Such a beautiful world and poetically written! What a debut book for Kaiti!

I felt like I was sucked into this book, Kaitis writing is so detailed and beautiful that you cant help but be immersed. The world was magical and full of unique creatures. I was absolutely bamboozled with the mid story plot twist, it had me wanting to throw by kindle but also I had to continue reading to know what would happen next. This book is such a great set up for the series, with prophecies and premonitions of the future you truly don't know whats going to happen to these characters but you know it's going to be an adventure. My heart broke with that ending!

Song of the Stars is an immersive romantasy read that will give you all the feels with a side dose of female empowerment and self discovery.

"It was then I began to understand: true strength isn’t found in the echoes of others' words, but in the voice that rises from within. A female’s greatest power lies in her ability to realize she has been whole all along. Complete, worthy, and capable of standing tall on her own."

Kit is just your average nymph living a regular life until fate decides to step in and throw her into a prophecy that is set to change the realm. When she sets off on a journey to learn more about her part in the prophecy and what fate may have in store for the future, she experiences new magic powers, betrayal, self discovery and a super yummy MMC love interest that will make you swoon.

I am all in on the cinnamon roll MMC! He sweet and supportive yet also strong and snarky - the perfect blend of a little bit of ego, some humor, and being a good guy.

“You’re stronger than you think,” he said quietly, his thumb tracing small, soothing circles on my skin. “And I’ll remind you of that as many times as it takes.”

The plot twists kept things interesting and were not predictable, and the detailed world and character building had me seeing clear images of what was going on, in my head. Kaiti Mills has an amazingly immersive writing style that is descriptive and fluid that kept the story moving and definitely kept me engaged and turning the page.

It did get a little repetative at times with people constantly telling Kit that she is stronger than she thinks. The ending felt a little rushed compared to the detail we had in the rest of the book. The cliffhanger was a good one, but was what I expected would happen. With all of that said, this is a strong debut novel and I will continue on with the series to see what happens next!

Thank you to Kaiti Mills for an ARC copy of Song of the Stars.

This was such a wonderful, well written fantasy romance debut.
I fell in love with this lush, gorgeously built world that Kaiti has created. The story is layered beautifully with rich detail of the histories and politics of the fae in Andarnia, as well as creatures from welsh lore that really fit the setting of this world perfectly. The imagery was so beautifully immersive and vivid throughout the story and it really has a bit of a fairytale vibe that really transports you to another realm.
The story takes us on an adventure to solve an ancient prophecy foretelling A Chosen Fae that will save Andarnia and reunite the realms in peace against The Hollow King. I was surprise by the character depth and dimension in each of Kit’s companions on this journey, and loved the found family dynamic that plays out with everyone.
The slow burn romance was so sweet and perfect and I just loved a certain fae in this story so much, swoon.
The twists kept me on the edge of my seat and I was absolutely floored by the ending, I need book 2!

I truly enjoyed this book for its poetic yet easy-to-understand writing style, which gave the story a beautiful rhythm without ever feeling confusing. The flow of the story pulled me in from the very beginning, and the whimsical details scattered throughout made the world feel vivid and enchanted. I loved how Welsh lore was woven into the plot, adding depth and a sense of ancient magic that enriched every chapter. The love between family and friends felt genuine and heartfelt, and I really enjoyed the character growth of our FMC, Kit. The plot twists! Eeee! And you just know I love a book with unique magical creatures! By the end, I found myself completely invested—and the cliffhanger, along with the teaser for the next book, has me genuinely excited to find out what happens next. Fantastic debut novel!!

In this heartwarming fantasy series we meet our main character Kit. Kit will speak to your soul from page one if you’ve ever felt like an overlooked and underwhelming side character in the story of your own life, with no impressive talents or stand out qualities.

Along this journey a prophecy is unlocked, and Kit starts to unlock her true purpose and power and even more than that, the knowledge that it existed in her all along. She goes on a hero’s journey, a quest to unlock her destiny, with a crew of trusted family and friends, and a few new intriguing allies, who burrow into her heart quick, despite her strong impenetrable walls.

The realm is at war, the threat of the evil and twisted Hollow king is real, and Kit may be the only one with power enough to save everyone, if she can only believe in herself enough, and rest in the knowledge that she is not alone.

The setting and magical creatures in this tale are so immersive and detailed and beautiful that you will be pulled into a mystical, colorful world, the likes of which would your childhood enthrallment with animated Disney fairy realms can’t even begin to compete with.

But as this isn’t a child’s tale, it comes with so much more than dazzling worlds and enchanting magic. There is darkness, royal court politics, unbelievable betrayal and sinister tricks, in addition to simmering romance and high stakes sacrifice.

This epic adventure has a little bit of everything and will have you cheering along a heroine who begins to see her own worth and must endure a bit of a trial by fire as she has no time for preparation of the role she is thrust into.

I laughed, I cried, I swooned. My jaw hit the floor at multiple points from twists I did not see coming and sometimes my anger boiled. But all that to say, I can’t wait to come back to this story and revisit all the emotions it evokes.

This author has an immense talent and makes you feel a part of the story, and there is no greater compliment for a fantasy writer than that.

Song of the Stars
By Kaiti Mills

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An enchanting start to what promises to be a compelling new Fae fantasy series!
Song of the Stars introduces us to Kit Rivermoor, an "overlooked fae" living in the shadow of her what seems more important siblings. I really appreciated the relatable feeling of being "less than" or overlooked, which made Kit an instantly sympathetic character. Her world is vibrant and full of political intrigue, with glittering cities and ancient rivalries that set a fantastic backdrop for her journey.
The pacing was good; the story picks up quickly when a forgotten prophecy forces Kit out of her quiet life and into a quest across the lands of Andarnia. The gradual awakening of her own "star-bound magic" was a highlight for me—it's a classic chosen-one trope, but executed with a fresh sense of wonder and personal discovery. The hints of a fated connection and a bond that could shape the realm's future definitely kept me turning the pages.
This is the first book in a series. I only hope that Mills doesn’t make us wait too long for the other installments. If you are a fan of fae lore, slow-burn magic, and characters who rise against expectations, you should add this to your TBR. PRONTO! I can't wait to see where Kit's journey goes next!

10/10 would recommend this book to family and friends.

Wow I finished Song Of The Stars a little while ago and need time to process. This book was so good it was like watching a movie in my mind. The way the author's attention to detail painted a perfect picture for me to follow. It was fluid both beautiful and painful twisting together tangling tightly around itself like a teathered cord yanking at my heart. I keep replaying it over and over in my mind. I was looking left when I should have looked right
i was thrown off guard blindsided. My heart shattered into a million pieces and I was like noooooo furiously wiping the tears streaming down my face and I had to pick up the pieces off the floor. Why would he do that to her? But there were so many good and funny parts too.

My favorite quotes were but not limited to:
"You're a badass buttercup I like it very you, defying expectations one ruffle at a time."

"what exactly am I supposed to do in the face of a world-end-ing threat throw flowers at it ?"

"I didn't feel inclined to share anything personal in the presence of Lord Buttkiss or whatever his stupid name was."

I am wholeheartedly looking forward to more from these characters this is not the end. A riveting must read.

What a beautifully written debut book!

I enjoyed following along with our FMC as she learned the truth about who and what she was. I thought the found family she had with her brother and friends was relatable and touching. I liked the potential love interests and loved the various twists and turns we were faced along the way.

This brought on good plot and pacing and kept me interested in where we were going next and how we would get there. I look forward to reading more!

**3.5 STARS**

Content Warning: kidnapping

I came across this indie author on TikTok, I saw her promoting her book and it was the book cover that caught my eye. It published earlier this month (December) and was available on kindle unlimited so I decided to read it.

It starts off promising and I think if you are the type of reader who likes quests, a prophecy, a girl with special powers without knowing what it is, and who is the chosen one to save the world, then you will enjoy this. I do enjoy these tropes but I also like to see a little hardship for the FMC and outside of feeling overlooked, I didn’t feel like Kit has gone through much to make her be the chosen one, but I guess the stars know what they want. Kit being told she was special without knowing why was very repetitive throughout the book so it took me out of the story. It’s a long book so I did pause reading this halfway through because of it being repetitive.

I did read it again after a week and I’m happy to say it picks up at the halfway mark.

Kit as a character is a spitfire and she definitely could hold her own with her brother and his friends. It was nice to see her grow into her power and confidence. But I felt at times she was inexperienced and not battle tested but thrust into a leadership role. Of course she won’t be able to rule alone, but throughout the story it just feels like it’s all on her. She travels with a group of people but I feel like outside of Bastian, we don’t get to really know everyone else very well. I wanted to see her bond more with her brother since he left his bride’s side right away to help Kit.

There are some twists and betrayals in the story and I thought the gemstone/stars magic was interesting and would like to learn more about it.

As for the romance, let’s just say I’m glad it ended up the way it did by the end of the book. It’s a sweet, growing romance and I love Bastian, who is supportive and protective but allows her space to grow.

Final Thoughts:

For a debut, indie novel, I thought this was well written. It was a little too long for me and repetitive at times but I did enjoy the second half of the book. The romance was sweet and even if I didn’t feel like I connected with Kit at times, I think Bastian was amazing. There is adventure, prophecy, and a girl who is chosen to save the world.

•A sweet, heart-warming fantasy•

4.5 ⭐️

Song of the Stars has everything you want in a great fantasy book- unique magic, sweeping world building, kind-hearted and strong main characters, and villains you love to hate.

It is the first in the author’s Starfire Series, and it is full of the type of adventure and magical settings only fantasy can give. I loved the development of Kit, the FMC, throughout the story. Kit finds her strength with the help from several friends and family members who drop everything to be by her side, and I look forward to seeing more of this strength and connection build in the next book.

There were so many moments in this book where I stopped and thought, that was so incredibly sweet. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters.

A fav quote:

“The stars have chosen you not because you are perfect, but because you inspire hope in others. That is your greatest strength, and it is something no evil can conquer.”

All in all, I enjoyed this book immensely, and I think you will, too!
I thank Kaiti Mills for sharing an ARC of her book. All opinions are my own.

This has me so excited for the second book, and also low-key wanting to make a cosplay. I’m a sucker for high fantasy and the fae and boy did it not disappoint. The.... adult scenes took me somewhat by surprise. I loved Kit, she’s a great main character and an absolute icon. I can’t say what BUT I CALLED IT. The battle was a minor letdown but I was well compensated via having my feelings hurt. Horribly disappointed i didn’t get any golden retreiver men I can (respectfully) pine for instead of texting my ex cause all the soft romance scenes made me lonely and honestly a little petty. We get it, you’re happy 😒. Gotta say, I predicted the first twist. Had me smug and thinking I’ve won trope awareness when Eli was revealed to be evil. before I got hit by a truck, repeatedly (but in the best way) I did NOT see bastian being prince coming, i fell for the 'oh he's just a kinda funny side character with a crush on kit' charade. Shara is iconic.

4.5 stars for this debut novel.

This is an immersive read that has a mid-story twist that totally got me! Our FMC is a sassy character who grows on you throughout the book, with strong family ties that melt your heart, and a horse best friend you want as your own. There are mythical creatures, a quest, and more magic to come. If you are looking for a descriptive read that is character-driven, then here is one to add to your TBR.

Song of the Stars by an astronomer

Great introduction to a new magical world. The refreshing tone and plot are unrestricted by logic, physics, or mathematics. A good relaxing read that occasionally kicks you in the ass if you make conventional assumptions on the plot or characters. I am looking forward to continuations and expansions of the series.
