- series - grumpy/sunshine - found family - fated mates
I absolutely love this series. Each can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the series because each book is a delight to read. I'm a total sucker for grumpy/sunshine, and add in a dash of fated mates and I'm so there. Nobody is more sunshine than Peri, the fairy is sunshine personified and Wash is the titular demon, a grumpy workaholic who trusts nobody. Peri is honestly adorable and I am not surprised that Wash couldn't resist him, I don't think anyone could.
While this story is certainly Wash and Peri's road to their HEA, it's also about found family and reconnecting with the family you were born with. Wash and Elijah's story was hinted at in Elijah's book but I was more than happy to see it all resolved here. I loved the cameos from the other couples in the series too, they were all neatly fitted in and never felt shoe horned into the story. This is HIGH heat ♨️, these two are absolute fire together and it fitted for them. I was glad the little angst there is was resolved quickly and beautifully leading to a lovely ending and very satisfying HEA.
There's a little teaser that there might be more and if so, I am down for that. I love this series and would be more than happy to step back into the Charmed Away world. Highly recommended.
Absolutely delightful! This is my favourite of this series (so far) I love a grumpy/sunshine trope and Perri and Wash were so good for each other, they made my teeth ache from sweetness. I loved the easy premise, each of the characters had their hold backs, but it wasn’t overwhelming. There was lightness in this book and so much joy and positivity. I liked all cameos from previous books, there was good found family vibe.
I looved it so much. Peri and Wash were so cute. And all the cameos, Elijah and Wash, the retreat 😂❤️, the ceremony... My fav series by this author so far... 🥰❤️ But my favorite volume is and remains the fifth with Elijah and Alistair 🙃❤️
Grumpy/ sunshine pairings are my favourite and these two embodied those roles 100%. Peri is just a giant ball of sunshine whose mission in life is to make everyone around him happy in the sweetest way possible. Wash has been hurt and rejected soo much that hes locked himself away from everyone. Peri is the perfect person to get wash out of his shell and living again. I just love the cuteness of these two and really enjoyed their story. I love this series and recommend reading the whole series in order to enjoy the story more but they can be read on their own. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Here's Amy Padilla's "The Demon's Attendant" is the sixth novel in her latest series, Charmed Away Temp Agency.

I looooved these two. They were opposites attract, but it was instant chemistry, instant attraction. It was beautiful.
They took care of each other, listened to each other, protected each other. They made each other stronger. They made each other better.
Plus all of the cameos and old couples coming back!? The retreat idea was a brilliant way to capture our love of the entire series in an easy and fun way.
This is the sixth book in the Charmed Away Temp Agency series. While it can be enjoyed as a standalone read, I think you would get way more out of it if you read the series in order. What an amazing book! Each time I think this series can't get any better, the author proves me wrong. I absolutely loved this book! As I have a soft spot for grumpy/sunshine stories, I was in heaven. This is the story of Wash and Peri. Wash is a demon, who as head researcher, is in charge of the research section of the company. He is a little vertically challenged and has a resting grump face. While the outside is foreboding, inside is a heart of gold. He works hard to help all other magical beings have a safer and happier life. Life has taught him the hard lesson of keeping people away as they just push him away or leave. Peri is a fairy and works for Charmed Away Temp Agency. Since he is young and doesn't know what he wants to do for the rest of his life, he is enjoying working in different jobs while he finds the perfect one for him. Happy, bubbly and upbeat; Peri is sunshine personified. He feels things deeply and wears his heart on his sleeve. Brightening people's day just makes him happy. And he is looking forward to working in the research department. Especially if he can brighten up Wash's day. He just can't seem to stay away from him. This is their story. The book is very well written. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. I loved watching the interaction between Wash and Peri. Wash didn't know what to do with honest kindness being showered upon him by Peri. With each interaction, the two of them slowly built up a rapport and relationship. It was great to see Wash finally happy. And it was nice that Peri found someone who understood and supported him. That didn't think he was too much. They made a perfect couple. I may have mentioned that I absolutely loved this book but it is worth mentioning again. I look forward to the next book by this author.
Wash is fed up with upper management meddling in his personal life, so when they send a new temp to “assist” him, he’s determined to ignore the intrusion. But Peri — sweet, sunny, and armed with irresistible smiles and snacks — refuses to be ignored. Despite Wash’s grumpy resistance, Peri keeps showing up, genuinely wanting to help. Peri never expected to meet his match on a temp assignment, but the overworked, overprotective demon quickly steals his attention. When Taron asks Peri to help Wash relax, he jumps at the chance — and maybe at the chance to claim the demon he’s already falling for. A grumpy‑meets‑sweet romance full of workplace chaos, meddling friends, and two men who can’t seem to stay away from each other.
Wash and Peri are the perfect study in contrasts — and that’s exactly what makes their romance so irresistible. Wash is all grumpy edges, overworked intensity, and stubborn independence, while Peri is sunshine in humanoid form, armed with sweets, warmth, and a determination to help whether Wash wants it or not. Watching those two energies collide and then settle into something tender is pure joy. Their differences don’t push them apart; they balance each other beautifully. Peri brings lightness into Wash’s life just when he needs it most, and Wash gives Peri the grounding and devotion he’s been craving. Together, they feel like two puzzle pieces that were always meant to click. A charming, funny, and heartfelt addition to the series — and a reminder that sometimes the person who seems all wrong for you ends up being exactly right. This was an MM story with mature content.
I really enjoyed this! I feel like the last two books have gotten back (at least for the most part) to all the things that I loved about the first book - awesome characters, interesting office romances and supportive friends and family/found family. The only thing I'd still say I'm not 100% on board with is that there's a tendency to assume the worst and go straight to aggression/chastising without actually knowing what's happening. It only happened once in this book and I'm glad for that because Wash might be a grump but he is not a bully. There was a third act break-up that was the result of overhearing something/assuming the worst but it actually made complete sense given the plot (and was an effective tool to help with another plot point). I'm not always a fan of third act break-ups as they often feel contrived; however, this really worked and made sense in terms of the story as a whole. Wash had a lot of really long-standing trauma in terms of betrayal/abandonment/rejection/bullying and he needed to be able to work through some of that to be able to have a truly open and strong relationship with Peri. Peri is a total sweetheart and I love that he adores Taron just as he is (Taron is my baby and I am still angry about how he has been treated). The openness and joy that Peri embodies was a great match to Wash's more reserved and slightly cynical view of people. I'm really glad that we're getting to see the characters (at least for the most part) actually come together to support each other and build up the amazing found family they have. I'm looking forward to whatever is next!
I've adored all the books in this series and now, we get Peri and Wash who are just wonderfully gorgeous. This truly is a grumpy/sunshine, hurt/comfort story that made me beam. Peri is a bundle of joy, rainbows and love, completely adorable and absolutely charming, and a sensitive soul too. Wash is a workaholic with nothing in his life, apart from an estranged brother and now, an unexpected fascination with the new temp, a little fairy that bewitches him. Seeing Peri charm everyone just by being himself, and watching him fall in love with Wash, was such a lovely read but Wash's transformation was even more rewarding. He couldn't help but come out of his shell, smiling at his social butterfly fairy whose delight in everything was contagious. Just seeing Peri happy made Wash happy. There is quite a bit of interaction with all the familiar faces from the previous books, and it was great to see them all again. They all feel like family now, to each other and to me. I love a good found family story. Each romance in this series was so good but Peri really lit up the pages, and he and Wash were the steamiest couple of all. Their bond ran so deep and I loved how Amy chose to represent their status as mates in a unique, and perfectly suited to them, way. I don't know if this is the end of the series but the last couple of pages of the epilogue was intriguing. Can't wait to see where that leads.
Is this it? Is this the last Charmed Away Temp Agency?
Hugo/Wash has intrigued me for awhile now. I can’t remember when he first appeared, maybe Taron’s book? Wash is a grumpy demon, he’s a twin, and he’s quite the introvert. He always stood out among the friends as a part but not quite a part of the group. For me, I wondered what made him the demon he is? Especially after reading Elijah’s story. So much miscommunication!
Peri is the perfect match for Wash. He is sunshine personified. As a member of Charmed Away, he immediately fits into the group. He is friendly and really extroverted. When he meets Wash, Peri just knows he’s the demon for him.
Oh, I just loved this story!! Grumpy/sunshine is my most favorite type of storyline with found family being just behind. That’s what I have loved most about this series. Ozen and Taron created their own family with the company and all of their friends. Wash needed that family to support him even when he didn’t realize that they did. With Peri and Wash, their mating was just there from the start. This book tied up the twins story so well. I didn’t know how much I even needed them to figure out their miscommunication until they did. It made me feel so good. I never want a series to end, but if this is the end it ends on the highest note ever. Even with the stranger at the end!
4.5 stars! I just adore this series so much, and Peri was an absolute delight! Grumpy x Sunshine is always a winner for me, and these two were absolutely wonderful together. 😍 My only quibble, and the reason it's not a solid five stars, is the trope, which has got to be the absolute biggest letdown of any romance ever whenever it's used, seeming to come out of left field for this one when So, even though I could follow the story logic, the emotional impact felt really contrived. 🫤 But despite that, the story was still absolutely delightful and I completely adored both of them... and especially appreciated the hint at the very end that there might be another Supe to be interested in, and therefore another book in the making the series 🙏✨📚🥳🥰
I really wanted to read Elijah's brother story to finally see them rebuilding their brotherhood and I felt somewhat disappointed in how it was treated in the book, that's the reason for not rating 5 stars. Throughout the book Elijah is very important to Wash, but when he tries to close the gap between them, Wash is the one keeping his distance and distrusting his brother again and again at the same time blaming Elijah attitude to him for not being closer. It's Peri the one to force Wash to accept Elijah's and his anchor apertures of friendship and there's a lot in Wash's heart and mind that is never told to Elijah. Everything else in the book is amazing. Truly. I particularly liked how Taron grows like a fungus in Wash life, to the point to wanting to really befriend him and his mates. Peri was perfectly written, he behaved in a very realistic way in how he navigate being ordered to befriend Wash after meeting and liking him before. Peri is the sunshine for Wash and when he feels betrayed you can feel how his life is cold and dark again. Same when he works through those feelings and accepts Peri again, you almost see the light going back. I highly recommend this book or any in the series!
Sixth in series (The Charmed Away Temp Agency), best if read in order. Paranormal. Coworkers. Grumpy/sunshine. Hurt/comfort. Found family. Dual POV.
Peri’s new temp job has him crossing paths with a grumpy demon researcher that really needs help with his work-life balance. Wash doesn’t trust easily, but the always cheerful, slightly horny, and super empathic fairy might just be the person to break down his walls.
This story has a true grumpy/sunshine dynamic with all the feels. Wash is a protective demon that’s had a difficult past but a good heart and Peri is everything kind, generous and joyful, and I really enjoyed every moment they were on page together. There are plenty of caring friends and family to surround the sweetness of Peri and Wash, with an equal amount of steam between these two meant-to-be mates. I personally like an emotional character that deserves all the HEA when they find that special someone that gets them in every way. Another terrific addition to this fun and fantastic series. 4.5 rounded up
thoughts n feelings: -GREAT addition to the series, everything i wanted it to be after Elijah's book previously -- I rly felt like the series kinda lulled around book 4 but we are so back -Wash/Peri were so fucking cute together I am obsessed with them -I didn't love the third act conflict ...i think there was a better way to emphasize that Wash has some serious trust issues he needed to work through without doing it the way it was done but im not like MAD about it -my one thing about this series is i'm pretty sure all the books are supposed to be "written" by the main character of book 1 (Avery), but after the first book that aspect kinda just started to get weird. like it's one thing to write a romance about your own story, but if the rest of the books are about your friends/coworkers isn't it kinda weird to be writing smut about them when ur now a famous author?? and also revealing their secret business and shit? idk like that would make ME uncomfortable
So many feels mannnnnnnnnn. I absolutely adore this book. I literally was tearing up in parts and LOL in others. Periwinkle and Wash was such a wonderful match. Peri was just the right person to come into Wash's life...to put some sunshine into his life. He absolutely needed it. So many wonderful things happened in this book. Just a little angsty with the miscommunication between the characters. Please note you would enjoy this book a lot if you read the book before this one at least. I will say I read all the books but one...Talon's romance. I just don't do throuples well, so I skipped that one but it didn't take away my enjoyment of this series. Book 6 is up at the top of the list of being my absolute favorite in this series...i think it has everything to do with Peri. He's the best. I loved his love journey with Wash and I highly recommend if you wanna cry and laugh while reading...LOL
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I FLUFFING LOVE! these books. I realized while reading this one that Taron was totally giving me (Alistair Hellhound Extraordinaire™️) vibes to unintentionally set off Wash’s (Demon Gideon™️) demon vibes, and now I just remembered that Joel Leslie narrates both series and I can’t wait for the rest of this series to be released on audible so I can binge-listen and get my super-freaking-awesome-author-written paranormal fix and also because I didn’t/don’t have time to re-read the series before starting a new book and even though it’s only been a few months I’ve forgotten most of what happened in previous books and need a binge sesh.
Highly recommend. These can totally be read as stand-alones but are so much better devoured in series order.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. I also purchased a forever copy but have zero chill and had to read it before it was released.
Wash and Peri story was quite emotional, with a fairy and demon pairing encapsulating the grumpy – sunshine perfectly. There’s shenanigans, lots of teasing, and a bit of heartache caused by miscommunication and misunderstanding. There were a couple of concepts that I totally adored and enjoyed, as well as the team effort to prepare the best and considerate surprises. I adored Peri's energy, his sweets, as well as the way he shows his love. I liked how Wash changes under Peri's care and love, as well as his group of friends that came as a surprise for him. There were also some intriguing developments and characters that hope to see more in the future. I enjoyed the read, and I’m looking forward for the future adventures.
Another absolute winner in the Charmed Away Temp Agency series! I love the entire series as a whole, and this story, in particular, is one of my favorites within this universe. Periwinkle is totally adorable, and how can you not love him? Wash got a bad rep based on assumptions, and to protect himself, he ran with it. He's an introverted squish, kinda like the author claims of herself (though, I'm sure she's not as grumpy as Wash) He's a big cinnamon roll with a tender heart and fierce protective instincts toward those he loves. The two of them together, as well as the whole Spellbound crew - especially Taron - make for a fun and quite entertaining, educational, and interesting romantic adventure. I can't wait to read more.
Another helping of fun from Charmed Away Temp Agency
This is the latest offering in the Charmed Away Temp Agency series. In this one, Hugo (twin brother of Elijah, the telepath) finds his mate, a flighty fairy called Peri.
This story is straightforward, we get glimpses of all our favourites from the last books (some more than others) and Taron uses his inimitable style to try and help. That doesn't go well, as if anyone is surprised!
It was lovely to be back amongst the Spellbound and Charmed Away personnel again. I hope there's going to be more and from the titbit dropped on the last page, I'm sure there will be.
This can be read as a standalone, but you would get a better understanding if you started with The Incubus' Secretary
Peri and Wash were adorable grumpy/sunshine goodness.
Peri is a sunshine temp! Pure joy, and the best kind of sweetness in a rough world! Plus they make baked goods as their love language! Wash is a grumpy inventor, with walls up from childhood trauma and miscommunication/misunderstanding from same.
I really enjoyed their connection, which while instant was also allowed to build a bit. Fated mates but we don't know that's what this is? vibes a bit. There was a hint of a third act break up (which is not my fave!) but it's understandable and resolved reasonably!
I loved seeing all our found family of former MCs, especially the retreat scenes! And it was just a nice, easy fairly low angst read.
VERY VERY LATE ARC REVIEW😫: I absolutely loved this story!!! Peri the Fairy is as adorable as I could ever hope to be! I really enjoy how Elijah and Wash’s relationship isn’t completely perfect by the end, but how the work on their communication throughout the story and realize the had they been doing it the entire time things would be different. I also appreciated how Peri had no desire to change Wash. Peri loved his grumpy demon exactly the way he was, he only wanted him to realize that he didn’t NEED to keep people at arms length. That were people in Wash’s life that cared for him and wanted him to take care of himself. How Wash never tried to change Peri from being soft and quick to tears. I really loved this story!!

Wash and Peri are so good together. Unfortunately, past issues, slights and slurs create a few problems for them. All of their interactions, both good and bad, felt believable, especially when Peri was so happy he practically floated. Peri's emotions are an open book and the reader can easily feel his highs and lows with him, while I totally understand Wash's side of things. And I loved the found family support that they get from their co-workers. It was nice that all of the previous couples made appearances. Overall, Wash and Peri's story was really well told and I would read more in this universe.
I only noted maybe half a dozen proofreading issues in the ARC.
I love love love this series. This one features Wash and Peri. Wash is in charge of the research department and brother to Elijah. Peri works for Charmed Away temp agency and gets tasked to work at Spellbound. When he gets to work, he brings along treats to give to everyone. When Peri first saw Wash he was intrigued even though his co-workers were saying he was a grump. As the days go by, Peri works his magic on Wash. I loved the progression of their romance, with Wash and Peri getting closer to finding out they were mates. Also loved how Wash and Elijah spoke and cleared the air between them. Here is hoping there is more in this world.
The Demon's Attendant is the 6th book in the Charmed Away Temp Agency series. This book can be read as a standalone but in my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Peri a fairy and Wash a demon. I love this series so much. This was such a great story with wonderful characters. This story is peppered with found and blood family. I also loved getting cameos from other couples from the series. I loved watching these two figure out their relationship. I'm looking forward to more books in this series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads. received a free review copy

My reviews are my own. If you liked this book or not, I respect your opinion. This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous. My review is honest and voluntary.
After reading previous books, at this point, it feels repetitive. Also, these are supposed to be adults, but they behave like inmature himbos. I never liked the Taron character, so since he was in this book quite a lot, I didn't enjoy it as much. I don't mind exuberant people, but I do despise people who impose themselves on others. I also despise meddling people, and these books are full of them. Cute quick read. It did make me crave sweets!!!
Another fantastic story!!! I absolutely adore this series. I love the premise and all the magical creatures in the office. I am so glad Wash finally got his HEA and Peri was the perfect partner for him. They are a typical grumpy/sunshine pairing with Wash having plenty of possessive demon moments but he was an absolute marshmallow for his mate.
Amy Padilla is such a fantastic writer and this series is full of perfect cutesy supernatural romance stories that everyone needs. A must read but definitely start at the beginning with The Incubus's Assistant.
Peri the sweet, kind, loving, helpful fairy has come to Spellbound from the Charmed Away temp agency. He's sent to work on the research floor and when he meets Wash (Hugo) he's immediately smitten. No one can hold out against Peri and that includes grumpy Wash. Peri is a ray of sunshine to Wash's grumpiness. It doesn't take even a week for Peri to win over Wash and get him to start having some fun. In the midst of falling in love a misunderstanding may pull them apart. With a lot of help from their friends and found family maybe they can work things out.
This is a really good fantasy/romance with sunshine/grumpy and found family themes. I loved Peri from page one. His happy, optimistic personality was a delight. I liked Wash and grew to love him. He has reasons for his grumpy ways and it was heartbreaking to read them. If anyone deserved to be loved unconditionally, it would be Wash. With Peri's love and help, Wash is able to repair his relationship with his brother Elijah. I loved the coworker bonding weekend. I loved having all the MCs from previous books and the office coworkers making appearances here and really bonding and supporting Peri and Wash. I especially loved the lengths their found family went to to give Wash a special Demon weekend in the epilogue. This whole series is awesome and well worth the reading. 😍
Thank you for the book; here is my honest opinion: 4.5⭐️This is such a charming series, I thoroughly enjoyed Peri and Wash together. Grumpy Sunshine is an absolute favorite trope for me. Wash is such a wonderfully prickly grump and Peri is the personification of sunshine, he is lovely. These two are an appealing blend of sweet fated mates and top notch steam. I loved getting time with the other characters from the series and especially enjoyed Wash and his brother Elijah finding a way yo heal their relationship. Loved it!
