How did I not know about this book?

This book was a bliss, it was all rainbows and unicorns on my innocent little heart, until it wasn't. It broke my heart, stomp on it, cut it in tiny-itsy pieces and then it set fire to it.

I loved it. It was nice to get to read this characters again. I just wish there was more. There were somethings that kind of feel like there should be more, like who is the adviser really? and What about Violet?

Here is to hoping more is to come in a future!

Let me start off by saying that I FREAKING LOVE this series. I mean, seriously. I wrote my college senior thesis based on the themes and the plot of this book - it's absolutely amazing and different in ways that Young Adult Paranormal Literature usually isn't.

With that being said, the first three books of this series( Darkness Becomes Her (Gods & Monsters, #1) by Kelly Keaton , A Beautiful Evil (Gods & Monsters, #2) by Kelly Keaton , The Wicked Within (Gods & Monsters, #3) by Kelly Keaton ) were wonderful. This one, by comparison, was not. Before rattling off to you all the reasons why I didn't like this book, let me tell you that I'm a little biased.

This is a book with a slow start but that picks up in a satisfying way. It is the fourth book in a series and does not function as a standalone story. There are just too many characters and too much history for that. But our heroin, a Gorgon relieved of the Burtons of that particular curse, find herself in the position of needing to save yet again the child she’d so recently rescued, the son of the goddess Athena. This sends her traveling through the realms of Olympus and beyond while her ...more

An okay sequel, not as good as the first two books

*sigh* I missed everyone in NEW 2!

Kelly Keaton kept me at the edge of my seat! I missed Ari and her kick butt moves!

the endddddd -- what? Kelly shattered me and then put me back together!

My emotions are all over the place right now that I don't even know what to say!

if you want a good YA paranormal romance, definitely pick this one up! Don't worry, you don't have to be familiar with the first couple books. though I recommend them! ;) It's been a while since I've read them, but I wasn't lost

Wow! This series gets better w/ each book. What an unbelievable ending! Excited for the next book in this series.?.

I anxiously awaited this fourth installment in Kelly Keaton's Gods and Monsters series. I thought the first one, Darkness Becomes Her, was such a brilliant breath of fresh air in the overpopulated field of paranormal romance as it incorporated a clever mixture of magical beings and ancient Greek gods, but most importantly a female protagonist who was tough as nails. The other books in this series have been quite enjoyable if not always quite as well thought out. It's fun to return to New 2 and ...more

this series improved quite a lot. i have to admit, i was feeling conflicted after the first book, but somehow, over the course of the last three books, the story and the characters became more vivid, more original than ever.
the things i liked:
1. Ari and Sebastian's relationship (those two sure grew and lived through some heavy stuff! also, insta-love from the first book turned into a slow-burn and oddly healthy relationship, different from your usual young adult vampire love story. me likey)
2.

I loved this entire series! I wasn't entirely sure if I would like it at first, as I'd never read any other Medusa stories, but I had trouble putting every book down. Just wish there was at least one more book!

I wanted to like it. I tried because the first three were really good but this one. Ugh. It felt rushed, lacked emotion, and has so many unanswered questions.
I hope this is not how it ends because that would suck big time.

This book was definitely my favorite up until around the 75% mark. For most of this story, I loved it, and was thinking about rating it higher than any of the other books. This was probably partly due to the fact that I love the Underworld, including Hades and Thanatos, so I was already pretty intrigued. But even the plot line was better than the others. The book starts off with Ari and Sebastian training and I absolutely loved it. I also still love Bran and he made an appearance right away as ...more

This was the worst of all series.
Seriously!!!!!
Percy Jackson and Rick Riordan score way above this.

I think Kelly was trying to imitate the gang by creating the kind of jocular irreverence for Gods by 'heros' ala Percy Jackson.
Calling Horus 'asshole' and other stupid stuff - is that supposed to be funny or show how tough and modern these heroes are? Like being American = license to disrespect other cultures and civilizations?

And the worst part of the story?
A kidnapping so God of Death can bring

Ohh... I can't believe it. Kelly Keaton!!! She is just... WOW. I absolutely loved the previous installments in the series, and I couldn't wait to read this one. Hell, it was most certainly worth it. In the end, I was just unsure of how Kelly Keaton managed to play with my emotions effortlessly. This book is just ups and downs for Ari and her friends. Goods and Bads that make Heart of Stone what it is. Really, please consider carefully before you decided not to read Darkness Becomes Her. I'm ...more

I liked this book, but I liked the rest of the books in the series better. In this book, Athena's baby boy Archer goes missing and it's up to Ari and Sebastian to try to find him. The twist with Lamia and Sebastian surprised me and the deal that Ari made with Mel, that she would sacrifice her life in order for Archer to be returned. Mel ended up sacrificing herself in the end. Speaking of the ending, the author skillfully played with my emotions regarding Ari and Sebastian's relationship. It was ...more

You know what Keaton, I CRIED.
Literally cried in 1/3 part of the last chapters and I take that as a good sign that I really drown in your story, extremely attached to this series! I'm emotionally shattered when I read this.
Tell me that there will be the 5th book please! Tho it has no cliffhanger ending, but the journey of Archer still has no ending, right? So please please please, write the 5th book please! (Okay, I'm kinda begging here :p)
I haven't satisfied enough with 'doue' of New 2, Ari

Note to self. If the series is originally marked as a trilogy and suddenly there's a forth book even when the third book still seems like the end maybe don't read the last book?

I really do love this series but I honestly think I could do without the heart palpitations the last few chapters have given me. I prefer the ending of The Wicked Within to Heart of Stone. It just seems like there needs to be more books. Maybe like, three? There is even MORE left unsettled.

But I do want to say thanks

I thought it was a trilogy so when I saw this book, I happily read it. Without knowing it is an emotional rollercoaster which made me cry so many times near the end. This book just broke the record. The love and the grief was so well expressed. Can't wait for the 5th book already. I like how this book isn't focused on the battling part like the previous books in the series but I still love every single book in this series because it's just

Holy Shiz!!!!

I'm so glad we didn't end at 3!! Ari's story needs to continue. She and Sebastian have a life to live, Archer and Violet to raise, and a war coming. They've also got a conflicted goddess to get out of The Underworld. As long as Kelly keeps writing, I'll keep reading!!!!

I have enjoyed this series, but I had a hard time reading this book with all of the typos, missing words and extra words.

The world of the Gods and Monsters series is well written and well thought out. I love how Kelly combines gods from different religions and time periods and combines them in new stories. I'm anxious to read the next book to find out what happens to Thalia, Mel and Violet.
