A porcupine invites an owl and an otter to a slumber party. They make themselves slightly sick eating dough while baking cookies. When they go to bed directly after watching a scary movie, they each get a turn being afraid of monsters in the dark.
I found all the above quite boring, but my daughter liked it well enough when she was three.

This book has so much sentimental value to me. It’s the book that started it all! At 4 years old, this is the book my grandma would read to me every single night. She read it so much that I memorized the entire book without even knowing how to actually read, but I still would read it to her sometimes. This book holds some of my fondest memories. This is the book that turned me into a bookworm at just 4 years old!

I loved this book as a kid and it gave me such nostalgic feels re-reading it. The illustrations are adorable and the story itself was enjoyable and even humorous at times.
Porcupine decides he wants company and throws a pajama party in which he and his friends Owl and Otter make cookies, watch a scary movie, and talk before bedtime.
It’s a cute story about bonding with friends as well as facing your fears.

I liked this book. It was a simple and easy to understand read; however, most of the conflicts within the plot line were very mature in age. Most of the arguments were never fully resolved or apologized for. I am not sure if for kids that this book will exactly teach them good ways of solving problems, but the main characters, the otter, owl, and porcupine, did share their things to enhance the pajama party. Otter offered his place, otter baked cookies, and owl brought a scary movie. They each got to do what they had planned to do on their own, except they all chose to do it together which in my opinion is important for kids to understand the concept of teamwork, cooperation, and sharing,

This is a fun story about having friends over, making cookies, watching scary stories, and having a sleepover. The book is long, but has several chapters, so children can read the chapters individually and not get overwhelmed. We enjoyed reading this book together.

I could not tell if the characters were friends or not. Sometimes owl's facial expression was pretty intense. On the whole a nice story and the friends help each other trough their fears.
