BackHomeAbroad and Other Stories is a carefully woven tapestry of short stories (mostly about the African experience on the continent and abroad) that explore themes of home, desire, belonging, identity, trauma, conflict, and culture. Hollist’s writing is rich and immersive. He effortlessly transports the reader into the world of his multi-layered characters through vivid imagery and each story’s unique voice. From the double entendres in “Underlying Condition” to the magic of imagination in “Going to America,” Hollist’s tales delight, inspire, surprise, provoke, challenge, and amuse!
