Rhianna ventures into the secret passageways and hidden tunnels of the castle in order to save her kingdom from evil in this magical continuation of the Rhianna Chronicles.
Wild Magic is loose in the kingdom, and the Queen needs Rhianna at the Castle of Avalon. But the castle is full of secret passageways and hidden tunnels, and evil is closer than anyone thinks. Rhianna doesn't know if she's ready to face the ultimate challenge of her skill. But she doesn't have much of a choice, if the kingdom is to be saved!
This one is slightly more sophisticated and intense. RL4 8-12. And it ends, but also promises more... I wish there were more!
Perfect for independent readers or families together, and good for boys too. 3.5 rounded up because they're a quick & satisfying joy to read.
The themes of finding your own path and of being courageous, honorable, and responsible are not subtly hinted at, but rather obvious, as Rhianna does have a lot to learn about her special powers and she thinks about these things. But neither are they didactic books, rather, they are full of life and adventure, and even a little mayhem, and even some humor.
Do try to solve the riddle; it's well-crafted and challenging but not impossible.
Dave Luckett is a talented craftsman, to engage so many great ideas into such small, and relatively easy, books. I would have adored them when I was a child.
My children loved these books. They have an exciting plot line that keep all the readers engaged. Some of the scary parts were a bit too scary for the younger reader. If your child has problems with nightmares, I'd have them wait til they were 7 or 8 before reading them.
In this sequel Rhianna and the Dogs of Iron, Rhianna is ask to come to the castle and help solve the mystery of the "magic sword". Rhinna finds secret passage ways, tunnels and that evil is closer than anyone thinks.
