He wouldn’t mind so much if he hadn’t been rejected from Valhalla by Odin himself. Before he can take his rightful place among Asgard’s best warriors, he must find the missing pieces of three weapons belonging to the gods.
And who’s responsible for these missing pieces? The trickster Loki, of course. With Loki’s help, Coal hopes to find these missing pieces quickly and easily.
Sarah Schanze, is a chocolate milk aficionado who likes to collect dragon figurines, ticket stubs, and certain kinds of dolls. Sometimes she also draws.
This is the first five chapters, recounting Coal's funeral and the quest Odin sends him on after.
Which involves directions from the World-Serpent, a fox and an owl, another funeral, grave goods, a rescue, two little scamps, how Coal doesn't need food or sleep, but that doesn't mean that others don't, and more.
This comic was super adorable and BEAUTIFULLY illustrated. Oh let me tell you, I just admired some of the pages for a while because they were gorgeous. The story was fun, engaging, and hard to put down.
And of course I'm a huge fan of anything Viking, so I enjoyed that aspect very much. ^_^ It was just RICH with well-researched, authentic Norse culture.
By the way, this comic was created by an indie author/illustrator, and I bought from her in person at a local geeky conference! How cool is that??
