It’s really simple. I needed money. A lot of money. One million dollars to be exact. The amount didn’t matter. All that mattered is that at the end of that price tag held my father’s life.

No money. No life.

The time limit was one year. On January 1st I had to pay up or my Father was going to be killed.

When you’re faced with an ultimatum l

I never actually write reviews either here or on Amazon, but I am so baffled by this book's popularity and great ratings that I can't not weigh in. Well written? Hot? Fun? Amazing? Positive? The main thing this book made me feel was sad. Sad that prostitution is being celebrated as a great, positive career for a strong woman. That a woman being rented out monthly is being presented--and embraced--as a fun, hot thing. That you can't find a bad word written about these books anywhere online--just ...more

I absolutely love serials. I love to complain about how they are taking too long on the next installment, but I refuse to give up the high I get from reading tiny pieces of a story at a time. I know I am crazy, but this love is legit.

I was pleasantly surprised with this first installment, mainly because the way the story is told it feels more like a complete story.

Mia Saunders is kind of a mess when it comes to love. I could tell very quickly that Mia is the type of girl who is in love with the idea of lStars

I just can't get over the stupidity that kickstarts this book.

What kind of a loan shark demands a million dollars from someone he knows doesn't have money?!?! Look, I get him physically hurting the dad for not paying him back. That's between them. Although, really, if a loan shark wants his money back, beating someone to an inch of death pretty much guarantees that person is not going to be able to earn anything - and thus pay off the debt - anytime soon. But to then threaten to kill

This was somewhere between a 2 and 3 stars for me. The writing was basic at best. The plot predictable and lacked anything new. It's pretty woman all over again except there isn't one guy. The intrigue is (view spoiler) Unfortunately, there are better written books with more uniqueness for less than 2.99 for 100 pages. For what it is, it's way over priced. Mia Saunders is struggling to make a pile of money (one million dollars to be exact) in order to pay her father's debts. If she can't, the entire family will be murdered. So Mia becomes an escort girl. In January, she helps a rich surfer dude to keep the gold diggers at bay, so he can concentrate on his work. And she has to live with him. Why exactly is still beyond me.

I have read many bad books, but this one took the prize as one of the stupidest I have ever read. The plot is thin and unreal

Tries to sell that prostitution is just fine and sexy. The author failed to establish neutral boundaries and thus manages to support rape culture.

This book is chosen by our bookclub for a year round read along (every month one book).
I'm not a fan of chicklits, and this book sounded terrible to me, but I decided to give it a fair chance, because books have surprised me before.

The story is about Mia, a girl who's father is in great debt (a million dollars). The people who he owns money, knocked him into a coma, and threatened to kill him and go after Mia and her sister if they didn't pay. To pay this

Money can make people do things they never dreamed of... and that’s the premise of the first book in Audrey Carlan’s Calendar Girl series, January. It’s an interesting one, because I am so used to the neat, HEA that so many romance novels offer. And I gotta say, Ms. Carlan NAILED it.

Mia Saunders is in desperate need of money. Not just a little bit. A whole damn lot. And if she doesn’t get it, her Dad will pay the ultimate price. With no other option, Mia turns to her Aunt Millie and her high priced,

Well this is an interesting premise.

Mia Saunders needs a million dollars to save her father from his gambling debt. With him currently in a coma, she climbs under the wing of her Aunt Millie, who just happens to run the exclusive Exquisite Escorts agency. Offering her the next year, enjoying a months stint with a new guy, sounds almost doable.

Here we meet Mia and her insecurities, and the delectable Weston Charles Channing the third, who turns out to be completely divine.

Quite an ordinary story, but some parts really made me laugh. Oh and the storyline itself is really interesting! I really am going to continue reading this serie throughout the year.

It was pretty good.
Short and a bit weird because you want her to get her happily ever after with Wes right now, but it was cute and very sexy and I'm excited to see what will happen next!

Meh.. While this was fairly enjoyable (hence the 2-2.5 stars) it also just wasn't very good.. I found the 'romance' scenes to be extremely blunt, the characters were shallow and stereotyped, the way women were represented irritated me a lot and the storyline felt lazy and not very well fleshed out..

Since this is our bookclub year long serial I will carry on with february and try to turn of my critical brain a bit while reading, as I think this can be a fairly e

Meh.

I've read countless romance/chicklit books, so it's not like don't like cheesy romance novels. I even expect a certain level of cheesiness.

But this book did not deliver. I found the premise of her father being in the hospital and her having to find a million dollar within a year not really plausible. And she doesn't even seem nervous about it!

Lack of depth and story whatsoever. You don't really get attached to Mia's character either. Some hot scenes here and there, b

This was a fun quick read if you are looking for something light. It seemed to lack a little substance for me but I think it's meant to. The concept intrigues me about spending each month with a different guy for 12 months, being that the guys are loaded and hot does not hurt either. Thinking about it it was a very smart move by the author, having your readers buy 12 separate books is very clever.

Nice smut, amateurish writing otherwise. It's a shame because I really like the concept, but there's too much repetition of information we already know, awkward phrasing in the sex scenes and an oddly slut-shamming air when Mia talks about other women, which is odd considering the premise.

Both the characters and the story left me rather ambivalent. I'm reserving my judgement of the series for now and wait out the next one.

So this book is about sex. A lot of it.

Quick and light read. Finished within the day.
The whole story feels kinda shallow, but I don't think the main focus is on the story (if you get me).
Liked the conversations between Mia and her best friend, I would love more of those.

I will read the next part, but I hope it's not exactly the same as the first book, because I won't read 12 books like this.

Already a HUGE fan of Audrey Carlans, her 2015 Calendar Girl series feels like she’s given her readers one hell of a new years gift. First, there’s the fact that we’ll get monthly installments of her writing - which is certainly guaranteed to bring delight to each and every month. Through the year we’ll follow Mia Saunders in her quest to make enough money to pay off her comatose fathers gambling debt (to one scummy ex-boyfriend), and to continue to support h

Thinking not required to read this story. In fact you don't even need a brain. To enjoy this leave the brain at home. Two stars.

The premise of the story is not believable at all. Mia is a supper hot girl that has to pay her father's gambling debt or else. Said debit is a million dollars. She has one year to pay it off.

Conveniently she has an aunt that owns a escort service and can 'hire' Mia out to some rich men as a escort. She gets paid 100K for a month worth of service

What a unique start to a 12 book series!?!?! WOW! This was definitely more than I thought it would be. Very fun, very saucy, very edgy, very good!! Mia has found herself in a predicament and needs to pay back a lot of money. She goes to work for her Aunt's escort business and will travel each month to "escort" a new male lead. Each of these books is fun and short - approximately 100 pages.

This first book ~January~ she is introduced to her first client, Wes. Californian, movie writer,

“I'm not any kind of girl. I don't need man, but I don't hate romance. I think I'm kinda obsessed with romance, really, which is probably why I'm still single.”

This series was recently translated in my country - with a bang - so I wanted to see why all the fuss.
It's sweet, it's short and it was free when I 1-clicked it. But it has no depth (not yet) and I can only assume that I'd have to read 11 more books for Mia's HEA.

I'd been dying to read this book ever since I saw the cover. It's awesome!

So this series is about Mia, she needs to pay off a debt that her father owes because he can't do it himself. So she decides to be an escort for a year in order to pay off his debt and hopefully get her life back.

Her first client is Wes and man is he dreamy, a surfer dude (hot!). So she spends a month with Wes but she promised herself that she wouldn't fall in love with him because she needs to pay off her father's debt

Mia has a problem, he father is in debt and she needs money, lots of it and quickly. Her only option is to become an escort for her Aunt's escort service. Mia has some issues with doing this, but she also has no choice if she wants to get her father out of trouble, and being the caretaker that we discover she is, Mia dives right in.

Her first client, Wes outrageously sexy, rich screenwriter. Mia decides the gig might not be as bad as she thought. But after a whirlwind month together i

I hope you'll take Mia's journey alongside me this year as she finds herself, saves her Dad, and figures out what true love really is. Ms. Mia is a character unlike any that I've written. She's very real, snarky, casual and just a bit kick-ass. I'd have to say she's the type of girl you want to either be, or be best friends with.

Each installment of the Calendar Girl Serial will be released one a month. The books will be between 75 and 150 pages and will each be set at a whopping 99 cents. I wan
