This is most definitely a "me not the book" situation. The writing is more than decent but I'm not relating to the arrogant hero or the wishy washy heroine. Maybe there's some dirty sexy times that makes up for it later on but I'm cutting my loses now. Plus, I'm not a fan of the "that could never happen to me" style of writing where, of course, it does indeed happen. This one's just not my cuppa.

Insufferably boring and clichéd.

Went in thinking I will get some enjoyment and some reprieve from my other heavy tomes, came out feeling horribly bored and totally dissatisfied!

Why o why do I keep choosing such books to entertain me? :( *bangs head*

My first read of Nina Bruhns's work and it was a lovely hit indeed. This is a romance with a bit of suspense; both main characters having deeply scarred past that affected how they view life.

I'm not gonna touch on the suspense part as it should have been clear and plain to see from the beginning. Well. I supposed I'm gonna say it anyway: I was rather disappointed with the task force for not figuring it out sooner. There.

But though I'm not usually sold on too charming and cocky a hero, I

Put a commitment-phobe undercover cop and a prim kindergarten teacher together and the sparks they generate should fly...or so this book claims. In which case, a garden-variety erotic video should do the trick.

But both Mary Alice and Bridge resemble walking, talking clichés of the shy woman and uncommitted man so much so that I was tempted to skim for hidden evidence of deflowering, lace drawers and bicep-clutching kisses. But the repetitive character exaggeration - whether intended or not - si

Mary Alice has good reason to fear loving someone and even better reason for making sure if she does get involved again, that man can't be a cop. But sometimes a person just can't help who they fall for. Bridger, as it happens, is an undercover cop, who needs to get close to Mary Alice for his assignment. Only he actually does want to get to know her but then finds out her history and realizes that it can never be. Which is further complicated by the fact that he is not a relationship kind of gu ...more

Let me try to make this review as simple as possible:

Russell Bridger = Arrogant, self-centered, thinks he is God’s gift to women, undercover cop pretending to be part of a road construction crew who had no qualms about using Mary Alice on a personal and/or professional level, at least throughout most of the story. I couldn’t help but picture an overly cocky, obnoxious Kurt Russell type character who likely winks and blows himself kisses when he walks by a mirror. In fact, he probably carries a m

They said it was a Romantic Suspense novel, but I didn't see or read the Suspense, besides that I was good.

I can’t believe how fast I read this book. I enjoy every page on it, sure, sometimes the story was a little slow but even then the story was catching. This is the first Nina Bruhns’s book I’ve read but I’m sure it won’t be the last. I loved the way she developed the story, the personalities of of Bridge and Mary Alice, their love for roses, gosh… I love a huge part of this contemp

I absolutely adored this quirky little romance from Nina Bruhns and I’m so glad I requested it at the last minute! It might have been a late pick to review, but it’s been one of my favorites to read. Thanks, Ignite!

Mary Alice has had it with loving cops. She lost her uncle early in life; then three years ago, she’d lost her fiance Jack and then, a few weeks later, her dad. It’s too hard to live a man who might not come home. Luckily, she’s go

This is a good story that has action, suspense and romance. Mary Alice does not want to be around cops because the cops she has loved in the past has died and because of that, she's afraid of that same pain. Undercover vice cop Russell Bridger is working in the area that Mary Alice lives in and needs to use Mary Alice to catch a suspect—actually he needs to use her house as a base to watch the criminal. Bridge is working undercover as a construction worker and that’s how Mary Alice sees him firs

Stop in the Name of Love by Nina Bruhns is a quick yet enjoyable read. The characters were honest, conflicted at the right moments, and passionate.

Mary Alice has a rule she follows. No cops! Her favorite uncle, her fiancée, and finally her father were all cops. They were killed. Because of this, she wants nothing do with cops. This is understandable and completely honest on her part. After losing that many loved ones, I probably wouldn’t want nothing to do with cops again either.

I’ve been reading Nina Bruhns romantic suspense books for several years now. When I started reading Stop in the Name of Love it seemed somewhat familiar. After looking through the anthologies I have purchased, I found it in the Naughty Nine Anthology. It looks to have been updated and expanded somewhat from the anthology version.

It is the classic cute cop, Bridge who doesn’t commit and the woman, Mary Alice who has become allergic to cops. By her home’s proximity to a criminal’s home Mary Alice

Endearing, spicy, and unexpected. Mary Alice has been through a lot of loss and she does not need to lose anymore so she has put herself into a bubble of safety. She teaches her little nursery school children and is kind to her neighbors and friends. Leave it to a construction worker to mess up her world. He is very attractive and he has become the main event in her dreams. Bridger works undercover for the local police department and his assig

You first are given her heart stopping nervousness everytime she sees him which leads to daydreams on her part. Mary Alice is relate able because women that hide behind walls after too many hurts seem to look but can not seem to touch. Bridge though kinda set her up I would say purposely using that eye candy build to make her sweat. He has to get her on his side for a undercover that has to do with her neighbor. Undercover and stuff like that makes for suspenseful reading but she has added in a ...more

This is the first book I have read by this author and I totally enjoyed it. This book shows life doesn't always end up like you thought it would. Bridger is a cop who loves his job and enjoys his life of being single. He has his own past that holds him up from relationships. Mary Alice is a woman been hurt and dealt with loss more than she wants. She thinks meeting her goals with her five year plan will take the place of love. When the 2 cross paths they have no intentions of ending up together ...more

Bridge and Mary Alice were a very emotional read. She was so vulnerable she almost stopped living. Her pain was tremendous and her fear great. Somehow Bridge got through her walls. He was supportive, understanding and encouraging. And for Bridge, Mary Alice awakened dreams he was afraid to wish for. They both had a lot of baggage to overcome. I enjoyed their spicy scenes and their sexual innuendos. There was not a time where I was mad at any character, but a brush of sadness.

There is one majorly

An excellent read. I definitely would consider this more a romance than a romantic suspense. While it does have a suspense element to it and the ending of the book is exciting, there's not a lot of suspense or action in the middle of the story. It's a good opposites attract story Mary Alice is a pre-school teacher living a very conservative, protected life. Bridger is an undercover cop and works his way into her life to keep an eye on her neighbor. While they are very different there is still a ...more

I loved this book! Fast paced romantic suspense at its best - it has everything: a hot undercover cop and frightened and demure preschool teacher that cannot stand to be around cops. Through necessity of circumstance, they are forced together and what follows is a wonderful story that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. Add in some very hot sex scenes that might be the sexiest I've ever read without being coarse or crude and you have a winning combination.

A sweet romance with some lite action. This is a great weekend read or even when you need a me day and want to indulge in a guilty pleasure.

A school teacher and a police officer, not much more romantic than this. She and he both have sworn off relationships; he because of his job and she... because of his job. An undercover assignment and a fun and naughty night later and they will never be the same again. Will they change their minds about one another or will they dig their heels in? You will j

Stop in the Name of Love is my first book by the author and immediately after reading I headed to her Goodread's page to add at least half of her library to my TBR.

This is a romantic suspense with a sexy cop, a reluctant heroine and a whole lot of chemistry.

The conflicting emotions between the two main characters is central to the plot line of Nina Bruhns' Stop in the Name of Love. The chaotic aura of their relationship although interesting makes the story hard to follow. The personal struggles of Mary Alice also gives you insight into her as an individual character. Bridge is muuuuuuy sexy and that whole alpha vibe he has going just plain works! Mary Alice is wary of cops because those she has loved have died and she's afraid of that same pain. Bridge thinks commitment is not for him because his mom was heartbroken with his dad's profession as a cop. They work through their issues while investigating the neighbor for some major crime but that seems more like the afterthought than the plot.

I love Nina Bruhns' books! And this one is no exception! This is a fast paced romantic suspense with all the elements to love it!

It has it all! A hot undercover cop and a pre-school teacher who leads a very conservative life and hates cops. But they are forced to be together. I read it in one sitting and I couldn't put it down.
The chemistry is great and the love scenes are scorching hot!
