Ten-year old Nina awakens to the bustling sounds of Falkland Road, in the heart of Mumbai, India: honking, clanging, and shouting. She readies herself for the first of many men and the horrors of another day. Her life - and her body- are not her own.
Tragically, Nina is one of 21 million women and children who are trapped in the $32-billion "industry" of sex slavery. But this is the story of Project Rescue's fight to restore their dignity and give them hope for a better life.
I love hearing about the works and testimonies of Project Rescue. This book was a fast read and eye-opening to the rampant abuse that is often overlooked across the world.
I love what Project Rescue does. In working on a youth event with the organization I am a part of (Justice-network.org), Project Rescue sent me this book after I told them I loved the first book. I was so touched by their gift. What I was most touched about was that they gift so many women and children who are wounded and hurting.
This book gives perspectives of various women and girls who either could have become human trafficking victims because of their circumstances (such as homelessness) or they were indeed victims. This tells how even though they are dealing with the wounds, there is someone who loves them and takes all their pain away named Jesus. Such powerful stories.
Very disturbing, but eye opening. This read has created a more urgent need on my part to volunteer to help these women and children as much as possible.
