***This is a standalone novel.***

This isn't a story about a BLACK man and a WHITE woman who fall in love. It's not a story about how opposites attract. It's not a story about unity or overcoming society's expectations, delusions, biases, or criticisms. And it sure as hell isn't a story about how two people changed the country's view on race and love.

This is another great read by Emily Eck. Most people don't realize the struggles and worries that interracial couples can, and still do, face. I am white and married, happily, to a black man for 9 years now. Luckily, we didn't go through everything Denise and Michael did. Yes, I have had some family members that weren't happy at first, but luckily for us, we, and our daughter, changed them and made them realize that love doesn't see colors, it is color blind. Yes, I have concerns about our daugh ...more

I was given this book for an honest review. This is the first book I've read by Emily Eck and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! I will DEFINITELY be reading more. She definitely writes a very thorough, detailed, enjoyable, twisty, real life story that you can totally envision yourself in. When most people think of their normal love stories, they think love is easy and happily ever after. I don't want to give too many details and spoil this AWESOME story, but Michael and Denise, being an interracial couple ...more

Loved, loved, loved this newest book. It's sweet, funny, sexy, and deals with real relationship issues that people can relate to, even if they've never been part of an interracial couple. Another must read.

The beginning of this amazing story, slowly tears your heart right in half. But the best part is, throughout the pages, somehow, your heart will mend right along with Michael and Denise.

"Lord, I swear I'll keep it together. You know I usually do. It was one poor choice, and I was just trying to make rent. I've already got a new job lined up at the Valvoline that opened up last month. Keep me employed, please. That's all I ask. Thanks, Amen."

I read just about anything. I may not like it, but I a

Here's the thing; writing isn't easy.
We get these ideas in our wild brains and put them in book form hoping the world gets it. Some do, some don't whatever.

But, when I read Him & Her, I got all the feels.

Giving me any kind of feeling isn't easy considering I have a black heart. These two melted it, totally.

Love isn't easy.
Being broke isn't either.
But living in a community where race is an issue? It can be torture.
You'd think in 2015 black and white relationships wouldn't shock folks, but s

I could not get into this book because of the writing. The POV switched too often, it was a little disorientating.
