The Shaking is actually two stories in one. The first tells the story of Brooke Merrill, a lesbian who has found Christ and left her lifestyle behind her. Unfortunately, too many people are willing to remind her where she was and too few are willing to embrace her. She keeps up her courage by reciting scripture to herself, and leaning on her relationship with a forgiving Christ. It’s hard for her, but there are victories too. She surrounds herself with others who have been rejected by humanity, ...more

Good read

I found this book to be well written and kept my attention all the way through. It gives an insight into what the world could become on day not so far off.

I've always enjoyed Céleste Perrino-Walker's novels, and this one is another winner. Set in the end times, it follows a young woman who has turned from the gay lifestyle -- not exactly a typical protagonist for a Christian novel. Likewise, her church doesn't exactly consider her a pillar. Yet it is exactly her position as an outcast that encourages her growing relationship with Christ. I suspect that most Christians will be inspired -- and challenged -- by her ability to use Scripture in any ...more

I was given a copy of "The Shaking" in exchange for an honest review. This book deals with a topic that is hard for most Christians to handle, homosexuality, and the author did a wonderful job. Though this isn't the main topic of the book, it is an important part. This story is about a young woman in the last days who finds she is in a Church that is more concerned with rules and regulations than in reaching the lost. A great story of forgiveness and grace, and finding who you are in Christ. I ...more

Very well thought out book. I love all the Scriptures used throughout the entire book. And the realization that all have sinned not one sin is worse than another.

I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway, so thank you to Goodreads, any/all sponsors, anyone else involved in the Giveaway; and last, but definitely not least, the fantastic author.

I truly enjoyed this book and admired the main character (Brooke) the most. We begin to know her as anything but a “Christian.” I believe we (as a collective people – Christian or otherwise) do not have the right to judge others. That is God’s job. Brooke is labeled and looked upon differently than others (even her

I’m drawing a line in the sand. It’s time to leave behind old, boring ideas of what Christianity is all about. It’s not sweet. It’s not prissy. And it’s certainly not boring. God is a relevant power in our lives, and yes, living His way can get messy. It can even get dangerous . . . to our pride, our arrogance, and our preconceived notions. But wouldn’t you rather live an exciting life connected ...more
