Two truths and a lie: they met on a fall evening, their time together was unforgettable, and that was the end of their story.
The last thing Harriet Thomas expected was life-changing news after a rare evening off. More determined than ever to build a bright, happy future for herself and her unborn baby, she knows what she has to do: track down Warren, the man with the sad eyes she spent the night with. Harriet makes one thing clear: you’re in or you’re out, and, to her surprise, Warren shows up, day and night.
Happy endings aren’t on Warren O’Connor’s radar. He lives life one day at a time, throwing himself into his job, trying to forget a past that still haunts him. That is, until a single encounter rewrites his entire future. She was supposed to be a moment of weakness, but Harriet ends up giving Warren more than he bargained for—a reason to hope again.

This is one of my anticipated books of the year and it did not disappoint. Melody Whispers is the first book in the new series by Ronnie. Yet again I was gripped from the first page. They just get better and better! The best description of Ronnie's writing is described perfectly by herself as cosy, hormotional, small town romances, and they certainly are! Tissues are definitely a must. You are laughing one minute, crying the next, but I would not have it any other way.
Melody Whispers is set in Iris Meadows and centres around Harriet, who we have met before, as the sister of Jo from Sutton Bay. She is a songwriter trying to get her big break. Just before her 29th birthday her 3 best friends drag her out of the house to an Okotberfest event in the town. She ends getting separated from the girls in the haunted house and finds herself locked in a cupboard, where she finds she is not alone. Warren a deeply tortured firefighter is also in there. The chemistry between these two is palatable from the beginning. One night turns into the best for both of them and future they never saw, especially Warren. Harriet is so sweet, gently guiding Warren, and Warren wow, he is so green. Love them both so much.
Add in her besties, and I can't wait for what this series is going to deliver.
Thank you again @author.ronniemathews for allowing me to be apart of your team and be able to read your fabulous book.
Warren has now become my favourite overtaking the delectable Graham and his glasses. The way Warren evolves deals with his trauma and Ptsd, going from a recluse and not living to finding hope, love and a future in Harriet was so beautifully written
What a beautiful book! The perfect mixture of everything I needed and more, I truly do love these characters and this new series so much already. Ronnie is by far one of the best authors I’ve had the pleasure of discovering, i have so much love for you.
The characters in this book had such beautiful stories, we have our girl Harriet. Full of inspiration and love finding her feet again after a breakup, but her spark never dimmed and she was infectious. She had such patience and understanding with daddy warren, her compassion and kindness for others warmed my heart. She is one perfect mama!!
Daddy Stern, aka daddy warren has my entire heart, soul and mind. I am in love with this man. He has not had it easy by any means but his journey is one full of hope and strength. He never gives up, he will literally do anything for baby button and his Harry. Most definitely a swoon worthy man, and despite his demons, he really does go through his own healing journey throughout the book.
I’m a massive accidental pregnancy fan, but I have to say this is by far one of the most beautiful and impactful stories I’ve ever read. It felt so real, so raw and so natural. Overall a phenomenal book. The intimacy and chemistry between them felt very natural, the spice was HOT but it built a foundation between them and really developed their relationship. The emotional intelligence and maturity between the two of them really highlighted powerfully in this. Ronnie’s writing is next level and I adored every single second. Even when I was full on sobbing. (DEFINITELY PREPARE THE TISSUES!!!!) This is definitely my top read, I really didn’t want it to end ever. I definitely made sure to take my time.
Thank you so much Ronnie for sharing this book with us, thank you for the arc & thank YOU for you. I’m so proud & I love you!💚
I love an accidental pregnancy and throw in a firefighter and you had me hooked before starting chapter one! I adore Ronnie Mathews and her writing and this book was everything I was expecting it to be and more - utter perfection. You will laugh, you will cry and you will fall head over heels for this wholesome, heartfelt and healing romance.
I thought I had this all worked out from the start but Ronnie still managed to throw some surprises in there that twisted at my heartstrings and added so much depth to the story. Her writing is spectacular. This was a beautiful love story which I devoured quickly. Harriet is the sweetest woman around and you can't help but instantly fall in love with her and Warren is the ultimate acts of service man. A hallmark movie in the making.
I can not wait for Tate and Talia's book!
- small town - one night stand - accidental pregnancy - tortured hero - songwriter x firefighter - hurt/comfort - girl squad/found family - age gap (29/40) - "eyes on me"
This author has done it again. What a beautiful story this was to read. Ronnie writes books that the story grabs you from the start, the characters will tug at your heart and the story will live rent free in your brain and heart for a while. And this one is no extension, so many emotions went through the story, everything coming together to get the ending these characters deserve. Glad they met when they did, because it was definitely what they needed. Warren a firefighter who had gone through so much in the past and was trying to survive and so his job. Harriet was a songwriter who loved what she did and was very proud of what she accomplished. Never she thought that her one nightstand with Warren would bring them together in many different ways but all for the beautiful future that awaited them. I love this book so much, the friendship, the people surrounding them, the story, the main characters, it was all chef kiss and I loved it all. I laugh, I was happy, I cried, I felt it all♥︎
I absolutely devoured this book. I was so excited to be selected as an ARC reader. I finished it in under 24 hours and honestly didn’t want it to end.
The pacing was flawless, keeping me hooked from start to finish, and the character development? Pure perfection. Every emotion felt earned and real. My absolute favorite trope *the grumpy MMC who is secretly (not so secretly) obsessed with his partner* was executed so beautifully here.
The PTSD representation really stood out to me. It was handled with so much care and authenticity, showing that sometimes the best way to support someone is by giving them space and allowing them to open up on their own terms.
And while accidental pregnancy isn’t usually my go-to trope, this one just worked. It added depth without overshadowing the emotional core of the story.
Truly couldn’t put this one down—highly recommend if you love emotional, character-driven romance with a grumpy-softie hero 💕
Who me? Yeah I’m totally ok after finishing this book… NOT 😭 omg these two had me in a chokehold and I’m obsessed!
I knew I was going to love this cause if Ronnie writes it I know I’m going to love it, she’s INCREDIBLE. But this was a whole other level. I adore a tortured hero, it just makes for some of the most emotional, beautiful romances and MY GOD Warren is my favourite and this guy just makes me want to give him a hug.
This book could not have had more things I adore in it… Tortured Hero, Accidental Pregnancy, Incredible cast of side characters and obviously our little sneak peak of the Sutton Bay characters 🥹
I am well and truly obsessed with these two characters and you all need to go and read this the second it’s out, be warned you will probably cry but it’s ok because you’ll love them so much it will be worth it! promise!
Thank you endlessly Love Notes PR and Ronnie for the Arc of this book!
I don’t love the name Harriet but she was such a fun and realistic character! Warren was definitely a favorite of mine, I laughed out loud many times from how snarky he is and I loved their meet-cute! The tension was *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼 Kind of an insta-lust vibe going on but it worked extremely well! Warren taking care of Harriet while she was having pregnancy symptoms and cravings was the sweetest, he’s a secret teddy bear and I was living for it! I could not put this book down. It was unpredictable, succulent, and better than I could have ever expected, it relievers on every front! Such a beautiful story! 🤧

After leaving Sutton Bay this past Fall, I was anxiously awaiting the release of Ronnie Mathews’ Melody Whispers, book one in her Iris Meadows series. Ronnie Mathews did not disappoint. Harriet and Warren were everything I could’ve hoped for and more.
When a chance encounter turns into a one nightstand, neither was prepared for how life would bring them together again.
Harriet’s patience with Warren as he confront his past was beautiful to read. And Warren, that man fell hard. The level of care he showed Harriet was swoon worthy.
In true Ronnie fashion, the spice was spicey and did not disappoint. These two have the chemistry we only hope to find one day.
