yearning and angst (in a good way), that I can't help but forgive Heidi Joy Treth ...more

politics and sex are a match made in heaven. ;)

Grace and Jared are back at it in this dramatic, sexy & sometimes whiny second installment of the Phoenix series that will have all of the pundits talking. If Grace thought that releasing the picture of her and Jared was bad….well, the secrets she now keeps are so much worse. She and Jared may have just professed their love for each other, but Grace is still a little unclear as to where they’re headed…and she can’t get anything out of Jared. Of cour

After the little photo scandal that the Darrows concocted , Grace Colton is back on top and running alongside Shep on the presidency campaign with her behind the scenes boyfriend Jared as her campaign manager. What will happen though when Grace discovers that her whole political aspirations may very well be flushed down the toilet when she discovers that she is pregnant with Jared's baby. This could be the worse time for her to get pregnant, right in the middle of a campaign she has spent the la ...more

Note to reader: This is the second book in a series so if you have no read THE PHOENIX CANDIDATE, I wouldn't advise reading this review as their could be spoilers. But I DO advise reading this series if you like political romances!

Heidi should just rename this book "Secrets secrets are no fun. All they do is hurt someone." This ENTIRE second book was all secrets and lies and it was good BUT it drove me bananas.

Grace in particular drove me bananas. I felt like all of the confli

Oh how I loved getting back into the world of Grace and Jared. I was so excited to get my hands on this book after reading The Phoenix Candidate that I dove right in and read it one sitting. I have decided that Heidi Joy Tretheway is one of the smartest writers around and The Phoenix Campaign was written just as intelligently as book one.

As soon as your start TP Campaign, a bomb is dropped on you. WOW! I mean a huge plot changing bomb that totally shocked me. It is truly the catalyst behind thi

This wasn't as good for me as the first Grace Colton book. I still loved her and Jared and everyone else, but there were just too many secrets. I don't just mean too many secrets for the relationships to maintain, but also just too many for the reader to keep track of.

The Phoenix Campaign:

Ambition. Lust. Sacrifice. Politics just got a whole lot sexier.
Grace Colton’s life is a blur—security, appearances, and a desperately fast ramp-up to Election Day. Political consultant Jared Rankin is pulling the strings to win the White House with the Conover-Colton ticket.

But the fragile relationship Grace and Jared forged could be ruined by secrets traded for political leverage. She’s h

Scandal, sex, politics and secrets…

New secrets, new scandals, and definitely new sex *smirk* happens in The Phoenix Campaign. This second installment starts off where we were left in book 1. Grace doesn’t know where her and Jared’s relationship stands. “We’re in limbo, the nether-state…” –Grace. She is determined to get Jared to admit to wanting more…wanting more of everything…wanting her forever. But with the campaign and the constant going going going, it’s nearly impossible to do any

The Phoenix Campaign is a solid follow-up to The Phoenix Candidate. With the Conover-Colton campaign well underway, Grace's secret could not only destroy her relationship with Jared, but could undermine the campaign itself. Keeping secrets drives a wedge between Grace and Jared, and Jared brings in Sasha, a ball-busting campaign manager, to take over with Grace so he can focus on Shep. Things go from bad to worse when tragedy strikes her office. And when Shep's own secret is revealed, things go ...more

OMG I am loving this series! Heidi Joy Tretheway has done it again with The Phoenix Campaign, and I am already dying for the next book. These books have to be read in order, so make sure that you start with The Phoenix Candidate before reading Campaign. I really loved this book, though I will admit that I was also really frustrated throughout it as well. But I absolutely devoured it, and I cannot wait for more Grace and Jared.

This book had me hooked on SCANDAL. Only this series is a little bit sexier, a little bit more complicated and there’s a whole lot of skeleton in the closet waiting to be discovered.

Grace Colton’s life had become busier the moment she was named Vice-President for the Conover Campaign. It was now the Conover-Colton ticket for the November election. But of course, there were still those pictures that were exposed in public, making her love life the center of every intrigue the p

This is a hard one to review, because oh my gosh, spoilers--there are potential spoilers everywhere! so I'm going to stick with a lot of general comments--sorry!

I love, love, love Grace and Jared. They aren't together as much as I'd like in this one--it's too close to the election to let them spend time on frivolous things like relationships--but when they are, the scenes are just as explosive as in book one. I love these two together.

After reading The Phoenix Candidate, I had to dive right into the second book to see what happened next with Grace. It seemed her life was on track and she had the support of an amazing man. But one little hunch changes the game again and she is not sure what to do now.

Grace is still that confident and determined girl, but she is hesitant in The Phoenix Campaign because she is unsure of what Jared wants in the future. He has had it rough in the past and find

Grace and Jared are back in the second installment of the series and basking the glow of their newly acknowledged love. Grace has been named the VP for the Conover presidential ticket, the campaign is ramping up ahead of the elections and her days are hectic and filled with travelling and campaign appearances. So This book Stars off where the first one left off & I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! It was really faced paced and at times I found that very frustrating but I enjoyed it at the end!

Jared & Grace have a secret relationship that has not been exposed to the public yet. Grace isn't ready to go there yet. She wants to win the race first. But there are secrets that she's hiding. From everyone. Including Jared. Wh

I love a book that reads like a movie or mini-series and that's just what I feel when I read The Grace Colton novels by Heidi Joy Tretheway. When said book contains smart political dialogue, interesting political strategy, unexpected plot twists, great characters and some super steamy scenes --- sign me up! This book caused some serious sleep deprivation. I was up late 2 nights in a row anxiously turning the pages to see what happens next for Grace and Jared. Heidi Joy Tretheway's sharp and savv ...more

Now that Grace is the VP Nominee, life is about to on fast forward and crazy. She is still fighting for her right to decide her path and not be controlled either by the ambition of others or the desire for power.

Although this is very altruistic of her, the reality of politics cannot be forgotten. She is pushed and pulled to give the usual non committal answers or non answers. These can be construed as half lies and once you start there is no end in sight.

The Phoenix Campaign by Heidi Joy Tretheway is the second book in her Grace Colton series. This book could be read as a standalone but I loved the first book (The Phoenix Candidate) and you should read it too.

Grace is on the campaign trail for her Vice Presidential ticket. That in and of itself makes for a hectic life, non-stop schedule and stress-filled days. When you add in the secret relationship with Jared Rankin, the personal secret she is keeping from him, her toxic mother, and Trey's issu

Scandals, secrets, and lies, oh my! If you're looking for a book that will keep you wondering just what's going to happen, look no further!

The Phoenix Campaign picks up right where we left off with Grace and Jared. We get a look into her campaign with Shep, and we see her do battle against the Republican ticket. What we also see is just how human these candidates and the people who love and help them are. What I loved most about this book is that we get to see just how human Jared, Grace, and Sh

The Phoenix Campaign is the second book in the Grace Colton series. And this book was just as fantastic as the first one. Congresswoman Grace Colton’s life keeps getting crazier and more intense. Being the VP candidate in an campaign would be intense, hiding secrets makes it even more so.

The second books picks up where the first one leaves off. Grace finds out she is pregnant and isn't telling anyone. Her and Jared are in love but keeping their relationship secret. Grace is dealing with

This is a bridge book and I didn't go into it with that mindset so I wasn't really prepared for it. I'm still totally engrossed in the characters and invested in the outcome but this book was an exercise in patience. There are few things that drive me more bonkers than when people withhold critical information and one of those things is when they manage to drag it out ad infinitum.

A couple of positives about this book: It is a roller coaster of emotions and a whirlwind of activity, it gets ugly

Heidi is the author who got me into politics in reading and now, I am watching.. I am hooked on Scandal and this second instalment has all the secrets, with holding information, secrets, did i mention any secrets, omg, tell him Grace, please it will be like a weight has lifted. But..... makes for a damn dull story!!! So yet again, Heidi has written a great book. Full of passion, secrets, and this political drama that keeps me on my toes. What a cliffhanger!

This series started off with a bang (literally) and has ended with a bang! It had many twists and turns which kept me interested. At points it was starting to become repetitious , but you pulled away from that just in time to keep me coming back. I am so looking forward to reading the last one in this series. I would love to share in the early readers group if at all possible. I have read both series of your books and ENJOY them immensely! Keep up the great writing, you get be
I'm the kind of the person who would much rather lay things out on the table early on in the game, rather then spend any amount of time pondering things, so the endless pondering in this book drove me crazy. "JUST TELL HIM!!!!" I thought innumerable times. The political aspects were interesting and the sex was good, but overall, the lack of forthrightness--though it was firmly grounded in character--sunk this book for me. But I'll probably read the third. ...more

Heidi Joy Tretheway is a sucker for campfires, craft cocktails, and steamy romance in books and real life. She sings along with musicals (badly), craves French carbs, and buys plane tickets the way some women buy shoes.

Her first career as a journalist took Heidi behind the scenes with politicians, rock stars, and chefs, all of whom inspire her stories. She writes whip-smart characters who break ru

“To be loved for your best self is hollow. All can be beautiful, for a time. All can be graceful, in turn. But this love cannot endure. To be loved for your true self is fulfillment. It is a deeper magic, dynamic and wild. It celebrates the scars. It forgives the failings.  It embraces the struggle. True love is not blind. It sees. Everything. And yet, it still loves.” 0 likes
