Copping an Attitude is darker than the first book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone, as there is only a brief mention of Trent and Shawn from book 1.

One of the MCs, Parker, is a cop on the Vegas Strip. Parker is Darren's partner from book 1 and the kind of guy who still believes in fairy tales.

When Parker (almost) arrests a young prostitute named Slade*, he feels an immediate connection to the clearly haunted, frightened young man.

*Not his real name.

This started out really really strong.
It had a nice slow build up. We get to know Slade and the situation he is in, with him being a sex worker.

I adored Slade. My heart broke for him.

There was no use in crying. He’d figured that out three years before when his staunchly religious parents had kicked him out once they ’d caught him kissing his boyfriend. He’d been seventeen and still had three months to go before he graduated, so he’d taken a job at a fast-food

If you like men in uniform being heroic, then look no further.

Parker is a beat cop working the Las Vegas strip. He comes across a scared young man accused (and rightly so) of solicitation, and though he runs away, Parker can’t stop thinking about him.

The prostitution life is no picnic, and when you throw in a sadistic pimp named Julio, Slade is just barely surviving. Unbeknownst to him, he’s caught between Julio and a rival pimp, putting his life in even more danger. Good thing Parker is

Kicked out of home at 17 for being gay, Slade has had to do whatever he can to survive on the streets. This has led him to Vegas, where he works as a hustler on the Strip for a scary abusive pimp, Julio, who controls his entire life. When Julio gets embroiled in a turf war with a Russian pimp, Slade and his fellow sex workers become targets of retribution, turning an already horrible situation even more impossible.

Reading Morticia Knight is like munching on a bag of potato chips. I can't have just one and I can't stop until it's all gone. Plus, I love me some rent boys so, naturally, I gobbled Copping an Attitude right on up.

Slade is working the streets when he gets chased down by Parker, which of course scares the crap outta him, since Parker is a cop. He's not so much scared of Parker as he is of the consequences he'll face from his pimp if he's caught.

Parker is instantly drawn to Slade. He sees

I was excited for this one… As hot as the first installement but throwing in some depth, should make this a great story!! You should think….

The build-up was good. I hurt for Slade. Being thrown out of his home at a young age, Slade became victim of the sex-industry.

It's really difficult to read this. This is so inappropriate. I know someone who this happened to--who was young and vulnerable and a caretaker didn't understand that or appropriate boundaries started a relationship. It was a horrible relationship and the girl is just now several years later, getting how horrible it was that this person took advantage of her. (The person not only got fired but was investigated for it because it's that much not okay.) It's just wrong. It's normal for

Rent boy stories always pose a bit of a dilemma for me;
there is the 'wow, life is great - making a ton of money having great sex with hot guys' version which I personally am incapable of really bying into. A part of me simple refuses to believe that someone would actually choose to be a prostitute.
Then there is the 'kicked out by parents for being gay and ending up in really nasty situations' type of story.

The story sounded interesting and the Las Vegas setting cinched it. Haven't visited Vegas in RL for several years! Unfortunately, aside from its rep as Sin City, the locale didn't play as big of a role in this book as I’d hoped. A few places were casually mentioned, but overall disappointed not to feel more of a sense of the city--it's an interesting, quirky place. But this is a series book, so perhaps most

I wanted to like this book but to me everything came together just a little quickly. Insta love I dont usually mind but here Slade and Parker meet, as Parker is arresting Slade, a rentboy. Slade runs off but Parker cant stop thinking about him. Weeks later, Parker is called to an assault and its Slade. From there, their relationship goes full speed ahead. Mist people accept it.
However, what I dont get is that in the

Parker is a cop whose beat is the Vegas Strip. Slade/Lonnie is a prostitute who works the Strip. Parker is at a point in his life where he wants to meet the one instead of the one right now. Slade just wishes his life was different. Parker meets Slade during an arrest and the two are instantly attracted which felt totally rushed an unrealistic. Slade's character acts really young at times - almost like a high schooler.

Need to finish the series.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Sin City Uniforms series, and while it is not really necessary to read book 1, All Fired Up, for you to follow this one, I think you should read it. If only because I said so!

Slade ran away from one kind of hell, straight into another one and has been surviving on the streets, being pimped out or facing the consequences. Till a beat cop spots something in Slade that makes him wish for things that

Who would have thought that being kicked in the balls would make a love match? Second chances can come from where you least expect them but when they do take them, you never know what might happen.

This book is the second in the series 'Sin City Uniforms' but can be read standalone. But I preferred to read the first volume before this one and I don’t regret my choice. Indeed, in the first volume the author describes certain vibes in some parts of Las Vegas. Even if it’s not necessary for a proper understanding of the story, it’s interesting to get a better feeling of the atmosphere that prevails in some

Slade Wolfgang succumbs to the lure of the big city lights of Vegas after being thrown out by his family when he comes out to them. He didn’t realize the struggle it would be to make it on the strip, and now he is under the thumb of a ruthless pimp that whores him out to the highest bidder. Slade wants out, he wants his life back, but Julio has other plans for his hot, young hustler.

Parker McLean is drawn to the fear that permeates off Slade when he attempts to arrest him. All he can think about

I am really liking this series, the characters Knight has created, and the setting of the Las Vegas Strip. Slade appears on page and instantly you want to know all about him and see him break free from the life he is practically imprisoned in. He has no way out, has nothing to even dream about anymore, until he meets Parker. But dreaming about being with someone like Parker is not even a luxury he should allow himself to have. Parker is just a regular guy. He

This is the second in the series - and although the leads of book 1 are mentioned, it is more a nod than being essential for the story. That said, I really enjoyed All Fired Up, and would recommend you read it too.

This is an unusual pairing - the patrol cop and the man forced into prostitution - but it really does work. The trafficking plot has merit and there are some clever twists, and it adds to the romance very

I loved the combination of strength and vulnerability displayed by both Parker and Slade/Lonnie. They both have reasons to be unsure of the other, especially Slade, who has been trapped in a horrible live since being rejected by his parents as a teenager. They have an undeniable chemistry together, but lots of baggage that needs to be dealt with before even considering a relationship.

The supporting characters are just as engaging and help make the story come alive! Morticia does an excellent job

Cop + sex work = messy
When Parker tries to arrest Slade one night on patrol his life is changed. Something about Slade makes Parker feel something he hasn’t in a long time and he honestly thinks Slade is in a bad situation and is being exploited. I thought the story line concept was good but things seemed too rushed and at times too perfect. I loved the chemistry between Parker and Slade/Lonnie but at times it

A dissatisfied cop in Las Vegas meets a trapped hooker under a ruthless pimp's thumb and wants to save him. Hopeless hooker meets a kind cop and wants to be saved. It's a match made in heaven. I'm kind of torn on this book. On one hand I really liked both Parker and "Slade/Lonnie." On the other hand Slade/Lonnie kind of drove me batty. I get that he was being traumatized and went through a lot, but oh my

This is the second book in the Sin City Uniforms but it isn't necessary to read in order this can be read as a stand alone...I haven't read the first one and had no problem following Copping and Attitude.

I really don't have much to say about this book it was just OKAY. It was a really good story but I just didn't connect with it; I think because it felt kind of predictable. You know like I had read it before...change names,

Enjoyable entertaining read.
Set in Las Vegas. With different members of the emergency rescue forces- police, swat, fire.
Recommend the book and the series.

I'll say it now, I have not read the first book in this series. For what it's worth though, that didn't really detract from my enjoyment of this book. Although I think they did get a mention so for those interested, but for the most part, new cast, new story, new everything.

Slade was thrown out of his home when he came out to his parents for the first time. With nowhere to go and nothing to turn to, he sets off for Las Vegas
Original Blog Post: Happy Happy Release Day Review: Copping an Attitude (Sin City Uniforms #2) by Morticia Knight

This is a Morticia Knight story so it's good, that's a given. As I had read the first of this series, All Fired Up (Sin City Uniforms #1), I was definitely on the look out for this one. And I really, really liked this one, more than the first.

Here we have a cop and a sex worker. Parker walks the Vegas strip to protect the citizens and apprehend the violators. One of those violators he

This is the second book in her Sin City Uniforms which may be a spin off from her Uniform Encounters series. I have yet to find any crossover characters from Encounters in this series. This is only book two, but it is a really good start to this new series.

This book is a bit darker than her others in that it tackles the seedy world of human trafficking and prostitution. Here, you have a young man, Slade aka Lonnie Henderson was a young man who, through no fault of his

Copping an Attitude is a sweet story about a cop, Parker, and prostitute, Slade. Basically, while making his rounds, Parker comes across a fight at a casino. There he finds Slade slithering away from the scene. When confronted, Slade runs and Parker chases him down. He threatens to take Slade into the station, but Slade begins to freak out. If Slade fails to make enough money in a night, his pimp will beat him or

This story is dark, heavy and hurtful. I guess the author could’ve written it grittier, if not for anything else than to rub all the awfulness in the reader’s face, but luckily she didn’t go there. The hustler in this book is a true chameleon, someone who’s learned how to become what people want him to be. The cop is a good guy, maybe a little too good for his own good, but in this case that works just

3 stars ... This is my first book by this author.
There were many enjoyable moments for me in this book. Snarky funny dialogue (my favorite!), hunky cops (another fave), tragic rent boys and other assorted interesting characters (love Sampson!).
Note to self - read the first book in this series.
I'm not sure how Parker ever forgives Slade for their first meeting.
Slade never quite catches my fancy though. I kept thinking
