Coming Home by Wendy Smith is book One in the Copper Creek series. This is the story of Adam and Lily.

It was an interesting read but I just couldn't get over the family relationships. The mom was vindictive and took it out on her son, which I had a hard time with. With the brothers, you felt the love but not much of a relationship. The story had a great foundation but I felt it needed a bit more in the family aspect of this story.

This a sweet and sad story.

Two people who love each other are torn apart in the worst way. The heroine being the one who bore the brunt of the aftermath. Being left destitute with a son and regarded as the pariah of their small town of Copper Creek.

The hero still cannot maintain a relationship because he is still haunted by his first love and the betrayal he feel she at fault for.

This is a story full of sadness, family treachery and years of hurt. But it's also a story about redemption, forgiv

I'm not sure how this book crossed my radar but I'm glad it did. It was a very sweet second chance romance. It was really hard to not love Lily from the start, for all that she went through and the love that she had for her son. And as much as I loved Lily, Adam, not so much. Adam did manage to win me over when he learned what happened to Lily and his reaction. I loved that these two were able to find their HEA!

I loved this book! In the beginning I wasn't quite sure what was going on but as I continued to read it starts to come together. What starts as a teen love story gone bad gets alot worse before it gets better. Adam and Lily are high school sweethearts and have their whole lives planed out until the day they'd planned to get married then things go horribly wrong. Lily's mother is not quite mentally stable but has never hurt anyone. She has suffered from some mental health issues th

I'm a sucker for second chance romances and this one did not disappoint. Adam and Lilly were high school sweethearts who planned to get married but things happen or I should say some people get in the way of that happening causing Adam to leave town and Lilly to figure life out on her own. Both are broken and feel betrayed by the other but are still going on with life the best they know how. Fast forward twelve years and Adam is brought back home due to a family issue and that's when all the sec ...more

This story was little different for me, not because of the plot or characters, but because of the writing. I noticed the few books I've read from Kiwi author's have the same style. It not bad, but different from American or European authors.
In this particular story, I found myself very frustrated in the first half, the situation was frustrating, could have been resolved easily instead of having the drama for so many years. The characters actions were annoying. The second half was just

Coming Home is a sweet and yet sad tale of two people torn apart and both believing the worst of the other.

What would you do if you could not get to the love of your life? What would you do if you were kept a prisoner not of your making? What would you do if the walls were keeping you trapped?

What would you do if the love of your life didn't appear at the most important time in your life? What would you do when you realise not everything is as it seems? What would you do when you realise you hav
I enjoyed this story a lot just didn't love it.

I do enjoy a good second chance romance but the elapsed time kills me. The 12 year gap could have very easily been avoided.

Lily doesn't show up for her wedding and then Adam skips town. Every mistake adds up and is explained well. Hello telephone? Lily tried to find Adam but with his mom standing in her way, she fails. I get that Lily has been thought a lot and was caring for a new baby but I feel like she just should have done more to find him. And

Twelve years ago, Adam left Copper Creek, New Zealand and went back to his native USA. He left because as far as he knew, his fiancé, Lily, had left him at the alter and vanished. Unwilling to stay, Adam went to the states and ended up enlisting in the Army. Something that 12 years later finds him having left the army and suffering from PTSD. When he gets a call informing him his mum has cancer. He feels it’s finally time to go “home” and see his family.

This book pulled at heartstrings

This book touched me in all the right places, I've read quite a few second chance rance books but none have touched me as this one did. My heart broke for Lilly and all the hardships she had to endure at the hands of people who should have protected and loved her. And Adam, bless his heart. A boy who comes back a man and unravels the events of his and Lilly's pasts to find the lies and deceit kept him from a life of love and happiness. This story is heartwrenchin

Reunited childhood sweethearts, lies, Secrets

Full length, easily sweet romance with reunited loves Adam and Lily. They were 18 and about to be married when her mother drugged and held her as a prisoner for 6 months in the basement and lied about where Lily has been. Adam's mother was the worst also, she got told lies and ran Adam out of town and kept him away for 12 , with lies. And Lily really needed Adam there with her for their child that had obstacles in his path that wanted him gone. Told i

Easy read

I was really looking forward to this book but I was disappointed. Not a bad book, it is well edited and for the most part the storyline flowed. But it was slow and trite and predictable. Despite that (spoilers) the writer should have done more into Adams mom's story. It was just too simple of an explanation for why she did what she did. I think my favorite character was Max! I love the idea of it taking place in NZ and am kind of curious of the brothers stories. So I may still try one m

This was the first book that I've read by this author and I'm glad I downloaded it. It was a second chance romance with a loot of family secrets in the mix. I loved Adam and his brothers...his mother not so much. I was shouting at the kindle on many occasions telling them all to grow balls and give her a piece of her own medicine. I was heartbroken for Lilly, and reading about a special needs child when you have one always melts my heart. I like when authors think out the box and include su

Great Second Chance Romance

This was my first time reading from this author and I'm blown away! Great character development and I'm craving so much more from this series! I really enjoy second chance romance and this story is amazing! It's so much more than just a second chance at love. The author has drawn me in with the development of supporting characters. I'm excited to read more about the H's brothers.

This was a free book and I haven't read this Author before. Very good story. Made me CRY a lot and fall in love with Max. A wonderful little boy with many challenges. The love for his Mum and Adam.
This is a second chance love story that you will fall in love with. The trials of Lily and Adam of being wronged by family and finding each other again. Big thumbs up. Will follow this author and read her stories again.

This was a really lovely second chance love story, if I’m being totally honest, I did find it a bit long, thought it could’ve been a bit shorter and still not left anything out, but still a lovely story and really happy that it apparently carries on through the next book because it felt unfinished, moving straight onto book 2 😊

Forced apart by the choices and actions of others, circumstances beyond their control, this is the story of Adam and Lily.

Adam moves back to his home town after 12 years away and comes face to face with Lily. Is this their second chance?

Haunted by their pasts, they come together and find their future.

This is my first time reading this author. Coming Home is the first in a new series about a family of brothers in New Zealand. Adam left New Zealand after he was jilted at the alter by his high school sweetheart. He saw the world. Didn't look back. And hardened his heart to let love in again.

That all changes when he is called home by his youngest brother because his mom has cancer. To say the family dynamic is a bit messed up is being mild. So many secrets. The love of his life has a HUGE one t

I don’t think I have ever read a book that was set in New Zealand and now that I have I would have to say that I hope this author writes more because the place and her descriptions of it have created a beautiful picture in my mind.
Anyway location aside, I would have to say that if you are looking for a great second chance romance, this this will tick all your boxes. Although I wasn’t sure how they were going to get over the fact that despite everything that Adam and Lily were to each other first

Coming Home is an emotional journey for two people who were kept apart due to others. This is a second chance story but it comes with quite a few bumps in the road.
Lily is damaged. She has a past that ruined everything yet gave her the one thing that makes her life worth living. It's been a long hard road full of daily struggles and without the generosity of others she'd never have survived.

Returning home after being gone for 12 years Adam doesn't know what kind of reception he'll get. The last

This book has everything I am a sucker for: woman left behind, second chance at love, ex-military man, cute kid, and a big family (with the potential for more books for those family members). Even though I’m in the middle of reading an 11 book series that I’ve been looking forward to, when I came across this book I dropped my list and bought this book.

There are so many things I liked about this story, starting with how the book began. Reading the synopsis, you learn Lily left Adam at the altar,

DNF @ 50% these characters are like robots no feeling or depth at all. The story had promise but the lack of depth just made it horrible to try & read.

I've been publishing under the pen name Ariadne Wayne since early 2013, and decided it's time to publish under my real name. The Copper Creek series is the first I'll be publishing as Wendy Smith, and it's a quirky look at a small town with a lot of secrets. Inspired in part by news stories I've read in the last few years, each book will explore the life of one of the five Campbell boys. These are ...more
