My heart has never ever raced this fast as it did during the few last pages omg

I loved this book a lot. It was a bit different than I use to read and it was a quick read (well it would've been unless I wouldn't have been so busy with other stuff). This was the first book I've ever read from the author and this shall not be the last, I fell in love with the way she writes, it's so good!
I would've given this book 5/5 but it was missing a spark of fast pacing and other things like that.

This was a gem of a find & really enjoyable reading. It was fast paced without seeming rushed and had meaty characters you could sink your teeth into, which is often hard to sustain in a novella sized, small town mystery.
A very current, topical plot line was handled well ensuring the reader didn't get bogged down with technical points or felt the writing of the issue was getting "preachy". This work has certainly ensured that I want to read further into the series to find out more about our

A young woman whose marriage has hit a rough patch returns to her hometown and helps local authorities investigate a series of unexpected deaths.

Fiona Quinn manages to pack a lot of story into this novella without making the pacing feel rushed. Kate Hamilton, forced to leave her home in Boston due to her soldier husband's PTSD, returns to the small Virginia town where she grew up at around the same time as her ornery Uncle Owen dies of what seems like a heart attack. Kate is there to work as a

A very fast paced story. I could not put this book down.

Kate returns to her small hometown to lick her wounds. Her husband has PTSD and it is not safe for her to live with him. She intends to stay with her aunt and uncle, but arrives in time for her uncle's funeral. It appears he has suffered a heart attack.

Kate is a school teacher. She is going to be a CSI intern in Scarborough for the summer. Nothing ever happens in this town so it should be slow paced summer.

No sooner has Kate attended her

This novella is the story of schoolteacher Kate Hamilton, a woman who was asked to leave her marital home by her husband as he worked through his PTSD. Her uncle’s passing gave her a good excuse to go home and spend time with her aunt Emma, along with a school project she prearranged. The sheriff is her old high school beau, and he’s agreed that she can do a summer internship with his force for her master’s program in criminology.

As it turns out, her sleepy hometown isn’t so sleepy. One person

Mine was a very gripping tale of a woman who returns to her home town due to personal issues. There she visits her aunt and helps her cope with the loss of her husband, Kate's uncle. Things start to go out of control when people start turning up dead, and with Kate's background dives into the investigation to assist the town's detective, her old high school boyfriend. Who committed the murders? Why? Is Kate next? Read this wonderful novella to find out! Ms. Quinn writes well rounded characters, ...more

Ģreat quick mystery read.

Now i want more. How are Tim's and Kate's working relationship after she broke his heart and they both married someone else. She could have picked any city for her internship, why the little hick town she grew up in working with her former love. What about her husband, Ryan? Didn't care about him until it was mentioned that Striker Rheas and Lexi know him from the Lynx Series. Hmm, need another Kate Hamilton book, but really need another set of series involving The

Crackerjack Mystery by Fiona Quinn. Mine is a powerful, page-turner, about what happens to a school teacher CSI in-training, taking some space from PTSD stricken husband, when she returns to her hometown. Mayhem - murder, snarky characters, snappy dialogue, nicely inserted references to past relationships, conspiracy - are clearly more than coincidences for Kate, though not to anyone else. Love the superbly researched, crisp plot-linehint complete with subtle hints, and a smashing ending. I have ...more

I mostly read thrillers, and occasionally a mystery. I’m glad I picked, Mine by Fiona Quinn.

Kate Hamilton, in training, seeks to solve a murder mystery. Only problem, the police don’t believe it’s murder. They think it’s untimely deaths.

It’s hard not to like Kate Hamilton. Great character.

I wasn’t able to solve the mystery. But after getting to the end, I could see the clues along the way. Hind sight is perfect sight.

Good Book

I started this book on May 25 and finished it this morning. It's one of those can't-put-it-down books. The author's understanding of CSI is excellent, and you'll never guess who .... Nope, I'm not going to spoil it for you. Read this, and read the others of this author, who is sure to become widely known very quickly.

Great story

I read this novella over the last few weeks and while I normally power through books like this I took my time. I think this is a great story and the ending is not something easily guessed. I definitely recommend it.

>This book is the first book in the Kate Hamilton Mystery series and ends with the mystery solved. Kate’s husband comes back from Iraq with severe PTSD. She needs to move away while he gets treatment, for her own safety. Kate is a science teacher and decides to do a CSI internship in her hometown for the summer. She is to shadow the local police officer, Tim, who is also her ex.

This is the third book I've read by author, Fiona Quinn. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

This story begins with Kate Hamilton returning to her home town in rural Virginia to complete a CSI internship under the guidance of her childhood friend. Unbeknown to anyone but her Aunt Emma, Kate's husband has asked her to leave their home for her own safety. As Kate and Tim (her childhood friend and Detective on the local police force) begin investigating the deaths of two local teenage

Kate is a teacher married to a vet suffering from PTSD. Needing a break from her marriage, she returns to her small Virginia hometown for a change of scenery and to complete a forensics internship with the local police. But people are dropping like flies sprayed with Raid. With the help of her hunky ex-boyfriend/detective, she dives in.

this is a novella and as such is short and relatively to the point. Kate is likeable enough but the small town hostilities were overdone. Didn't care much for

Love this book. Kate Hamilton is curious with a sixth sense. I can't wait for ours to be released. I did not read the books in order the first time but, I went back and read them in order. I love the characters and Inquuis (sp) is the most wonderful group and I could not put these books down. I love how they all become a family and how they find love and happiness in their mission.. A Captivating Mystery

The author doesn’t disappoint when it comes to writing an explosive, page-turning story that sets the foundation for some wacky and obnoxious characters, divulging a few secrets and lies, sudden twists and turns, scandal, betrayal, political intrigue, drug abuse and the misuse of wealth, power, and privilege. Kate Hamilton is a sharp criminal scene investigator, and her relationship with Detective Tim Gibbons, whom she dated back in high school, becomes the focus of gossip,

This book is about a high school science teacher who has returned to her small town because of the death of her uncle and to do a CSI-type internship for her studies. SO many people then begin to die in just days. Are these intentional murders? Accidental deaths? How does a high school science teacher figure out all the clues?! This is a great beginning to mysteries solved by Kate Hamilton. It was not too long to read, and kept my attention the whole time and CERTAINLY tricked me about ...more

A small town with a sinister twist and a soap opera’s worth of personal drama. I don’t even really know what to say about the story. I adored it, but that feels like I’m damning it with faint praise. Kate is such an amazing character. She’s brilliant while still being down-to-earth. She represents every one of us who’ve sat at home watching or reading crime dramas wondering what it would be like to be in the thick of it. Turns out it’s both not nearly as exciting as we’d like to think and so ...more

Murders In A Small Town

I loved this book. Coming from a small town I can say T-shirt author got everything right about the gossip, rumors and nosiness. Kate returns to her hometown in time for her uncle’s funeral and her internship as a CSI with the local police. The detective she works with happens to work with is her high school sweetheart, Tim. Her husband in Boston asked her to leave while he tries to get help with his PTSD. As soon as Kate shows up, people start dying and she and Tim try

Loved this character!

Kate got a lot more than she planned when she went home to do her internship in CSI. Not only her uncle is dead but then there are more deaths. This character was great. Not only was she smart but she was also dealing with problems of her own as her husband was dealing with PTSD. Tim was the local detective and an old boyfriend and was likable. Some great twists as she worked with Tim. This was a wonderful story! Loved it!
