Every once in a while I venture outside my usual stomping grounds to pick up something a little different. I think it helps me maintain a sense of perspective as a reviewer, but that's just me. Most of the time these books are so-so, but occasionally I'll find a diamond in the rough. Unfortunately, a small percentage of them fall into neither category and like Margareta Osborn's The Cowboy, leave me banging my head on the wall.

I wont lie, my irritation started early. Chapter two to be exact, pa

THE COWBOY is another book in the Hot Aussie Heroes series recently released by Tule Publishing. I really enjoyed looking at Australia’s outback through the eyes of an American city slicker. And boy oh boy did Carina have a steep learning curve to adjust to what to her was an almost alien environment. Mice, snakes, spiders and possums are all horrifying when you stare eyeball to eyeball with them. But alternatively Jake is plunged into his own piece of unknown territory when he finds out that co ...more

Outback Cowboy is the first book in Margareta Osborn new series Hot Aussie Heroes Book 1 and follows the bubbling romance between New Yorker Carina Chapman and Australian Farmer Jake Richardson. At times Outback Cowboy makes you laugh with things that happen with Carina and Jake, and the readers will have problems putting the book down. Margareta Osborn portrayed the characters of Outback Cowboy especially Carina well and believable. The readers of Outback Cowboy will learn a lot about rural far ...more

Carina, Ree, Chapman had flown halfway around the country for her first real vacation in years and it was NOT supposed to be going like this! She was going to murder her assistant when she returned to New York. However when she found the resort she was actually booked in and saw Jake Richardson, the owner, she wondered if she was going to need to reconsider. He was after all sex on a stick all wrapped up in Aussie real man clothing. Jake was used to women leaving him, of not being enough or at l ...more

An Australian trip of a lifetime becomes something entirely different than planned. A chance of love for two unlikely people.

A mix up in her reservations takes Carina Chapman away from the luxury resort she thought she was staying at. To her surprise, she would be staying in a rustic retreat with no pool, spa, or any of the amenities she was looking for. Something she didn’t expect was the owner to be a sexy Aussie bushman that she can’t get off her mind.

Jake Richardson is trying to make his i

A cute read about a New Yorker finding herself lodging with a pretty delectable Aussie bloke, The Cowboy was an enjoyable short read.

Set in a fabulous bush location, Carina Chapman and Jake Richardson have chemistry and with it comes sexual tension and some fight. Jake had the whole Aussie thoughtful sexy bloke persona and whilst Ree was a little diva-ish at the start, I soon warmed to her.

"You just have to open your heart. You never know what you might find once you get over yourself."

Roz ~ My Written Romance
A sweet, lovely romance with some genuinely funny moments. Ree and Jake are a cute couple, and despite their relationship developing very quickly, it seemed believable and genuine.

I loved that neither Ree or Jake were caricatures or cardboardy.

The glimpses of the beautiful Gippsland region certainly makes for a wonderful setting too.

The Cowboy is a lovely start to a very fun series from Tule.

Note: The publisher provided me with an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for a review.

Though it is Book 1 in the Hot Aussie Heroes series, I actually read it last. The story can stand alone, so reading it out of order didn't affect my enjoyment of the story.
Carina came to Australia from her busy life in New York, looking for the amazing resort her assistant booked for her. Beautiful resort, pool, swim up bar, relaxation...and a relationship workshop on top of it. Unfortunately for her, there was a slight difference in names of the resorts and she is booked down the road.

This is a cute, quick fish-out-of-water read with a truly rugged hero. Carina is a city-slicker looking for an isolated retreat, while Jake’s just trying to keep his farm. If you like this sort of book, then you’ll know exactly what to expect. There are no surprises here, just a sweet opposites attract romance with a couple of fun moments at the city-dweller’s expense.

I think the author did rather too good a job with Carina’s culture shock. She’s abrasive and verging on rude at the beginning, th

Carina Chapman was on her way to a relaxing resort in the land down under, there's just one problem, her assistant booked her to the wrong resort.

Jake Richardson is trying to save is family ranch, so when it's proposed he turns it into a resort he does just that. There's just one problem, okay maybe a lot of problems; he has no idea how to run a resort and everything that could malfunction is malfunctioning, just before his very first client arrives, not to mention things need to be ready for th

The Cowboy Jake Richardson maybe at home in his Australian outback, but the city slick Carina Chapman is way out of her league in his territory, and so was I.

Book one in the Hot Aussie Heroes; “The Cowboy” unfortunately just did not ride my senses. Jake wants to diversify into tourism to keep his lands, and he’s struggling to get it all together. Carina ends up at his work in progress resort, as a result of a wrong booking by her assistant.

If I really think about it, the premise of the story i

This is the first in the Hot Aussi Heroes series and introduces us to Carina, a city slicker from New York and her host Jack who is a cowboy (big surprise there).

Jack is trying to save the farm in rural Victoria and has opened it up as a getting back to nature resort. Unfortunately it has a similar name to the upmarket resort next door and Carina's assistant stuffs up the bookings.

This is a very sweet story but at times the physical attraction between them seems forced, overlaid onto the sweet r

The story has such a delightful humorist way to describe how things are going in this recently opened 'resort' with Jake's first guest, making it nearly into a tragicomedy. Jake is a down to earth, handsome, farmer, down on his luck and trying to save his farm by opening it for the tourist, as a resort. He is willing and able to go the extra mile to make Carina happy, with genius ways to fulfill her vacation fantasies of a spa, swimming pool with a bar etc.
Carina comes off as a spoiled diva at t

This is a short read about a girl named Carina from New York. Her assistant makes her reservations in Australia but once she reaches her destination she is tired and reading to hit the hay and relax, only to be thrown out of the hotel. By some mistakes she ends up at the wrong resort and everything only gets interesting from there. Jake on the other hand is working really hard to get his “resort” ready only to be faced with one thing after another going wrong. When low and behold Carina shows up ...more

I love books set in the land of Oz, and this book was "OK". It was a nice, light reading experience, and, yeah, I loved Jake. Ree went from being an over-achieving, uptight New Yorker a little too quickly to relaxed to be believable, and it's a little hard to believe a guy would try to open a resort with absolutely no planning and no staff. Despite the name of the series there is no "hot" sex, which was a little relaxing for a change, kinda PG rated. An enjoyable story, but a little sha

Carina Chapman wanted to be pampered, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Her reservation was not for the luxury resort, but the cattle station up the road. This can't be happening. When she finally arrives at her accommodations, she meets Jake Richardson. He's the owner of Barcoo Creek Bush Resort. He's had some hard knocks and is trying to save his land by taking in guests. The Cowboy, Hot Aussie Heroes Book 1, is a cute mistaken resort romance. Talk about a vacation gone wrong! I could only wish my worst vacations had turned out as well. Margareta Osborn’s Jake Richardson is one tough rancher thrown into the tourism business as he tries to save his family ranch. It seems as if he is learning as he goes and the learning curve is huge.
