Step 1: Kidnap someone cute.
Step 2: Force her into marriage.
Step 3: Try not to catch feelings.
I enjoyed The Dark Lord's Guide to Dating way more than I expected to - the description alone guaranteed it would be a fun ride, but I could not put this book down!
Kazimir is known as the Dark Lord, the unrepentant villain of the realms. He's hot, he's broody, he's evil.. and he has a plan for world domination that he is determined to see completed. There is just one problem.. the relic that is the key to his plan seems to require he marry someone of a very specific bloodline before he can use it.
- "And for the love of all that’s dark, someone get me a cloak that says ‘villain.’ I want to look as dramatic as my reputation demands.” -
Arabella is a gifted healer who has lived her entire life under her father’s control. Locked away in a tower, she holds no value to him beyond the bloodline she carries - one he intends to exploit by marrying her off to elevate his own power and standing within the kingdom.
As the realms most notorious villain, Kazimir's solution is to kidnap Arabella - he expects her to be meek and pliable, someone he can bend and compel to do what he wants. What he gets is a strong willed woman that doesn't need saving, and who refuses to do what he needs unless it's on her own terms.
This books had me giggling over the banter and swooning over the villain. I love that Arabella wasn't a damsel that needed saving. She's smart, strong and doesn't let anyone push her around, not even the insanely attractive villain. The relationship development was well done and the characters were fun but real, flaws and all. I really expected this to be something like Assistant to the Villain but it was way better!! Its a spicy good time full of plot twists, banter, and villainous activities like playing golf with the eyeballs of your enemies. This one is sure to take off once it fully launches in the US - definitely recommend this book if you like a dark and broody villain that STAYS the villain, but slowly discovers that he might just have the capacity for feelings after all.
