Make Me Hunt: Dark Gods #1
Make Me Hunt
Every fantasy ends in fire. Every sin leaves a scar.
The dark romance you dream of—now brought to life in this illustrated edition.
What if the only person meant to save you... is the one your revenge demands you destroy?
He killed the only person I ever loved. Now my soul screams for revenge.
And I'm going to claim it—even if it's the last thing I do. Even if the price is greater than life itself.
To get justice, I have to enter the ultimate game of survival.
And my ticket in leads through HIS bed.
He's a killer in a designer suit. Untouchable. Unreadable. And unforgivable.
But while I was watching him, he was watching me back.
His obsession runs deeper than mine. And once he marked me, he never planned to let go.
I belong to him now, down to the last broken piece of me.
To the only monster who could ever defeat my own.
Ares. The man I'm cursed to love. The god I need to kill.
Keep in mind, this is book 1 of the Make Me Hunt duet.
Dark. Violent. Obsessive.
Make Me Hunt is a sinfully addictive dark romance with no heroes, no morals, and no chance to escape.
Make Me Hunt contains supernatural undertones and triggering stalking, branding, dub-con, a jealous/possessive antihero, and many more delicious TWs listed inside the book.
Read at your own risk. And welcome to Hell!
Be advised, Make Me Hunt is not just a dark romance.
This book will live in your mind rent-free, and you will find yourself closing your eyes just to daydream about HIM.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After absolutely loving Set and Serena’s storyline, I went into Ares and Brynn’s story with very high expectations. While this book was still enjoyable and moved at a faster pace, it unfortunately did not have the same dark, magnetic intensity that made Set’s story so addictive.
The mythology, danger, and tension were still interesting, and the overall storyline kept me engaged enough to continue into book two. However, the relationship dynamic between Ares and Brynn felt uneven to me. Ares is introduced as the God of War — powerful, dominant, dangerous, and driven by vengeance — yet much of that larger-than-life presence felt missing throughout the story.
Instead of fully embodying that strong and commanding energy, the relationship often felt as though Brynn was leading the emotional direction while Ares reacted around her. Their physical connection also developed very quickly, which lessened some of the slow-building tension and obsession I loved so much in Set’s storyline.
There were still moments I enjoyed, especially the mythology and darker atmosphere, and I’m hopeful book two brings out more of Ares’ ego, intensity, and commanding presence. Overall, still a solid read — just not quite as emotionally gripping for me as the previous duet.

Something about the writing style of this author kept me from giving jt 5 stars. I know what they were trying to do but it felt overdone. Trying to keep a mysteriousness to the book but it got to a point where I just felt “get to the point!!” However the overall plot is intriguing enough to look past the writing style.

Good
Took awhile to get into this story. Once I did tho, the story was interesting. Never did I expect the cliffhanger
ending.

Cliffhanger
This one leaves you on a cliff hanger you have read the next. Has a great story line with the two main characters.

Make Me Hunt by M. O. Absinthe was an engaging read that kept me invested from beginning to end.
What I absolutely loved most was Brynne. She is strong-willed, determined, rebellious, and unapologetically fierce. Following her journey as she sought to avenge her best friend's death was incredibly refreshing. She refused to back down, and her strength carried so much of the story. I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.
It took me a little while to get a good feel for Ares, the MMC. At first, I wasn't entirely sure what to make of him, but as the story progressed, I started to understand him more. Once his devotion and obsession became apparent and I saw just how deeply his love for Brynne ran, I became much more invested in his character and their relationship.
The chemistry between them was compelling, and I enjoyed watching their connection develop alongside the suspense and action woven throughout the story.
The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because, in this case, the slow burn was just a little too slow for me. I love tension and anticipation, but I found myself wanting the romance to move forward sooner. Even so, the payoff was worth the wait, and the story itself kept me turning the pages.
f you enjoy strong heroines, obsessive heroes, revenge-driven plots, and dark romance with a slow-burn relationship, Make Me Hunt is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
