In Willowbank, Alaska, some secrets stay buried in snow; others claw their way out.
Ruby Evans should have died out on that frozen lake. Instead, she wakes with no memory of the attack—just blood on the ice and questions no one wants to answer. Her only leads lie in two strangers with secrets of their Grayson, the brooding, Viking-eyed drifter, locked in the town station's single cell, and Thayne, the hulking recluse, hidden away in a compound at the edge of the forest.
As Ruby searches for the truth, she's pulled into a hidden world lurking beneath her own—a world of fangs, fur, and blood. The deeper she digs, the more the line between salvation and damnation blurs. When long-buried secrets are finally revealed, it won't just shatter everything she thought she knew; it'll awaken the monster she was never meant to forget.
💋 vampire MMC 💋 werewolf MMC 💋 human FMC 💋 why choose 💋 mm
This was a fun and interesting read! There are werewolves and vampires, but it's in the real world, and the humans are unaware. Ruby, the FMC, is a smart and sweet human who gets caught up in a murder mystery. From there, the Fates bring our characters together. There is some humor and spice as well.
3.5 stars: I had actually promised myself not to pick any ARCs for a bit as there are way too many books on my TBR, but when I read through the blurb, which offered a good murder mystery with a vampire and werewolf MMCs as well as a human FMC, I just could not resist. This debut novel starts off quite promising as the main character finds herself with an induced memory loss at quite a gruesome murder scene. Ruby is rather witty lady, one that alongside her position as a Deputy has a knack for fixing cars as well. Grayson is mysterious, alluring and absolutely captivating vampire, who finds himself in the midst of chaos and surprisingly having to face ghosts from the past. Thayne is the alpha of the local pack, but it appears that he has secrets of his own. This unconventional trio is entangled in a rather sinister plot, one that has more than one key player as danger is lurking in the shadows.
I really liked the first half of this book. It had a memory loss element, thought - provoking dialogues , a murder mystery to solve and of course, quite the suspense surrounding the three main characters. However, the second half turned into something else entirely and I am afraid to say that the magic from the first half of the story was gone. I guess that I did not expect such turn of events for Ruby.
Considering that this is a debut novel, I think that the author has done a good job at creating quite an interesting romantic suspense.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it had that paranormal element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the shifter element. The overall feel worked in this type of book and appreciated the use of found family. I thought the war element worked in a way to engage the reader and was everything that I was looking for and enjoyed about this type of book. Bellamy Barnes has a strong writing style and I'm excited for more from them. Bellamy Barnes was able to weave strong characters and worked well in this universe.

It has honestly taken me a while to review this book because I’m not sure how to review it.
Here’s the gist. Strong FMC running from a mysterious past (mysterious because we don’t get a lot of information until basically the end of the book). Runs into two supernaturals (our MMCs) who intrigue her - but she can’t figure out why. The plot runs thru them all coming together and fighting her past.
Did I I enjoy it? Yes. Am I lenient on my reviews? No. Would I read it again? no - but I know a lot of people will enjoy this book.
The book deviates from the typical vampire or werewolf books starting with that Our MMCs are a werewolf and a vampire. The wolves have a different up bringing and societal rules compared to other similar books I’ve read - I can see this as both a positive and a negative. But for me personally it was more of a negative. This also sets up a major problem for the FMC for the first part of the book.
It has MMF relationship. Yum. I’m torn about how they developed/fostered their relationships with the FMC tho.
The ending is explosive and has lots of activity. Definitely entertaining.
Plot for the most part was creative and definitely not a regurgitated version of everything else out there.
Side characters were fun and interesting.
Spice 3 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️
Kind of wish there was more depth and development of the relationships overall.

I’ve rated this book based on the CAWPILE method. This book averaged 4 stars.
I think it’s worthy to note that the average was .15 away from being a 5 star rating.
CHARACTERS- 9/10
I love Ruby. I love the humor that the characters share. My only complaint is that the characters personality seems to change part way through. Subtlety, but the change wasn’t my favorite.
ATMOSPHERE/SETTING- 10/10
Love the setting. The huge storms and the constant cold just set the tone for the whole book.
WRITING STYLE- 10/10
Loved the way this is written. I loved the banter, the humor, the similes that felt real and logical rather than something put in just to make it sound more flowery. Very natural flow to the wording.
PLOT- 8/10
Okay, the plot overall for me is *chefs kiss*. BUT. I feel like this would’ve been better suited to be either a 600 page book, or split up into smaller ones. If there was some flashback action from the characters, I’d love that. It would also shed a little light on character motivations and make the ending feel more put together. The first 30% to me was very unique and then the characters changed a little and the plot sped up more than I wanted and it just dragged my enjoyment down. With books like these, the lore needs to be explored instead of dumped in the readers lap, in my opinion. Also, I was completely suprised more than once with things that happened in the plot. That is so rare for me it was a nice treat for my mouth to drop open multiple times!
INTRIGUE- 8/10
Again, the first 30% was extremely intriguing but after that it lost a little of its spark. It picked back up a bit but not to 100%. The start was strong.
LOGIC/RELATIONSHIPS- 9/10
The relationships between characters is perfect. They feel like real relationships, mostly. This was a little too insta-love for me. I just need a bit more build up from my characters. By the time they come together I want to cry in relief. I want there to be angst and yearning and secrets and little voices in the back of their brain holding them back before they finally come together. I also get that it’s hard to write it like that sometimes and the characters do what they want, so I’m not judging that too harshly.
ENJOYMENT- 8/10
Overall I really enjoyed this book. It’s been a long time since I could read a book with the whole vampire/werewolf dynamic. I’m super glad it read closer to ‘Underwold’ than it did to some wattpad fan-fiction, though. Even though I really loved it, I just couldn’t give more than an 8 considering the edits I was making in my head the whole time. But, I’m very particular so don’t let that stop you from reading this! In fact I recommend this wholeheartedly! I read it in two sittings, so that should tell you something.

Bloodbane DETAILED REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶 375 Pages Released on 4th may 2025 Character Driven
TROPES 🌶Why choose 🖤spice with MFM, MM, MF, MMF 🔥Lycans, vamps, and humans 🗡Murder mystery 🌶Temp Memory loss after injury 🖤Dub con ish 🔥Trauma rep 🗡 Funny best friend
(I've never read a book with mmf or mm before, and it was actually good. It surprised me that I liked it! It was delectable written)
The book has a unique plot compared to the typical shifter books. The lore for the wolves seems to differ from the typical wolf-shifter lore. The way the pack joins/comes together, their rules, the way the alpha comes to power, and more are just some of the lore that I'm referring to.
This debut novel throws you into the action from the beginning as the FMC is being treated after being found at a gruesome murder scene. Ruby woke up with a case of memory loss, so needs to work out what happened and find all the missing pieces, even if that leads her right into the den of the wolves!
I found the middle of the book to slow down a little, only because the beginning was full of action and delicious tension, and so was the end... It's a testiment to the author, really. I may have found a possible plothole because the story mentioned unbonded females, but then didn't explore that thought, I kept thinking someone will mention oh, if we just bond the luna then that will help... but it was never brought up. I was enjoying the writing style and how the story was going, but I really wish there was more! Especially as the end was so wild - I wanted to know what happened next! How relationships developed, if there were any babies, how the best mate was getting on, if anyone changed or died after the finale.... with no spoilers - the end kinda opened up doors that were just left open, so I'm hoping for a book 2.
FINAL THOUGHTS This book has a great mixture of memory loss, thought-provoking dialogue, a murder mystery, a lot of drama, tension, yearning, and suspense. A funny best friend, a history of trauma, a strong FMC, and 2 stronger MMC's await you in this sexy as sin why choose!
⭐ 4.5/5 🌶️ 2.5/5 Whoa, BookWorld - stop for a minute and look at this book and add it to your TBR! The writing? So good! The story? Totally captivating! The humor? Perfectly timed and placed. This one’s a hidden treasure. It all kicks off in a small-town sheriff’s department investigation... but not for long. 😉 At first, I was thinking - why three POVs? But chapter by chapter, the story grabs tighter and pulls you straight into the heat of it. Up until around 40%, I was still wondering - where is this all going? How will it all connect? And then… oh my... Did someone turn the heat up in here? 🥵 Secrets unfold, emotions run high, danger closes in - and the tension? The spice? Holy berries. 😈 It’s rare that I fall for a FMC, but Ruby Evans? Star. Of. The. Show. (Ash is a close second. 😏) She’s sharp, strong, been through hell, and still keeps going - not to mention, she’s got a very healthy libido and totally owns it. I loved her. And those two tall, dangerous, beautiful men? Eirik Grayson and Thayne Smith. Stop the carriage, I need some air. 🖤 So different, yet somehow carved from the same pain and fire. And that hint of Nordic? Loved it — added just the right edge, like fate doesn’t care if you howl, bite, bleed, or burn. The characters felt like my own chaotic little family. The inner thoughts, the banter, the tension - it was all so alive. I laughed and cried (sometimes at the same time), and there were moments that straight-up stole my breath. I could go on forever about what I loved, but if I had to name one thing I missed? I wanted a bit more background on the world we’re in - where did the vamps and lycans come from? Just a little more history would’ve made the worldbuilding even stronger. I found this book accidentally and got approved for the ARC on BookSirens - and I’m so thankful! I had the best time reading it, and honestly? I wish I could read it again for the first time. 😭

“So why now am I suddenly drowning in desire for two couldn’t-be-more-different guys? Both men are off-limits. I can’t have either. I certainly can’t have both.” GIRRRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. If you like paranormal + why choose then THIS IS YOUR BOOK! Bloodbane has such good spice and it really picks up halfway through. I finished the second half in one sitting, it had me hooked!! And when I was reading the part where you find out that Thayne and Eirik had their own separate relationship before they met Ruby I literally sat up so fast! ““I see the way you look at her, Eirik. Monsters can’t feel love.” “You don’t know what you’re talking about,” I snap. “I’m the only one that knows,” Thayne murmurs. “It’s the way you used to look at me.”” AHHHHHHHHHHHH 🥰🥰 I kept wondering how Bellamy was going to make these two kiss since they seemed to dislike each other but she did it 🙈 I loved the individual relationship between Thayne and Ruby and Eirik and Ruby. Thank you Bellamy Barnes for the ARC! 🖤

Bloodbane follows Ruby as she navigates her sudden immersion into the secret world of vampires and lycans and learns she’s more intertwined in their worlds than she thought.
This was my first ever why-choose and my second omegaverse book but I thought it was really well written! Ruby was a realistic and enjoyable character and I loved her banter with Grayson and Thayne. The inter-pack lycan fight was exciting and the twists were well timed. I definitely think I’ll be revisiting omegaverse books after this one. I had never read the 'why choose' trope, with Bloodbane being the first and quite possibly not my last.
I signed up to read Bloodbane on Booksirens immediately after seeing the beautiful cover and didn't even read the synopsis, I just knew I had to give it a go.
While the vampire and werewolf triangle has been done before, I was still engaged to continue.
I love a good back story and would have enjoyed a little more history in sense of Ruby's childhood after the accident and more of the relationship of Eirik and Thayne but still had a good time reading this.
I did see some of the plot falling in to place before it happened and felt that some of the battle scenes were a little rushed for me but overall I gave Bloodbane 3 stars.

Something has happened to Ruby but she can't exactly remember, and since she's the main viewpoint you don't know what's happened either. Because of this I had a difficult time falling into the world that Bloodbane creates.
I tend to love a book full of banter between the FMC and MMC - but a lot of Ruby's comments to the men in her life felt very awkward and uncomfortable.
I enjoyed the twist on the lore happening in the book, but it truly wasn't enough to keep me eagerly reading to find out what happened next.

I enjoyed this book. Paranormal why choose is right up my alley. The beginning was a tad slow with the build up and backstory but it really picked up towards the middle and end. The characters didn’t seem to have a lot of growth overall but the two MMCs were great.
I really love the supernatural and this book gives you what you’re looking for. It had a fantastic storyline, amazing characters and great world building. I read the book all the way through. It’s a definite page Turner. I would consider a must read if you like this gentry and I would recommend the book it keeps you very interested in the story. The characters draw you in and it leaves you want more.
Sassy humans, viking vampires, and reluctant alphas, oh my!
Did I read this book in two days? Maybe. True Blood & Twilight vibes with wolf shifters also thrown in? And can we talk about Grayson, the Viking vampire? Sign me up like yesterday and take my money.
This is a why choose, MFM/MMF paranormal romance with a murder mystery and memory loss elements.
Such a unique plot and I love Bellamy’s writing style. Very much looking forward to seeing what her brilliant mind comes up with next.
this was an interesting story for me. there were times I was questioning the storyline only due to trying to figure out how the relationship developed. I enjoyed the subplot but like another reviewer said I would have like a little more development of the relationships. overall it was a decent book, would i run out and read it again more than likely not, but the author definitely has potential to expand on this.
Incredible! 10/10 read ♥️ I am obsessed with every character. Even the "side" characters had whole personalities and stories going on in the background. The whole vibe felt like Teen Wolf/Vampire Diaries. The plot was perfect, and the romance was top tier! I love a why choose, add Vampire/Werewolf? And the boyfriends are boyfriends? Yes please 🖤 I love that the FMC wasn't useless. She was a bada** who could hold her own ♥️ I also loved that the Chapter Titles were words from the actual chapter. What a cool little addition, I actually had fun trying to find the title in each chapter 🖤 It's been a week since I read this, and I can't stop thinking about it. I can't wait to read more from Bellamy Barnes ♥️
Bloodbane by Ballamy Barnes Rating: 2.5/5 stars Format: eBook Arc Would I recommend: Yes, for a select audience Review:
Wow, a lot of really good things are going on in this book. The concept was incredible: a woman with a rough past living in a small town gets tied up in a dangerous attack that she can’t remember. She comes face to face with a vampire who isn’t as evil as she thought, and a werewolf who has more to him than just scruff and flannel. I was completely hooked! And then, things got surprising and went downhill for me. Did you ever read/watch Twilight and think “man, what if Jacob and Edward just decided to get along and both share Bella?” or perhaps, “what if Jacob and Edward themselves got together?” Yeah, this is that. This is Bella x Jacob x Edward, except Edward and Jacob already knew each other from a past life! Wild!!! Okay, now on to my not-so-favorite elements of this story. The actual story moved along so quickly that there were many pieces missing and plot holes galore. Ruby didn’t have a well flushed background at all, which is a shame because I started off loving her! The villain of this story was too simple, which was I guess supposed to be this big reveal, but it really fell flat and left me thinking, “really?” The author tried so many big reveals and shocks that it all just got quite convoluted and was simply too much. Stick to one or two major plot points and “gasp” moments, rather than trying to push so many into one small novel. With that, the characters really were not well developed at all. I didn’t get any semblance of pack values and bonding at all, a huge part of werewolf lore. In fact we were introduced to a set of twins, first names only, towards the end of the book, who served literally no purpose. The two best friends of our FMC Ruby, Milo and Cooper, were just kind of thrown into the fire, which was fine, but then the author tried to quickly slap on something interesting about them within the last few chapters in the story, which I really wasn’t a fan of. There were also a few grammatical and structural issues, from misspellings, to characters sitting down in a chair that they just sat down in two sentences ago. Overall, I loved the premise of the story, but some parts moved so quickly that they weren’t well thought out and ended up just being silly. And I love a fast-paced story and I don’t hate instant love, especially when it is in a fantasy and there are other powers at work here, but having this entire story, including the romance, happen over a few days and ending with love confessions was too much for me. Also, I don’t think three people can all be in love with each other, but I’ll push that aside since I am in fact reading about vampires and werewolves here… I would absolutely read more of Bellamy Barnes’ work, I think she absolutely has talent and creative thinking, but the execution just really didn’t do it for me. That being said, if you’re looking for a fast paced, moderately spicy, yet still taboo werewolf/vampire/human novel, this might be for you!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
3.75⭐ 2.5🌶️ 3.5❤️ I received an ARC copy for free and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, I thought that it was put together really well and I loved the plot and the idea. There were just some things that barely missed the mark for me.
In this story we have our FMC Ruby that finds herself in a crazy situation when she is attacked and she can't remember anything about it, other then waking up in her truck with dead bodies outside. The person she and her partner arrested for the murders, Grayson our first MMC, she believes is innocent. Then she receives a call from a reclusive family that claims the dead men as kin, in walks Thayne our second MMC and to everyone's surprise Grayson's former lover. But Grayson and Thayne aren't all that they seem, and neither is Ruby. This story is a paranormal why choose romance set in modern day Alaska. It is action packed and they story does move quite quickly.
I really enjoyed the plot and storyline of this story, and I loved that we are learning everything about this world at the same time as the FMC. However, there were some points of the story that I thought were dragged out that didn't need to be. And apposed to that I thought that there were other parts that could have benefitted if it was flushed out a bit more. I would have loved if there was more world building in this book. I wanted more with how this world of Lycans and vampires worked. At one point it mentions a life long blood feud between the two, but it is never mentioned again when it should have been because of the relationships that could have been affected by that. There were a lot of things that I wished were fleshed out about this world and I wish that there was more time spent on the relationship in this story.
This is a romance book and yes romance is there but I feel like it suffered a little bit. I love these characters and I love their relationships, but I just wanted a little bit more. I wanted more longing some more pining and defiantly more yearning. I feel like Grayson was more in love with Ruby and Thayne then they were with each other or him. I wanted more from the other two. That may be a bit nit picky but I love romance books for these reasons, I want the romance. I want the moment they fall in love, I want the moment when they realize how much this person, or people in this case, love each other. I crave those high emotion moments, and I feel like I missed that with Ruby and Thayne.
Overall I would recommend this book, I loved the story and thought that it might make a good introduction to dip your toe into the omega verse to see if you might like it.
Bloodbane is one of the rare shifter romances that immediately grabbed my attention and kept it. Even though shifter stories aren’t usually my go-to, the irresistible combination of a striking cover, a gripping summary, and a main character as compelling as Ruby pulled me in fast. Ruby is the kind of heroine who sells an entire series on her own: vibrant, layered, and instantly likable, making every twist in the plot feel more personal and impactful. For a debut, this book does an impressive amount of heavy lifting and does it well. It blends mystery, supernatural politics, why-choose romance, and action without losing momentum. Between Ruby’s shadowy past, tangled vampires-and-werewolves dynamics, and a captivating triad of love interests, the story offers something for nearly every paranormal romance reader. Add in a heartfelt found-family element, and it becomes even easier to invest in these characters. While not every question gets answered, that works in the book’s favor. It’s easy to imagine this story blossoming into a multi-book series, and the loose threads feel more like intentional hooks than gaps. I occasionally wished for deeper worldbuilding and more insight into certain characters, but those feel like opportunities ripe for future installments rather than flaws. The pacing has a few uneven stretches, natural for a first novel, but Bellamy Barnes’ writing shows clear skill and even more potential. Her voice is sharp, atmospheric, and funny in all the right places. The world has a fresh, almost gothic edge, softened (and spiced up) by modern humor and character chemistry. And let’s talk about the spice: with MFM, MMF, MF, and MM dynamics, the heat is there. Personally, I wanted a bit more emotional complexity between Thayne and Grayson, but the foundation is solid and begging to be expanded in future books. The ending is where the book truly shines surprising twists, weighty revelations, and a sense of momentum that makes you hungry for the next installment. Barnes doesn’t shy away from darker themes or high stakes, and that boldness pays off. Bloodbane stands out in a genre crowded with shifters and vampires by offering something genuinely unique from the lore, to the inter-species tension, to the supernatural political landscape. If you want a dark, spicy, action-driven paranormal romance with fresh energy and a heroine worth rooting for, this one is absolutely worth sinking your teeth into. And if Barnes continues this as a series? I’ll be first in line.
“ I’ve all but forgotten that love isn’t just a liability. Love can be a weakness, but it can also be a source of incredible strength. “
At the start of this book Ill admit I was completely lost for at least the first 50 or so pages, I had no clue what was going on to the point I had to double check this wasn’t the second in a series without realising ( but i think that’s somewhat intentional cause the blanks get filled in later down the line), it kinda just dives you straight into a scene not knowing what’s going on or who any one is or what they look like so I found that super confusing to follow along personally. An extension of that is while figuring out all these characters, the names and terms where CONSTANTLY changing from one sentence to the next for example- vampire, vamp, night walker, blood sucker, walking corpse, fanger, fanged fucker etc. All in one chapter, I can appreciate that you would know what they all mean, but id of loved to see a lot more consistencies there.
I will say though after that point, it started to flow alot better, there was character descriptions and wasn’t so all-over the place, I did really enjoy the story line and getting to know the different characters and everything was really well written. Honestly, i haven’t read a shifter romance in YEARS it used to be all i read, and this book made me miss the genre, so I might start getting back into that more!
I wasn’t really a fan of Ruby’s character she was very hit or miss for me 90% of the time she was great but then she kept coming across very immature in the way she talks like responding “nuh uh” and she was really forward with her advances towards Grayson and Thayne which made me cringe especially paired with how they first responded to it but again that’s intentional to the story line.
I love this take on the romance where the mmc’s have passed history before the fmc is in the picture, it made the why choose romance come alot more naturally than most ! It's usually a difficult aspect to balance out to make work, so I love this take on it.
I received an ARC of this book, which does not affect my review. Thank you to the author and Booksirens for the chance to read this book.
Bloodbane is one of the few shifter novels I have read, and while shifter romances aren’t usually my first choice, I was swept up by the book summary and this stunning cover. I also immediately loved Ruby from the start, which is what ultimately will sell a novel for me. If the main character appeals to me, chances are I will feel more invested in the main plot at hand. This book juggles a lot. It’s impressive for a debut. There is a mystery component with Ruby’s past, vampires and werewolves, a why choose relationship where all parties are intriguing, and enough action to keep you satiated until the end. There is also a strong component of found family which I liked.
Since I could see this series being continued, I didn’t mind as much that there were still questions left unanswered. However, there were a few times where I was hoping for more insight about both the characters and the world all the same. We get a lot of great banter and strong character relationships, but I think those could have been strengthened more if there was more of a look into characters and certain threads that haven’t been tied together. If this was a standalone, I might be disappointed, but since I wouldn’t be surprised to see this become a series, I will count it as “questions to be answered later.”
There were a few moments of bumpy pacing, which is why my rating truthfully hovers around a 3.5, but as this is the author’s first book, it’s not unexpected. I could see her style, which is already very good, getting even better across the books and later books having more even pacing, more depth, and just as much action. All this said, I enjoyed my time with this book and I am glad I took the leap. I guess that says how important a good cover and summary are! There is something for many readers to love in this book, and it’s bound to make you want to read more by the author. Especially if the series continues. I hope it does.
Bellamy Barnes gave us something fresh and unexpected with Bloodbane. In a genre flooded with shifter and vampire romances, this one managed to feel unique — from the lore to the dynamics between the species, and the world-building around inter-pack tensions and supernatural politics.
The book kicks off with action and an intriguing mystery setup that had me instantly curious about Ruby’s past and the forces working against her. I loved the eerie, almost gothic vibe of the world, mixed with modern, snarky humor that gave it a sharp edge. Some of the humor really landed, breaking up the tension in all the right places.
The spice is there — with MFM, MM, MF, and MMF scenes — but if I’m honest, I was hoping for a little more in terms of build-up and emotional depth, especially between the two MMCs, Thayne (the Alpha werewolf) and Grayson (the cursed vampire). Their relationship development felt a bit surface-level compared to the other bonds forming in the story, and I would’ve loved to see more tension, conflict, or emotional stakes between them to really sell their connection.
That said — the ending was a standout. Twists were delivered, secrets revealed, and it left me curious about what’s next for these characters. There’s a lot of potential in this world and I appreciated how Barnes didn’t play it safe, giving us darker themes, vengeance-driven characters, and fates that feel heavy with consequence.
If you’re looking for a spicy, dark, and original supernatural romance with a mix of action, mystery, and forbidden bonds, Bloodbane is worth sinking your teeth into. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for what Bellamy Barnes does next.
Bloodbane by Bellamy Barnes is a why choose paranormal romance set in Alaska featuring a Viking vampire, a Werewolf pack and one very confused woman in the form of Ruby Evans, who wakes up with no memories following a brutal attack that left two men dead and the only suspect locked up in the local station and saying nothing. Despite knowing what he is accused of, Ruby is incredibly drawn to Grayson, and in her quest to prove his innocence she encounters Thayne, a hulking recluse who lives in an isolated compound on the edge of the forest with the rest of his "family". As her investigations continue Ruby learns of the existence of a world she knew nothing about, a world that seems determined to put her life in danger. a danger that deepens every time another secret is revealed. This was a fun fast paced read, it definitely had some Twilight vibes, though its clearly aimed at a more adult audience. There is a nice amount of spice, the chemistry between all three main characters was sizzling and the banter had a hint of humour that I really enjoyed. The plot pacing was pretty consistent, it started and ended strongly and while it did slow a little in the middle it was not enough to detract from my enjoyment, but I found that the development of the relationships between the main characters was more erratic. As far as debuts go this was pretty strong and I liked that the book had a satisfying ending while still leaving the door open for the author to revisit these characters in the future. 3.5 stars rounded up I read an ARC courtesy of BookSirens and the publisher, all opinions are my own.
Bloodbane is a dark, gripping fantasy that sinks its fangs in from the very first chapter and doesn’t let go. Bellamy Barnes crafts a world that feels both dangerous and seductive, filled with blood magic, political intrigue, and morally complex characters who keep you guessing at every turn.
What stood out most to me was how alive this world feels. The author doesn’t rely on typical vampire tropes — instead, Barnes builds something more layered and brutal, where power always comes at a cost. The magic system is fascinating and well thought out, and the pacing balances tension and emotion beautifully.
The main character is especially compelling — flawed, determined, and constantly torn between survival and morality. Their choices feel real and raw, and that emotional depth makes the story hit harder. The side characters also shine, each with their own secrets and motives that enrich the larger narrative.
If there’s one thing that kept this from being a five-star read for me, it’s that a few moments of world building and secondary plotlines could’ve used just a bit more space to breathe. But honestly, that’s a small quibble in an otherwise immersive, satisfying read.
Bloodbane is a sharp, atmospheric fantasy that delivers everything I love about the genre: danger, desire, and a touch of darkness that lingers long after the last page. I’ll definitely be picking up more from Bellamy Barnes.

After sustaining a head injury and losing her memory, possibly in the line of duty for an Alaskan Sheriff's department, or in the pursuit of her own search for answers, Ruby is drawn into a secret world she never knew she'd left to begin with. She is joined by werewolf Alpha named Thayne, and his pack; a vampire named Grayson, and her trusty friends/co-workers to find and capture those responsible for the attack on herself, and the the victims found at the scene of her assault.
This book had a lot of joking between the characters, and some interesting takes on vampires and werewolves. I would have liked to see both more character background, and have a little more of the lore added in, but the pace was so quick for a lot of the book that time just wasn't made for it.
The instant-love connection between Ruby and the males was too quick for me as well. I would love to read a sequel and see how the story progresses and what questions can be answered, and what additional lore we can get.

Thank you to LibraryThing early readers for the copy of the e-book.
4.5 This story is cold, creepy, and deliciously chaotic—in the way where you keep telling yourself “just one more chapter” and then suddenly it’s 3AM and you’re staring at the shadows in your hallway like Ruby isn’t the only one being hunted.
Ruby waking up on that frozen lake with no memory? Oh I was HOOKED. Blood on the ice, nobody talking, and two men who both scream “definitely dangerous but also… maybe hot?”
Grayson: jail cell broody with Viking eyes. Thayne: forest recluse built like a haunted log cabin. Me: Yes, hello, I will absolutely make poor decisions here.
The atmosphere is so thick you could chew it. The mystery unravels like a feral animal—slow at first, then teeth out. And when the supernatural twist truly hits, I had to set the book down and say “oh EXCUSE ME?”
The vibes: ❄️ remote Alaskan dread ❄️ secrets buried deeper than the snowpack ❄️ morally questionable men with emotionally questionable intentions ❄️ a heroine whose memory is lying to her (rude) ❄️ fangs, fur, and blood… but make it aesthetic
I needed like three more scenes with a certain character (you’ll know who), but honestly? I devoured this. It’s eerie, addictive, and just the right amount of unhinged.
If you love cold climates, cryptic men, and plot twists that feel like claws on glass—welcome to Willowbank. You’re not leaving anytime soon.

I want more!!! I don't know if there will be more as it ended in a way there doesn't have to be more but damn it....I want more!!!
We are following Ruby who at the very beginning has just been found outside, injured, and without memory of what happened. Ruby works with the sheriff's department but isn't really a sheriff. Ruby is stubborn, inquisitive, and about to find out about the world within her world. There is past trauma from child abuse and loss of her parents in a car accident that is discussed. We are also immediately introduced to two side characters, Murphy the town doctor and Cooper (Ruby's best friend). Then there is Grayson and Thayne our MMCs....swoon. There are Lycan and Vampires...or was that lumberjacks and suspects....eitherway it's fantastic!!
Ruby is relatable....the supporting cast is loveable....the little Alaskan town is believable and 3/4 of this book is about the plot and the character development. Plus you need to build a little connection and tension before the spice....which is 🌶🌶🌶🌶 HOT and explicit!! There is only the one scene but I thought that was perfect.
I laughed out loud several times during this book and I didn't want to put it down!!!
This was my first time reading Bellamy Barnes but it won't be my last!!
I really wanted to be infatuated with this book. The plot had everything I wanted, two MMC's who had history, and FMC who is strong in her own right, little bit of spice, why-choose element, murder mystery.
The book starts really strong. We have a FMC with memory loss in an eerie situation in a small town where nothing major ever seems to go wrong. The FMC being a deputy, whilst also not being the deputy, really drives this through.
However, the first plot point ends, the main characters get their HEA, and then a second plot point starts? and this was where I started to struggle with this book. This is still an incredibly enjoyable book, but it does feel like it should be two separate books. The murder mystery, and then Ruby's history that she ran away from coming back to bite her. I would have LOVED an entire book on them preparing, and for there to be a back and forth between her and her adoptive father.
Instead it felt like 75% of the book was on the murder mystery, and then the last 25% was tacked on for no reason.
I definitely think this will tick a lot of peoples wants and needs, but for me this is a very average book and while I am sad about that, it's an enjoyable read if you're wanting to settle in for some cutesy heart ache.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
