I recieved this ARC because I know the AUTHOR and she thinks I'm pretty neat. And, you know, honest review and all that jazz.

I should disclaim this right away and put: Beware of constant ooohing and ahhhing to come.

This book was sooooo gooood. It's the first in the series. It's a clean NA Paranormal Romance but honestly, I didn't even know it was clean because she write's passion like a pro. It is about 280 pages but it seemed longer. This book has excellent dialogue and if anyone knows me at

I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.

I was a bit wary when starting this book as I knew from the synopsis that there were three people involved and my immediate fear was a love triangle, which I'm really fed up of reading about! However, my fears were groundless as this book took a turn that I never saw coming and by this point I was totally engrossed in the story.

Liesl, Baden and Koen all change and grow in this book, no stagnation for any of these charac

As friend of the author I have watched The Kiss blossom from the seed of an idea into this beautiful love story of family ties, past hurts, prejudices, loyalty and true love. I have seen this book morph from a very rough outline into what it is today. In some ways I feel like this may disqualify me from being able to write a trustworthy review in the eyes of some people, but I do know a good book when I read one. While talking to my husband one day over the last year I said, “Michelle is writing ...more

I actually was sucked right into this book and had a hard time putting it down to go to sleep. And then I'm not sure if I just woke up in the wrong mood, or if I just got to a certain part of the book, but I lost my "enamorment" for it. :( Sad panda.

I think in the end I was sucked in by the wrong characters -- ie not the main characters. I am endlessly fascinated by Baden, which may explain why I was so into the first 30% of this book, b/c after that he disappears until the end. Baden was sweet,

I have one huge issue with this book, and it’s an issue that I haven’t experienced this strongly in almost a year. I NEED THE SECOND BOOK. No, there are not any cliffhanger; It was just fantastic. Michelle Bolanger is a very talented writer; I’m extremely shocked this is her first book. I had started to slow my reading because I hadn’t found a book that really WOWED me in months. I’ve read good books, don’t get me wrong, but they all seemed to miss something. This book isn’t missing a thing! It ...more

A bit too juvenile for me. Couldn't get into this novel. So many "shake my head" moments where the kids should be asking obvious questions or taking the opportunity to be honest with each other. Ugh. Just couldn't deal with the slow pace of the plot progression and the lack of development of the relationships. They were kept too shallow for me. I sensed that something was about to happen, but I just didn't care enough about the characters to continue. I give it two stars because the basic plot p ...more

Loved it!

The storyline was unique and the characters quite loveable. A very creative paranormal story without being over-the-top unbelievable. I enjoyed it so much I read it in one sitting and am writing this review after just finishing reading at 3:45 am on a Tuesday when I have to be up for work in four hours. The copious amounts of coffee in the morning will be well worth it! Thoroughly enjoyed the story telling. Great read!

*I was provided a copy of The Kiss by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

The Kiss is a clean paranormal romance about Leisel Gottchalk coming of age and finding her mate. Born without the sense of smell, Leis is afraid she will be unable to bond with best friend and intended Baden Dietrick when the time comes. Their people are near extinction and are depending on Leis and Baden to mate and repro

The Kiss is a story about a unique clan which involves two people who grew up knowing they are intended for each other only to find out that it was a lie then setting to a mission to correct those lies.

I bought this book because I heard good things about it way before it was released. That said, I didn't read the blurb (which I don't usually do anyway) which surprised when I learned after a few pages that this is not a classic nor a contemporary romance or YA. But even with knowing that, with fe

4 Platypires for The Kiss by Michelle Bolanger

I was gifted a digital copy of this book for an honest review.

I heard about this book after I did a new release segment on the Platypire blog and I was immediately interested in reading it. I really liked the cover and thought it looked great. After the first few pages I knew I was going to like it and I was in for a new experience. Some of the foreign words did kinda throw me off just a tad but luckily they were translated. I still have no clue how

Leis and Baden are to be bonded, but their connection isn’t what it should be. The pair find a way to postpone the inevitable and happily escape for a taste of college life. Neither is prepared for what happens next. Baden has a secret and Leis is fighting her attraction for Koen, the local heartthrob.

I didn’t have any expectations going into The Kiss, as I’ve never read anything by this author before but I found I enjoyed it, which is always nice. The story has an interesting take on vampires b

What an amazing debut novel! There are way too many things that I could absolutely praise about concerning this book, but since I know long reviews can sometimes be overlooked I'll keep it short and sweet. This book is unique. It's a paranormal type romance that I honestly have never read before. Geber's meeting their Emfangerin. Maybe it's a story that's been touched on before, but if it has I've never read it. It's what I enjoyed most about this story. The romance was touching and soul searing ...more

Michelle Bolanger has crafted a very engaging world of the "Cotiere" (an "ancient race" of people) and the intrigues of keeping their people alive. This story follows Leisel "Leis" and her best friend Baden who are pledged to be united in an ancient ceremony, only to twist when Baden learns a secret that changes everything. Very quickly on, we are also introduced to Koen, a promising singer/college student with secrets of his own, who quickly falls for Leis. The story alternates from the viewpoi ...more

I just love this book! It is SO well written. I tend to not read too much fiction, as I got severely overdosed years ago, but Michelle drug me back in (by making me read a book for our house church) and I've read a few since then.

When she sent me the manuscript, I literally stayed up all night and finished it. One night. And now I want book 2!!! (get on that ok?)...

I'm known for getting 1/4 of the way through a book and going "meh" and never finishing it... but this is one I not only finished

I finished this book in two sittings. I thought it was fabulous. I thought everything about it was perfectly done. The author clawed out a great new take on a genre that is getting pretty darn worn out (vampires). The writing was without fault. The world building was rich, thorough and easily understood. The author's attention to details brought the story alive. The romance was spot on; sweet and sexy. The setup for the next story in the series played out with perfect timing and just the right a ...more

This story teased and tantalised and even though I have just finished I still want more.
Michelle's writing flows wonderfully, her details enhance and the tale is woven beautifully.
A fresh and surprising novel and I hope that it won't be too long before I can pick up the next instalment!!!

Well written for the most part. It was very entertaining. I read it all in one sitting. Liked the characters. Read on for minor spoilers.

However the level of sensual touching at the end made me feel uncomfortable. Also, the kiss at the end was eww for me. I like kissing. I like passionate kissing. Didn't like this one. Eww.

Final issue with the story was the reversal at the end. It seemed too sudden and unbelievable to me. I feel like the 2 men wouldn't have changed so much like that. If you re

I am an audiobook junkie and it has been months since I pulled out my kindle and read a book rather than having it read to me. The Kiss by Michelle Bolanger was a the one that made me dust off my kindle - it was a great read. Her descriptions made me feel like I was there with the characters. Her characters were likeable, her antagonist was a vile, and the story was worth the read.

Without trying to divulge any spoilers, I thought her incorporation of the "birth defect" of no sense of smell was
