Loving Amari: A Dark Paranormal Romance

Rate this book
She's ascending to goddess. He's breaking without her. And an ancient enemy is coming for everything they love.
Carla Blackwood is Queen of Limbo, but ruling the realm of lost souls isn't enough to stop what's coming. Nathaniel, a vengeful spirit with stolen Blackwood magic, is building an army to destroy Wintermoon. His target? Baby Solomon. His weapon? Possessed shifter children. His ally? Henry, the man who's been hiding in the shadows of Brookstone and Blackburn.

Mother Fate offers Carla a terrible ascend to Guardian of Realms and gain the power to stop Nathaniel, or watch her family burn. The catch? Ascending means leaving the living world behind, bound to limbo. It means endless separation from Amari, the vampire mate whose love has become her anchor.

Three days apart nearly destroyed them both. How will they survive eternity?

Amari is a man on the edge. Centuries old, and he's never felt this helpless. He can break any code, hack any system, but he can't protect Carla from her destiny. As she grows more powerful, more ethereal, more distant, he's forced to watch the woman he loves slip away one pink-glowing moment at a time.

But Amari didn't survive all this time by giving up. And Carla didn't become Queen of Limbo by backing down from impossible choices.

Together, they'll face vengeful spirits, corporate conspiracies, and fate itself. They'll build weapons and cast spells. They'll sacrifice everything to protect their spider children and the family they've chosen.

Because some loves are worth fighting for. Even when the battle is against destiny itself.

An extended epilogue filled with magic, sacrifice, and a love that refuses to break.

I enjoyed this book so much more than Craving Carla. Not sure what it was about it that just was more entertaining to me.

As a couple they don't really interest me, the author failed to make me care for the as individuals. Plus they purposefully keep themselves apart from the rest of Wintermoon. I actually enjoy reading of the different groups interacting together. Not even Angie or Anora who are her family actually hang out with her. I would of loved to have seen her make friends.

I skipped all the sex scene. Part of me kept thinking there is so much more to this story than them having sex multiple times a day. They had more sex than they had discussions. Since I don't care for them as a couple it was just meh and uninteresting to read.

Overall, I like the updates to the story, them fighting Brookstone and Blackburn. Also to see how they integrating technology into Wintermoon. The one thing I agree with Amari about from book 1 was them hiding in Wintermoon isn't helping. They need yo take the fight to the radicals or the radicals will come to them.

I still feel the shifter stories were way better than the vampire ones. I can't wait to read about the academy series and hopefully we get to finally read what happened to the witches at the Witching Glen since black magic was destroyed. We've seen it mentioned in a few books but no actual update.

I hope with Carla having to build a coven we will finally see Angie take some responsibility and get the witches sorted. I would love to read about them finding their mates and continue to see how the residents of Wintermoon keep rebuilding their lives.

Carla!!!!

Wow, Carla is going through it!!! Dealing with the Limbo Realm, Aya, and a new foe. Trying to balance Amari, her children, and home. What's a girl to do.
This book had me yelling at the characters, crying, raising my eyebrows, and laughing. It's worth taking time to read.

Carla has proven to be the most dedicated and worthy witch; and her love for Amari has her making difficult choices.
Seeing Amari breaking apart, missing Carla evokes all kinds of feelings. You feel the love these two have for one another and their family.
This book has a good storyline, characters, action, and a strengthening of Amari and Carla's bond.

And.....
I learned something about Angie. She may be b*tchy but this book helps you get a better understanding of her.
Anora, still crazy lol.
Aya, wow.

Lovely Arc

I enjoyed the nuances and complexities of each character, especially in regards to their outlook on the world and different people. Watching the strain of Amari's and Carla's relationship was deeply moving. I really enjoyed the domesticity of their unconventional family. It's nice to see many characters interacting and supporting each other.

Some of the paragraphs for their love scenes seem to be either repeated and or misplaced and other love scenes. There were also some punctuation (dialogue quotes ") issues and a floating letter at the end of a paragraph at one point. This could go through another editing process just to clean up those few little errors and typos.

Tessa Stone did not ease us into this sequel — she tossed us straight into Wintermoon chaos and told us to swim.

Amari (Moorish vampire) + Carla (Blackwood witch & Queen of Limbo) are trying to balance love, leadership, and magic that refuses to calm down. Carla’s ascension storyline? Stressful. Powerful. Emotional. And full of sacrifices that had me staring at the wall like, “Wow… okay.”

The worldbuilding is rich, the romance is intense, and the spice? Absolutely a threat.
TW: graphic sex, magical violence, body horror (spiders), emotional manipulation, dark themes.

A dark, grown, beautifully chaotic Black paranormal romance.

Aya is Taking It!

Aya Bailey! That’s it, that’s all. When I tell you that I LOVE her character! Where Angie and Anora continue to test my nerves, Aya has shown so much growth and character development. She’s funny, witty, snarky, yet vulnerable, realizing the error of her ways after having her dark magic taken away from her. I really enjoyed the other aspects of this book, like Amari and Carla trying to balance time with each other, and even the continued lore between Torin, Nala, and Aaron, but before this series is over, I REALLY hope we get a book for Aya.

Tessa never misses. 4.25 ⭐️

Circled back

I initially skipped this book in the vampire tales portion of the Wintermoon series, because honestly, I’ve found that when Tessa Stone does a second book about a couple, it’s not as interesting as the first book. However, I thought I needed to read this in order to be ready for the Blackwood series that is coming.

Overall, it was OK. Amari & Carla are characters we already know - dealing with how to balance their new life together. It held my interest somewhat and did fill in a few gaps I had noticed from books set later in the chronology. I would rate the heat level at medium high.

Carla said bump limbo

This was another great read by Tessa S. I love how her books are joint together and continues to the next, so they all make sense.
I felt for Amari when Carla went to limbo (for how long ? I don’t know 🤷🏾‍♀️ ) but I know for him it felt like a decade. But mother fate stood on what she said (her rules) you can’t take a mate from a mate.
I can understand why Carla was in balance when it came to her job duties as a Goddess and being Amari mate, it’s hard to leave the one you love 💕
Waiting for Tessa S. Next book 📕

Carla and Amari are everything

This book brought me to tears. Such a beautiful love story. I was mad at Mother Fate at first like seriously you could give them a break! But Carla’s ascending to goddess was everything. She’s grown so much from the first book. She’s sure of herself. And Aya has fully redeemed herself. Anora… whew I am scared of her. I cannot wait to see how the Blackwood coven unfolds

Tessa you've done it again

Whew what a ride this was, this follow -up was so emotional and riveting I couldn't put it down and wished it was lengthier. Glad to see Carla reach her goddess status and find the balance to be with her man and her family. Can't wait to read about Bobby I just know I'm gonna be all in for him n his mates part of this Vampire journey though Wintermoon. Kudos to the author well done.

Loving Amari was such a beautiful deepening of Carla and Amari’s journey. Between the dangers facing the Wintermoon children, the threats against baby Solomon, and Carla having to stay in Limbo for long periods after her ascension. Their bond was tested in so many ways. Yet, their love remained strong through it all. Another fantastic addition to the Wintermoon Fated Mates world.

Wonderful job, Tessa Stone!

Just finished Loving Amari, and BABY… this book had me tearing up for real. Carla’s story is officially my favorite in the entire Wintermoon series.
Amari melts my heart every time he’s with Carla and their babies—pure tenderness.
And when Carla got her payback with Tofi? CHEF’S. KISS.
My emotions are still recovering.

This was a good book and a great pick up from the first one. I really like this. I really like that Carla was able to come into her power. I really love love love that she is a goddess and is above the world she’s in. I’m glad they was able to keep their mate bound and in fact have their mate bond be even stronger I love this book really giving it a five out of five.
