Evey writes heartwarming romances with steamy moments, often in small-town settings with an element of sports. An American from the Midwest, she now lives in a tiny country in Europe where it rains a lot. That is probably why she occupies her days typing away on her laptop with music on repeat and slow-roast coffee nearby. Oh, and she vows to never break up with cake.
Do I dream about being a billionaire? Yes. Do I want to do the work that would make me a billionaire? No. Do I wish my husband was a billionaire? Yes. Do I want my husband to do the work to become a billionaire? No, I want him home with me all day everyday. Yes, I know I can’t have my cake and eat it too. But Savannah got pretty close.
Savannah May was living a comfortable life working as the executive assistant to the COO of a billion dollar company while finishing her masters degree in Business. All was well until her beloved boss dropped a bomb: he was retiring and reassigning her to be the assistant to the CEO, who can’t get an assistant to last for more than a week. To make it worth her while, he agrees to have the company pay off her student debt if she can make it work. In this day and age, how can she say no to that? So she packs her desk and heads upstairs to where the intimidatingly rude (and attractive) CEO awaits her. He already thinks she won’t last and wants to be extra hard on her to prove a point, but he wasn’t ready for Savannah’s snark and tenacity. One week bleeds into 2, to 3 and while their banter is heated, deals are flowing and they realize they actually work well together. But that tension.. it’s almost too much. When they finally give into it, they see it is more than just lust. Now, how to separate work from play? To keep it secret? That’s the question.
I don’t read many “billionaire” romance books but when I do, they are definitely entertaining. What a life to be able to blow money and do whatever you want. Good banter is like half of what us Booktok girlies look for and this one definitely has it. I’ll admit, the problem they have to overcome at the end irked me… but the HEA was satisfying nonetheless. Definitely worth a read!!
this book was adorable! I love a workplace romance and while it’s cliche I just love the grumpy boss x sunshine assistant trope! This one was so well done, I loved their banter and how the tension started slowly building up between them. Then that fvck it moment was just pure lust and indulgence, I was enraptured by their story and both of the characters. The plot was really fun, and there were a couple of fun twists there, and a couple of not so fun, bawl my eyes out twists too. In all honestly some things made me feel a little iffy about the fmc, however I still loved her for most of the book. I did love the mmcs transition from mean grumpy boss to whipped puppy dog eyes boss begging for her attention. Their banter was so fun, he’s just sending on stupid tasks just to see her and still so in denial, it’s hilarious. There is a third act breakup that personally I think didn’t have to be there, but that’s the only thing about the book I didn’t enjoy. Everything else about this was so fun and spicy, and overall a great lightish romance read. I give this a 4.5/5
Thank you to Evey Lyon and Hambright PR for the advance copy!
This was a cute workplace romance with a touch of small town charm. Savannah and Julian had great banter, and I especially loved the moments when they were forced to start working together. Savannah was definitely sassy and never hesitated to put Julian in his place, which made their dynamic really fun to read. Their chemistry was there, and I’m always a sucker for an MMC who turns into a softie for his girl.
I will say the conflict they needed to overcome wasn’t my favorite. I found myself wishing for a little more depth, and some of Julian’s responses felt a bit cheesy for me.
Overall, this was a cute, quick read, and the ending definitely left me intrigued about what’s to come for the next couple!
Clashing Hearts is an enemies to lovers, billionaire, small town vibes, age gap romance. I love the banter and chemistry between Julian and Savannah. She put him right in his place and it was exactly what he needed. I am a huge fan of Evey's writing and am so excited for this new series, it started off fabulous. I really enjoyed the connection to Everhope and cannot wait for Elodie and Hayes. Thank you Evey Lyon for the opportunity to read this ARC.
I enjoyed this read. It was easy and comforting, and for my usual reading style and genres I’d definitely consider it a palate cleanser. It was funny, lighthearted, and had some spice without being overly complex. It’s the kind of book you could easily read in a day.
The FMC grew up in a small town and was raised by her aunt after her parents died in a car accident. Her aunt owns a riverboat restaurant that’s a staple in their community. The FMC works as a secretary for a large company, and when her executive retires, she’s reassigned to work for the CEO, the MMC, who has a reputation for going through secretaries because, quite frankly, he’s a jerk. Naturally there’s tension between them, and their office dynamic slowly shifts as they start developing feelings for each other. It follows a classic office billionaire romance setup.
The main conflict comes when a development company plans to modernize the small town and turn it into a tourist destination, which would threaten her aunt’s riverboat restaurant and livelihood. What the FMC doesn’t realize at first is that the MMC’s family is involved in the deal behind the scenes. The MMC himself didn’t know about the plan because of long-standing tension with his father. He gave his sister his voting rights so he could distance himself from the family business. Unfortunately, his sister votes in favor of the development, without knowing about the romance, because it’s a deal that would make everyone a lot of money.
This becomes the main obstacle in the story, and the MMC ultimately steps in to save the day. For me, the conflict didn’t feel strong enough to push this into a four-star read. I think it would have been more impactful if the MMC had known about the development from the beginning and initially chosen business, only to later fall in love and choose her and her town instead.
Overall, it’s a fun, lighthearted office romance that works well if you’re looking for something quick, entertaining, and easy to read in a day.

Clashing Hearts is a fiery enemies-to-lovers romance that launches the Haven Crossroads series in style. This captivating romance is a spin-off from the Everhope Road series, giving readers a chance to revisit the world Ms Lyon has created while still delivering a story and a new series that can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone.
With Clashing Hearts, Evey Lyon could not have asked for a better start to her new Haven Crossroads series.
And what a start it is.
This enemies-to-lovers romance ticks every box readers love—an engaging storyline, electric chemistry, and a heroine who completely steals the spotlight. Savannah is strong, determined, and refuses to be intimidated, even when she finds herself face-to-face with one of the most infuriating men imaginable. Honestly, she’s the kind of character that makes you think, I want to be Savannah when I grow up.
Then there’s Julian. The billionaire boss who burns through assistants at lightning speed, expects perfection, and has a reputation that would make anyone nervous about working for him. At times you’ll probably want to throw something at him—but that’s part of the fun. Because Julian is about to meet the one woman who won’t simply fall in line.
When Savannah is promoted to work directly for Julian, clashes are inevitable. Their sharp personalities collide instantly, leading to some brilliant banter and tension-filled moments. But beneath the arguments there’s been a simmering heat building between them for a long time. Now that they’re working closer together, that slow burn attraction is about to reach boiling point.
Packed with witty exchanges, sizzling chemistry, and a heroine who refuses to back down, Clashing Hearts is a brilliant opening to the Haven Crossroads series—and if this is the beginning, readers are definitely in for something special.
If you like: • Enemies-to-lovers romance • Billionaire boss dynamics • Strong, confident heroines • Banter-filled chemistry • Small-town interconnected series • Authors like Lucy Score, Meghan Quinn, and Max Monroe
A fantastic start to the series—sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the sparks flying. 💕📚
ARC REVIEW: I have received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Clashing Hearts is the first book out of a 4 book series in Evey Lyon new series Haven Crossroads
Little spoilers ahead!
This is an enemies-to-lovers Forbidden romance with a small-town feel. Savannah (FMC) ends up becoming Julian’s (MMC) new assistant after he’s gone through several assistants already. When Charles, the company’s current CEO, is nearing the end of his career at Haven Crossroads, he gives Savannah the ultimate mission: become Julian’s assistant and try to make it work.
Savannah is already tied to the company since they helped pay for her degree, so saying no isn’t really an option. Things get even more complicated because Savannah and Julian have a 10-year age gap, and once they find out about the new arrangement, they’re both immediately on alert.
What neither of them wants to admit is that there’s been a quiet attraction between them for a while. Throughout the book we get plenty of tension, frustration, and some heated arguments between the two before they finally give in to what’s been building.😈
And when Julian falls… he falls hard. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Savannah, however, is determined not to let the relationship affect her career or make it seem like she’s “sleeping with the boss,” which adds another layer of tension to the story.
Without giving too much away, if you enjoy small-town romances and interconnected series, this is definitely one to check out. I’m excited to see where the Haven Crossroads series goes next.
Spice level for me: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3/5)

I had a really fun time with Clashing Hearts. I’m always a sucker for a workplace romance, and this one hit that sweet spot of grumpy boss meets the one assistant who refuses to be intimidated by him.
Julian has a reputation for running assistants off almost immediately, so everyone assumes Savannah will be gone within a week. Instead, she walks in with confidence, a great sense of humor, and zero patience for his attitude. Their back-and-forth was easily one of the best parts of the book. The banter was fantastic, the tension kept building, and it was fun to see Julian realize that Savannah might actually be his match. Savannah was a great character. She’s smart and doesn’t lose herself just because she’s attracted to her boss. I also liked seeing Julian’s character develop as the story went on. Underneath all that billionaire arrogance is someone who clearly needed a person like Savannah in his life to shake things up.
The workplace tension, small-town atmosphere, and little bit of spice made this a really easy book to fly through. This was a really good start to the series, and after that ending, I’m definitely curious about the next couple!
FMC: Savannah MMC: Julian Tropes: office romance, boss x employee, he falls first, billionaire, grumpy x sunshine, age gap Spice Rating: 2.5 Series: Yes | Book One in Haven Crossroads Series - Interconnected POV: Dual Cliffhanger: No
It’s no secret I love an office romance, especially when it’s mixed with the grumpy/sunshine trope. That’s exactly what I got with Evey Lyon’s upcoming release.
An aspect of this story and not something I think I’ve encountered more than once or twice is the attraction between characters (at least on his part) before entering into the boss x employee territory.
The banter is strong along with some inappropriate office flirtation between the two, but hey, I’m not complaining. The characters are enjoyable. I liked that even though the FMC didn’t think he was paying attention, the MMC remembered things that were important to her.
Another enjoyable contemporary romance by Evey Lyon. As always, I’m looking forward to what comes next. If you can’t wait until Friday, go check out the author’s Everhope Road series (available now). While Everhope is the FMC’s hometown, that series does not need to be read in order to read this one.
Thank you to the author and hambright pr for the advanced copy.
Many assistants didn’t survive Julian Haven, billionaire, business shark, and a walking storm cloud. Now, Savannah is lucky number seven on the assistant list. The one who’s supposed to run screaming before the ink on my contract dries. But she’s not like the others and he is having a hard time accepting that.
This was a cute workplace romance. Savannah is all sunshine whereas Julian is a grump who doesn’t like anyone challenging him. Savannah doesn’t hesitate to put him in place and she’s so sassy I love that! They had great banter and the chemistry was really good. I especially love a MMC who’s broody to the entire world but a softie for his one and only! I just wished for a little bit more depth to the story as some things felt a little too cheesy and the conflict at the end wasn’t really my favourite.
Overall this was a quick and fun read and I’m definitely looking forward to upcoming books in the series.
TROPES ✨ 👩❤️👨 Enemies to Lovers 💵 Billionaire Romance 🏢 Office Romance 🚫 Age Gap 🩶 Morally Gray Hero 🥰 He Falls First
Clashing Hearts was exactly the office romance fix I didn’t know I was craving. Billionaire CEO? Check. Grumpy, controlling, filthy rich man with zero tolerance for incompetence? Also check. Sign me up.
Julian is the perfect storm of arrogance and intensity. He has no patience for his new assistant and makes that very clear from the start. What he doesn’t realise, of course, is that she’s about to become the one person capable of completely shifting his world. Watching that transition unfold was ridiculously satisfying.
The banter between these two? Top tier. Sharp, witty, and packed with chemistry. Their dynamic carried the story effortlessly, and I had so much fun watching them clash, spark, and slowly unravel each other.
And while I thoroughly enjoyed this one, I am beyond excited for book two. Hayes and Elodie already have me intrigued, and I cannot wait to see how their story plays out.
Office romance lovers, this one absolutely delivers.
This is my first read from this prolific author, and I enjoyed my time in these pages.
Savannah is an easy character to like and connect with, and I loved her confidence and sassy spirit. Julian was a bit tougher for me to like and care about his relationship phobia. Yes, this is a "grumpy boss" story, but realistically, he was also a damaged guy, who hides behind his gruff exterior (which bugged me more than I wanted it to).
I did finish this quicker than I thought I would, and enjoyed many things: Friendship banter and support Small town beginnings that ground the FMC Self confidence and work ethic Steamy scenes and fun interactions
Overall, I did enjoy the path these two took to reach their HEA. I just wish it wasn't as difficult for Julian to come to terms with his feelings. I do recommend this story, and look forward to the next new release from this author. I received my ARC from Hambright PR, and voluntarily leave my review.
This book deserves all the stars. The tension is incredible. The characters back and forth, hate to love is sooooo hot. I was on the edge of my seat and read this too fast. But I could not put it down!
❤️Boss/Assistant ❤️Age Gap ❤️Grumpy/Sunshine ❤️Work Romance ❤️Billionaie ❤️Deserves All the Stars ⭐️
Julian can’t keep an assistant. In walks the absolute best of the best, Savannah (I love her sooooo much)!!! And she is per sunshine to Julian’s grumpiness! She has no problem putting him in his place!
Sparks fly, did I mention the tension is everything!!! This is a book I will read over and over!
P.S. the next book in this series is gonna be sooooo fun. I am loving these characters and the fun rollercoaster ride Evey is taking us on! Absolutely amazing!!!
Wow was I hooked! I decided to start with a chapter or two and before I knew it I was 50% in and was completely invested in Julian and Savannah. The banter, the wit, the snark, the chemistry will have you enthralled. I loved the change in Julian’s character once he fell for Savannah, this MMC definately goes through some changes with his personal development and I loved it. After going through so many PA’s he tries his hardest to get rid of Savannah but she is not easily defeated and gives as good as she gets. When their fighting leads to passion you cannot help but route for them all the way. Savannah is such a strong, stubborn and passionate FMC that you can’t help but love her. Can we just talk about that cliffhanger Evey left us on because I kinda need book 2 ASAP!!! Thank you so much to Evey and her team for this eARC in exchange for my honest review
Every Lyon has done it again! I absolutely devoured this enemies to lovers, forbidden, billionaire romance in one sitting. Julian gets more than he bargained for when Savannah is promoted to his assistant. These two clash at every turn only to find they are each other's perfect match. They walk a fine line on trying to keep business and Pleasure separate. I loved every moment of their journey and how truly genuine Julian gets when he pulls out all the stops to get Savannah back. This book is full of spice, angst and lots of feel good moments. Also, I enjoyed going back to Everhope and getting a glimpse on some of the characters from previous series. Definitely a 5 star must read and can't wait for the next book in this series. I was sent an advanced copy and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
This was such a cute small-town girl/billionaire romance with the added bonus of a boss/personal assistant dynamic. The banter between these two carried the story for me. I loved how often she pushed back and refused to just roll over for him. She’s sunshine, yes, but she’s also strong and willing to stand up to his grumpy billionaire attitude, which made their chemistry even more fun to read.
The tension leading up to the breakup was handled really well and didn’t feel forced. When everything finally came to a head, the emotional payoff worked and most importantly, the grovel delivered. Nothing worse than a billionaire MMC who messes up and barely apologizes, but thankfully that wasn’t the case here.
Overall, this was a fun, banter-filled romance with great grumpy/sunshine energy and a satisfying emotional payoff.
Clashing Hearts is billionaire Julian and Savannah’s enemies to lovers, age gap romance and it’s the first book in the new Haven Crossroads Series. I loved everything about this book from the strong characters to the quirky small town vibes. Julian goes through assistants quicker than most, he expects perfection and most don’t last under pressure but when Savannah is promoted to his next assistant she has a different perspective. She is strong, sassy and she is not intimidated…… So what happens when Julian realises he loves a woman who can give as good as she gets. I fell hard and fast for this billionaire and I adored Savannah but what took this book to the next level was the sarcastic banter and the sizzling chemistry. This is a well written, entertaining and engaging story that’s a great start to Haven Crossroads.
💜 Blurb - My boss is a billion-dollar nightmare. I was supposed to hate him—but now I can’t decide if I want to throttle him… or kiss him again. The first book in a new series where billionaire egos collide with small-town hearts. 🩷 Review - From the very first page I was hooked. I really enjoyed this story. I loved the characters chemistry and I wanted them to have the happy ending that they deserved. There was also a brilliant cast of background characters too. I loved the author's writing style and I found the pacing just right. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author. 💝 Thank you to Hambright PR and the author Evey Lyon for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun, bingeable read where billionaire boss meets his match in his sassy, and beautiful personal assistant. Julian is your ultimate grump. Busy running an empire, and making his assistants quit faster than my will to cook after 6pm. In comes Savannah, who absolutely delivers in looks and professionalism. Girlfriend makes him fall fast. She’s intrigued. He’s internally rewriting his entire personality to impress her. There’s ups, downs, drama, daycare germs and some spice at the local inn. Read if your a fan of: - workplace relationships - grumpy vs sunshine - age gap - found family
Thank you Evey and Hambright PR for the ARC. I enjoyed this one and the hint to Hayes and Elodie’s story has me intrigued.
First of all, I’m a sucker for a good workplace romance, and this book delivered everything I love about the trope. Add in billionaire meets small-town girl and you already know I was hooked from the start.
Julian and Savannah pulled me in right away. I loved the grumpy x sunshine dynamic between them, and watching their relationship unfold was so satisfying. There’s a lot at stake for both of them, and their connection feels risky… but at the same time they simply can’t stay away from each other.
Fun, well written, and such an easy read. I loved seeing how their story came together in the end.
Definitely recommend! 📚✨
TROPES ✨ 👩❤️👨 Enemies to Lovers 💵 Billionaire Romance 🏢 Office Romance 🚫 Age Gap 🩶 Morally Gray Hero 🥰 He Falls First
New series by Evey Lyon - sign me right up! Wee spin off from Everhope Road but can be read standalone.
Who doesn’t love a grumpy rich boss meets sunshine, smart cookie assistant. Savannah is less than pleased to get moved to work for the difficult yet gorgeous Julian ( who keeps losing his PAs). However decides to wow him and be super positive despite his best efforts to get her to leave. Enemies to lovers at its best ! He is so difficult at times too and you swing from loathing him to adoring him by the end No spoilers but things thaw between the battling duo and they keep their relationship secret. A trip back to Everhope Road is great and Julian goes to win back his girl. This book is so good - build up tension, banter and humour and spice. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more in this series.
Thank you so much to #HambrightPR and #EveyLyon for the ARC! Solid 4.75 stars! I love Evey’s writing style, it’s always so fluid and engaging. Julian is literally dreamy, oozing grumpy, big boss vibes. He’s perfectly possessive in a way that is instantly swoon worthy, this man will never give up. Savannah is complex, she’s funny, charming, wholesome and her wit out smarts Julien at every step. There’s ups and downs and the perfect smattering of spice. If you’re looking for a slight age gap office placed romance then this is it. Also I cannot wait for Hayes and Elodie’s book, things are about to get so messy and I cannot wait! 🌶️🌶️
Savannah finds out she is being re-assigned to be the personal assistant to the company boss Julian, who just so happens to have a long history of firing his assistants. Will Savannah be the one to tame the grump?
I liked this one! It was a fast read with lots of fun banter. The chemistry between Julian and Savannah was a slow burn, but worth the wait. Their little spats were hilarious.
The spice was niiice. On the more romantic side than sexy, but they still had their moments. The third act drama was a little out there, but mostly plausible.
Overall, great workplace romance enemies to lovers/assistant and boss/grumpy and sunshine.

Hello, people! First of all, let me mention that this book is the first book in the Haven Crossroads series. My first reading contact with the author's writing and I'm really excited. The absolute chemistry between Savannah and Julian that burns everything in its path, with a full electrified atmosphere and with writing that beats red, raises the heart rate, causes emotion and with a lot of tension. In addition, their very strong personalities give many stars to the story. And just for the clever plot and the explosive atmosphere, you have to read it!
Thank you very much to the author and Hambright PR for the eARC!
After reading approximately 15%, I’ve decided to step away from this one as it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me. While the blurb caught my attention, I found myself struggling to fully connect with the characters early on, which made it difficult for me to stay immersed in the story. I sadly found myself skimming much of the time. This is entirely a matter of personal reading preference, and I’m sure many readers will connect with it more than I did. I appreciate the opportunity to give it a try.
Savannah's fierceness wrapped in sunshine. Julian's past hurts presents as grumpy.
When forced proximity forces these two collide after circling each other's orbit, it's a bumpy, fun ride. While Savannah may be his subordinate, her personality and ambition are more than a match for Julian. Like also how secondary characters are introduced laying groundwork for the series.
Thank you Hambright P.R. for providing this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
My only wish was that Savannah made Julian fight harder for her. Outside of that, I love that he’s a hard headed ceo, that doesn’t give a poo about anyone’s opinion on him.
He falls first, he’s a billionaire ceo and stands firm on business. She falls hard, his personal assistant but doesn’t give a crap that he had money.
She just wants someone to accept her and the home she loves.
More 4 1/2 🌟 Clashing Hearts had me invested from the first chapter! The tension, the sexual attraction and the back and forth between Savannah and Julian was perfection. This billionaire, grumpy/sunshine workplace romance also had the right amount of spice. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to reading the rest of the Haven Crossroads series! I received a complementary copy from the author.
Julian goes through assistants quicker than some people go through vegetables. With her boss leaving, Savannah was reassigned to Julian with the hopes that the incentive that the company would pay for her master's degree, Savannah would stay around longer than the rest. The start to their working relationship starts off rocky, and it only gets worse when Julian kisses Savannah out of anger for her being attractive to all his clients. One night out at a gala changed everything, and they started a secret relationship. But what happens when, just as they decide to find a way to go public, Julian's the reason Savannah's aunt may lose her livelihood?
Julian and Savannah get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.
I loved how sassy and confident Savannah was. That is, until her heart was broken! It was clear that Julian needed someone like Savannah around to not only help him see that he didn't need to take life so seriously, but also to take his ego down a couple of notches. Also, to show him what a family could be like. I do wonder how much time they spent working out of Savannah's small hometown after they got married, or if it was just a weekend thing for them to get out of the city. I cannot wait for the next book that was hinted at in the epilogue, as that sounds like it will be a tale!
I received an advance review copy from Hambright PR, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book was a great read. It had me obsessed from the moment I started reading. Savannah was such a determined character who wasn't going to allow herself to be rattled by Julian and his history of assistants quitting. I love a female main character who has the ability to stand up for herself and not allow the male main character to get the better of her. The relationship between Savannah and Julian was one I enjoyed reading, and it had me hooked especially to see what happened when their relationship hit a stumbling block.
